  1. Overall MS, Your post above is imho (and only my opinion), arguably the best one I have seen on this thread. I just wish I had written it! Well done OM and TVMOM for saying it so well Griff
  2. Looking good there Peter, What's the model in the background, is that one of yours too? Griff
  3. Sigh, Today is clay shooting day again. Only it's chucking it down with rain here good n proper. Now where me n hobbies are concerned, and I mean outdoor hobbies - shooting, fishing and Tiger riding and the like, they ain't much fun in t rain. And they by their very nature are supposed to be fun. So it looks like a day indoors then Griff
  4. Woke up to yet another fresh snow covering. I really need to use the van later on today to collect materials - this could scupper my plans good n proper. It'll have to be the jeep for my first call Griff
  5. Well done Robin for posting up the second leg and about time too!. Back on track once more then Griff
  6. This coming Friday 03rd I am supposed to be onboard and taking 'B.A' round to Horning on Saturday for a memorial cruise on that there party boat - Can't see that happening Quoting mysen here, got my dates mixed up and in front of mysen too. It's Fri 9th we are supposed to be coming down not this Friday so there is time yet Griff
  7. Not for us on 'B.A' it won't as there is river ice on the Ant as of now, I can't see it thawing out between now and Saturday morning. There are supposed to be three of us coming down, taking 'B.A; round to Horning and having four guests onboard overnight. Not a prayer I think Griff
  8. I think we have had a total of about 6" here today. It's been snowing then sunny then snowing again on and off all day long. Tomorrows client is on the main road so might risk the van. Mind you the main through roads our and neighbouring villages were not gritted / ploughed today at all. I have cleared the paths / drive good n proper when I got in. Now covered again. This coming Friday 03rd I am supposed to be onboard and taking 'B.A' round to Horning on Saturday for a memorial cruise on that there party boat - Can't see that happening Griff
  9. If only Vaughan - ICE - a boat stopper even the thin stuff, well it is for us woodies Jeep - Flat battery - Now running and warming up, gear transferred over from van (Well just as much as I need) What I really need is a spare set of rims with dedicated winter snow /ice tyres on them ready for the van each winter but that is a lot of expense not to mention the faffing around, and how many winters would I need them? - They would probably perish / degrade before they got worn out. So having the jeep as a back up is the way to go for me. Griff
  10. Great, there is now around 3" lying this morning and it has started snowing a good un about 20 mins ago with no signs of any breaks in the cloud. If this keeps up I will end up going up in t loft and getting out my Langlauf gear (Still have all the kit from when we lived in Norway) Griff
  11. To be fair, unless I have read Robins posts wrong, the biggest job on the list (due to access and dismantling involved) will be to correct an omission at build rather than a difference in regs, so actually in this case a sea boat has complied quite well to the BSS. Agreed. and the biggest fuel leak was caused by incorrect installation too. Indeed whilst out on the trip I noticed the warm air heating was not performing very well up fwd. On investigation in the engine room I soon found the connectors were loose and some has just been push fitted together and would never have stayed in place for more than five minutes alongside let alone at sea. It was an easy fix though Griff
  12. Far too many "experts" and armchair admirals on this forum for my liking. Hence the reason why I have stopped posting about our restoration of BG, and will not be participating in the Forum after this post. Brilliant Socrates, just great. By not posting about your excellent BG restoration project means the background static, constant whine and armchair admirals of a tiny minority of members denies the rest of us to enjoy / admire your adventure. Don't pay any heed to em and let the rest of us enjoy your ride too. You have a lot of friends in here. Griff
  13. High6 - Like it, I have liked it and would like to like it some more too But I will be lazy and just state:- 'What High6 posted' in it's entirety word for word Now where's that OFF button? Griff sent from my home based P/C tower thing using a keyboard and my finest sense of humour
  14. Grainside, What JM said, from me - Exactly ditto Griff
  15. I discovered on my way om this evening that the tyres on the 'GriffTile' van are very nearly 100% useless when driving on only about 2" of compacted snow on tarmac. It's my own fault as I have not put on winter tyres this year but even so, Holy Moly I didn't think they would be this bad. So, the covering of snow we have (And it ain't much) will be here in the morning with no doubt another odd 1" on top. The van can stay in the drive and I will be using my GC Jeep. Job location is a village with no main trunk road going to/from it and I doubt the van would make it safely Griff
  16. He is sharing it with us, but shouldn't have to keep on justifying his actions. Robin, please ignore the static hiss in the background and keep on with your journey, and updates. Like it, only I would amend the Ignore the static to find the on off switch and move it permanently to off! Griff
  17. Many of us do mind that it is wrongly called a national park. However those that do mind - not all of them post saying so let alone those that don’t read the NBN. Without you or me conducting a poll I don’t really think you can state those that do mind are in a minority just as I couldn’t say they are a majority Griff
  18. Today and tomorrow. 30m2 travertine floor in kitchen / dining room. Not tiling but stripping back / deep clean, then partial grout removal, then impregnate/ seal the trav, then re- grout then seal again. The floor will look brand new on completion. Joy and glee once again Griff
  19. Thank goodness we have 'B.A' tucked up in Richo's wet shed, ready to go 24/7 solo, solo with dog, solo with wife or multiple crew members onboard. However - The genie out now out of the lamp, how long before insurers state no solo cruising on private craft? Griff
  20. I was against ever getting a mobile phone of any sorts for the same fact that I would always reachable, not a problem back in my RN days. Then I fought against getting a home based P/C - had to give in to that one due to our kids schooling. Then was against ever getting an iphone, just phone calls and txts on a standard Nokia was good enough for me, what did I want data on a phone for? Now of course had a iphone for ages and would not be without it 'GriffTile' relies on my mobile phone far more than the landline (Yes we still have one) and I have been known to run out of data too ( As happened earlier this month updating the NBN on Indy's travels) I have no idea how many txts I send / receive each month or how many minutes I use either, I'm sure my grandson could tell me though and he is only 4 x months old! I do seem to be sending / receiving a fair few emails via the phone and the whatsapp thing seems to be getting steadily busier too I don't have a tablet / ipad of any kind and nor do I want one - That's a step too far for me. My favourite form of comms though has to be morse code, both audio and visual, I miss using it. However admittedly it is no good for sending pictures / films between family friends - I'll give you that one In the days before mobile phones when driving up / down to Donny from Pompy and the like we used to keep in touch with other matelots in other cars using headlamps / rear fog lights using morse. It was effective too Griff
  21. permitted in 'Not a National Park'? As said in a Grand Tour Jeremy Clarkson voice - Like it Griff
  22. Socrates - I would have gladly popped over Breydon to escort you but the timings just aren't working for me to do that. I'm working on the Friday as per the norm and won't be onboard with 'My lot' till 2200-ish Then Saturday orf to Malthouse Broad to meet up with the rest of the addicted Griff
  23. I am not necessarily being thick, just deaf. Pardon? Griff
  24. Blimey Socrates, touchy or what? I expect to nosey round your boat as I hope you will come onboard ‘B.A’ You can have ‘Our’ spot - wherever that maybe and I’ll squeeze in somewhere or t’other Griff
  25. And can you add onto B'A's crew list, Howard, Linda, Sheila, Macie Dog - Thanks ever so Griff
