  1. Thanks for finding it Carol. The quality of the film is really good for it's age. I must say, when it started the music reminded me of a Carry On film. I half expected Reg Varney to trundle up to his boat in a red double decker bus!
  2. Silverline, Summercraft, Bridgecraft, Sandersons and Brooms don't have bookable websites and appear on page two or later of Google for the search term "norfolk broads boat hire" (unpersonalised results), so I think they might struggle without Hoseasons. Plus you have to ask why with all the marketing muscle and reach of the likes of Richardsons, Faircraft and Barnes Brinkcraft, they still use Hoseasons.
  3. The best Morecambe and Wise sketch? Surely this one!
  4. Looks like BB are adding Phantom and one other to their fleet.
  5. The camera is cycling through the views again but you won't be surprised to learn the view down-river to the bridge is absent. Even the bridge height and the "under the bridge" views have been ammended. By the way it takes a long time to move from the view with the BB sign so bear with it.
  6. I'm guessing that it won't stay that way. I am sure people who moor over the other side of the river will still want to view their boats to be sure they are OK. Also I imagine the overriding reason the camera was put there in the first place was to procure lots of traffic to the website, which lets Google know the site is popular and assists in pushing it up the rankings. Herbert Woods probably have the same idea. So if people stop finding it attractive, they will no longer search for it and Google will know!
  7. Snowy, be my guest but clearly it isn't today as the Pilot would not have gone home by now.
  8. Was the menu from a Berney Inn? I seem to remember there was very little choice but still the height of sophistication!
  9. Shows you Gracie how affectionately you are regarded on here that people thought the unthinkable!
  10. That first image is just perfect. Calendar nomination!
  11. Hi David Any of these might work: Silver Illusion - Silverline - Brundall San Bernadette - Richardsons - Stalham Sand Piper - Sandersons - Reedham Silver Reflection - Silverline - Brundall Brinks Emperor - Barnes Brinkcraft - Wroxham Pacific Imperial - Pacific - Loddon Brinks Symphony - Barnes Brinkcraft - Wroxham David
  12. Silverline allow solo cruisers if you have used them previously on a "one plus" hire. Interestingly, you have to go through them direct as Hoseasons will not allow single handed bookings.
  13. Probably of interest to those who's home mooring is around the Ferry area of Horning: David
  14. Well, if you ever wondered - dropping the mud weight overboard will do precious little to hold you in a fast tide like that. You can see one of the rescue boat staff hauling it back in again. David
  15. Hi Snowy, Don't know how long you have had these dates but as far as Hoseasons are concerned, the prices are fixed at this year's prices until usually the end of October. As far as i remember for the holiday industry wider, the brochures (with prices) usually launch around one year before the start of the summer season, so May for the following May to October for example. So cannot see collusion unless the schools sort out their training / non pupil days before these dates. Regards David
  16. Here is a list from my site of all boats of this type for hire through Hoseasons. It might be useful in tracking down an alternative. Regards David https://www.norfolkbroadsboathire.biz/similar_boat.asp?minsleeps=2&boatyardlocation=%&steersfrom=%&y=0&northorsouth=%&keyword=grande+girl&x=0&style=26
  17. Around 1967 I think it was, I can remember flying on a Carvair from Southend to Ostend - the first time I had flown - as part of a holiday to the Belgian resort. The Carvair, which was an "engineered" DC4 with a bulbous nose where a couple of cars could be loaded, was operated by British Air Ferries. The flight took 50 minutes which was very exciting for a young boy. I remember a trail of oil leaking from where the engine was housed creeping further and further across the wing, then one of the pilots coming out from the cockpit, stooping down to look through our window at it then returning without saying anything. We landed without mishap and just assumed it was normal for air travel. David
  18. Seems 5pm is a good time to view the Potter webcam as all the larger day boats come back in at that time. David
