We have some garden furniture made of Scandinavian Redwood. The makers recommend their own waterproofing product plus teak oil. Despite many applications the table top has not fared well. The makers do not recommend covering the furniture over the winter. Does anyone have any ideas regarding treatment that can be used? I can see my wife spending many summer hours trying to keep the table as good as possible, and it is tiring for me sitting supervising!

Sand back to good clean wood and treat with Danish oil, or osmo, reapply a required and defo store in the garage to protect it.

the reason not to cover is that the wood needs to breath, but storage out of the weather will help keep it nicer, +1 on the danish Oil

Plus another one for the danish oil, I have mixed some water based with the danish oil to retain some of the original colour.

It does need to be done each year and I agree with the winter storage.

Yet another vote for Danish oil, the teak mast on No Worries has been done with it for the last 6 years. After the first multiple coat year, a flat down with 0000 wire wool and coat put on by cloth has kept it looking fine.

If you can get it back to bare wood, another option is Deks Olje No 1. Apply wet on wet for as many as you can then annually light sand and 1 more coat.

I am sure someone else will have another favourite!!
