smitch6
What tv aerial do ppl use on the south broads? I went into the local chandlers in OB and was told the best 1 for this area is a supergain dvb tiny thing, he said most ppl round OB swear by them. I can't get a signal off it at geldeston, beccles or Bugh St Peter
dnks34
This sort of thing with a maxview 12v booster has worked everywhere for me, even on the move in some areas. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F222610163567
dnks34
This is the booster https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F290753262905 The key to it is mounting the aerial at a decent height without obstructions, possibly difficult to do unless its mounted on a pole.
annv
Hi Smitch I find a Ballard works just fine its small a tennis ball on a stick its inconspicuously and doesn't get in the way only dodgy area is Bremerton Brian Ward at Brundle sells them.John
dnks34
The good thing about those maxview touring aerials is they are at least half the size of a house type aerial but work just as well.

dnks34
Have you tried it with a signal booster, might be better
smitch6
it has a little amplifier that comes with it, but it's tiny so not sure how good it is, i shall get the one you mentioned earlier and give that a go
annv
Hi I have no problem with these area's if my mast blocks the line i then have ghosting ect i just lower the mast and if a tree is close and in line of site at this time of the year, have you checked the fuse its only half an amp .John
dnks34
I think Brian wards sell the Touring Aerial kit, thats where I got mine but it was a few years ago. I also went to screwfix and got a 2m lightweight aerial pole and mounted the aerial to that rather than the pole in the kit.

Wyndham
We use one of these, on a pole, no booster and not found anywhere it doesn't get a signal. https://www.screwfix.com/p/labgear-mini-compact-log-periodic-aerial/67576

I was trying to make it work and broke the cable out the end. Had to take it apart to fix it and inside it's the most poorly built thing I've ever seen (and starting to know a little about electronics), the 360 thing is a crude bit of copper sheet that is only really workable at 180 degrees. Either with a powered booster it was crap, yet to try it since I fixed it. Although from our experience I wouldn't recommend one to anyone.
Betty1
We have a normal, nothing fancy one that screws onto a extending fishing bank stick that attaches to one of the stainless roof rails.never had a problem and cheap as chips.Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
smitch6
well i tried the booster and didn't get anything out of the existing aerial, so i've bought a small one off screwfix and i'll give that a go thursday when i'm next down there
grendel
I had all sorts of problems getting a digital signal at home until I found out that because we were on a repeater the signal was oriented 90 degrees to normal, so try the antenna on its side just in case. smitch6
it is an omni directional one so you don't have to move it anywhere
grendel
so was the omni directional caravan one I tried, but even that worked once rotated it.
smitch6
it's this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Supergain-Ballade-TV-Antenna-DVBT-TNT-12V-Boat-RV-Camper-Caravan/222701650012?hash=item33da0d805c:g:~hEAAOSwUoNZ-bPM as you can see it can't be moved :(
dnks34
Cant you mount it on its side rather than upright?!
annv
The mounting is for roof fixing if you mounted it sideways it could slip out as it just slides into the roof mounting. I haven't tried it on its side all though we do remove it to the deck when negating low bridges, not sure if it still works as iam steering,it certainly works ok when sailing along, in tennis season. 2020Vision
Hi Snitch I tried the Ballard one from Brian Wards they kindly said that if it didn't work I could return it. After connecting it up and wandering around the deck with it like an Olympic torch I couldn't get a signal in Brundall. I now have a small house type aerial without a booster and it works great although I sometimes have to turn it to find a signal depending where I am mooredSent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
