Used 4 Cylinder Lister Engine

Have decided to replace my Lister engine with a Nanni.

The boat was built in 1994 so the engine will be from around that time.

It is an LPW 4  40hp with a Newage gearbox.

It is a first time starter even when cold. It does issue a puff of smoke on cold start but then runs clean.

I can't remember the last time I had to top up the oil.

It's next service is due 23/04/2023 and has been regularly serviced by Ignition Marine.

It served 10 years in Bees hire fleet and has been in my possession for 18 years.

It can be viewed in situ and running at my home mooring until we have to take it to Brundall on the 23rd of this month.

British Marinisation, but Kubota engines are manufactured all over the world. In fact the last Kubota engine I looked at was working a generator and it was manufactured in Georgia USA.

Or I could have used another analogy.

Just like my car's.

Fast sleek and stylish = British

Slow and agricultural  French will do. 

The slow and agricultural one is American actually but I think you get my drift.

I was once told why a pilot vessel carries a white light over red on the mast.

Because the pilot, when he comes aboard, will be wearing a white cap over a bright red nose.

It was a useful mnemonic at naval college.

And my nose is red at the moment because I have been out in the sun.

They both have the same make base engine its the bolt on's that are different. John

I get the joke but a pity that surrender is not a French word. There are quite a few others though :

Suppose I need to get used to French and agricultural.

As I have said before. My hobbies are Slow boats and fast cars.

Hence French  boat engines.

And British cars
