Pub moorings

Having just come back from the broads It is a little bit worrying about the state of some moorings at a few of the pubs.There is no doubt keeping moorings in top condition is costly, but boats bring money to the pubs, and please land lords and ladies it is worth the investment.

Don't tell me the Kings Head moorings are Wroxham are still ringless or postless?

I agree Ian, the problem is most of the pubs aren't owned by the tenant and the greedy landlords aren't prepared to make an investment when there is no direct benefit for them.

Quite right, Dave... the Ferry House at Surlingham is a prime example.

that doesn't fill me with confidence. We have booked a mooring at the Ferry in Surlingham for the 27th of this month. We have never stopped there before. What is wrong with the moorings there?

Hi Steve,

I would pick your spot carefully, have plenty of fenders and a couple of rhond anchors.

By all accounts the pub and meals are first class, sadly we have never moored there because of the moorings.

We will be on pacific star for the week and have booked a mooring. I hope they keep the 'better moorings' if there are any for those who have reserved

We have noted that many posts are made regarding the good food and hospitality afforded at the Ferry. We are really looking forward to our visit

It is the case the moorings are not the best,however you should be ok if you have booked the food is very good, we went there last friday,so to is the staff who are very helpful.

I have nothing but high praise for the pub. As for the moorings, just be careful, that said I've never had a problem.

This picture of the Surlingham Ferry moorings was taken last year but it gives the general idea, I don’t think they have changed much. If memory serves they are better at each end but not so good in the middle. The section to the far left of the photo right in front of the pub is the best bit I think. The moorings are not horrendous but just need a bit of care, you may need extra fendering as others have said. It’s worth the effort though, it’s a very good pub and is featured in the Good Beer Guide for the first time this year.
