JimG
I'm planning a solo cruise at the beginning of next year, February of March time. I know Freedom boats hire this early in the season, anyone know of any other yards that do the same? I'd prefer to be on the Northern Broads as it'll only be for the weekend. NorfolkNog
Hi Jim Herbert Woods hire in February and March. We've been with them for the last couple of years in Feb and can highly recommend it. If you're feeling flush Faircraft Loynes probably will too. Personally I'd go with Woods (in Feb) PS agree - if you go in March Richardsons would indeed be a good choice

BroadScot
Yes agree, don't think they allow solo at all at HW. Iain.
Broads01
Yes I wanted Glimmering Light solo 3 years ago but I was turned away. On that occasion I had Crown Gem and wasn't disappointed. I'd be interested to know what you go for.

LondonRascal
Herbert Woods and Faircraft Loynes do not allow solo cruising - they say because of insurance. I have tried to enquire with Horning Ferry Marina but having emailed them twice and heard nothing back, took the hint and left it at that. Ludham Bridge Boatyard will likely not be letting their small weekend boats, such as the one I hired earlier this year in 2015. That leaves Barnes Brinkcraft, Richardson's Boating Holidays and Bridge Craft at Acle (call to book don't go through Hoseasons with Bridge Craft as Hoseasons will not deal with solo hires) - there is Summercraft and Royalls too however they all don't start to hire until March.
BuffaloBill
Barnes Brinkcraft stopped hiring for the winter months last year from the end of October until sometime in March I think it was. Not exactly sure of the dates but Matthew told me that's what they plan to do each year. Maybe this was because of the few bad winters that we had recently.
