  1. Hi ,and welcome to the forum, sounds like you havn,t been put off the area, don,t be there are good yards and some come highly recommended ,indeed a member of staff of one yard regularly post on hear (c riko ), don,t go down naming and shaming on open forum ...tempting as it is,there is a lifetime of experianced hire boaters on hear who can guide you into booking with confidence for your next hols.
  2. Nope....but my vhf sends my depth finder crazy, and the chartplotter makes the vhf blip when aquiring satellites
  3. If he was going down river it,s very easy to miss the height gauge, as it,s rather like a speed camara..you only see it when it,s too late! and it,s in diabolical state of repair, the next one,s on the bridge with the tide running on a spring very easy to get it wrong and then it,s too late, and if a novice as he was there,s big signs saying don,t turn near the bridge!!. There,s normaly 8 ft 6 on a normal tide at high water..less on springs the tide runs at about 3 knots aswell. I see boats coming down tide from the bridge and belt past at 8mph right past my berth so it,s from first hand knowledge i am actually thinking of taking numbers as a little tired of nearly spilling my drinks!!
  4. Not a patch on the current best seller!!!
  5. Wales?? think it,s Japan or China, they perhaps don,t have a slip, or they couldn,t use it at low tide going by the sea wall there,s quite a range. If you look at the trailer you wouldn,t get the strops under the boat anyway.
  6. poor excuse!!! Welcome to the forum Snowgoose
  7. Don,t know how your boats laid out but a nice thick piece of marine ply glued to the underside of the deck underneath the cleat should spread the the load, the cleat being bolted though this, better still glass the board all over ,and make the board at least 3 times longer than the cleat and twice as wide
  8. lick on the links to listen to the sound files: one short blast: “I am altering my course to starboard†two short blasts: “I am altering my course to port†three short blasts: “I am operating a stern propulsion†five short blasts: “I am in doubt about your action taken to avoid collision†one long blast: “I am nearing a bend where another vessel may be obscured by an intervening obstruction†sound here....http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/bigships ... tions.html any excuse to blow your horn

Hi, and welcome to the forum, any info is always welcome , we have started to use led street/yard lighting and can vouch about the difference in led ,s,for example we have put flood lights up with 1 led lamp fitted that gives off the same amount of light as a 250w son t sodium....you don,t want to look directly at one of these!!
  16. hi, try this, get back if your struggling Attaching an image: When entering your post look just below the Save Preview and Submit buttons and you will find an Upload Attachment tab. Click on this and pop up appears that will let you enter the file position and name or browse to select your photo file. Once you have done that then Click on the Add the file button. You will probably get a message like "The image must be at least 0 pixels wide, 0 pixels high and at most 1600 pixels wide and 1600 pixels high. The submitted image is .." i.e. its too big. Open the file with "Paint" or some similar program and resize the image to be 1600x1600 or less! Save it with a new name (.e.g small.jpg) and then try attaching that version. You now see a little box where you can type a comment on the photo (e.g. Its location). There is another button there for Place Inline, position your cursor where you want the photo to go and click this
