  2. Sorry the closure will be finished, but there will still be the 9 metre width restriction, which should leave the nav channel at full width
  3. I drove over the road bridge a week and a half ago and there was approx 6 people working on a barge ,the barge was about 1/3 to a half the width of the river ,if it helps? as your planning to pass on the 24th the works should be finished Monday 19 – Friday 23 November During the above periods between 08:30 and 20:00 works will be undertaken to the second and third quarters of the bridge. During this period there will be no access through the bridge. Warning notices will be placed upstream and downstream of the works

  7. Hi, below berth level is not really the right place, co is heavier than air? well nearly, we have to give advise on co detectors as i am a combustion engineer, we advise to place co detectors at the height of a standing adult nostral, in a boat half way up the cabin wall would be good, here,s the science, and if you think about it ,co can mirgrate around an enclosed space dependent on temperature, ventilation , ect. Look at the main consituents of air: 1. Nitrogen (N2) has a molecular weight of 28 (14x2) 2. Oxygen (O2) has a molecular weight of 32 (16x2) 3. Water (H2O) has a molecular weight of 18 (2x1 + 16) 4. Carbon dioxide(CO2)has a molecular weight of 44 (12 + 2x32) Carbon Monoxide(CO)has a molecular weight of 28 (12+16) So compared to the main constituents CO is lighter than O2 and CO2 and heavier than H2O. It is the same as N2. Since however, the nitrogen is equal and makes up almost 80% of the air, CO basically stays where you release it. If you had a CO gun, it would really go where you point it. Now since the O2 is heavier than CO and the second largest % in air, the CO will spread up as compared to the O2. My guess is that this takes a long period of time, without outside forces. So in a closed situation, with enough time, and no other air movement, the CO will drift up, not to all be at the top, just slightly more of it. Same with O2, since more will be low, in a fire that is the place to be (also the smoke goes up also). Take CO2 for example. It is the heaviest of them all, but in a regular room, it would be almost impossible to find more CO2 on the floor, than on the ceiling. There is just too much air movement that keeps things mixed up. Now take CO coming off a poorly ventillated wood stove. That CO is lighter than O2 by weight, but remember, it is also hot compared to the N2 in the room. Hot gas is always lighter than cold, so CO in this case would be lighter than the N2, so it would go up due to the temperature difference. By the same token, if you released cold CO, it would go down. Not a simple answer, but if you only had the choice of up or down, the CO is lighter than O2, and the same as N2, so it would go up. If you throw other variables such as temperature in, you can get different answers.
  8. Chuck it there age reliant, buy a battery one , and only put the battery in when you need to,
  9. Keep going Col,,,,, it,ll soon be christmas, there may be an opening for you
  10. Thankyou, i have more but don,t want to bore the pants off everyone!
  11. The thing that got me was the Yatch skipper actually slowed right in the entrance, and why put your boat directly infront of an heavy ferry in a tight(for the ferry) port, these ferries run every 15minutes so why get involved??
  12. Yesturday morning we woke up to this view.....today we woke up ,and it felt very cold!! click to go big.
  13. hi, i ,d put a new skin fitting through the holes, small length of hose and a plug the hose , that,s of coarse if you can,t see them, you never know you migh t want an outlet in future ,for say another bilge pump for example

  15. 2ft higher wouldn,t do the new bridge is only 7ft 7 ,so no point really modern boats can,t do that either
  16. Felt the same way about all the "clutter" of a dslr, so found a walk around lens, it,s a sigma28-300 compact hyperzoom 1:3.5-6.3 , and does a reasonable job in most circumstances, (it was 35 pounds second hand!)camera,s are constantly evolving and getting more compact ,ie i phone,s and the like
  17. All comes down to what youwant to with the camera in the end , the main difference in bridge camera,s and dslr,s is the funtion mode,s ,a good dslr will let you do every thing yourself(manual mode)as well as having all the preset,s(sunny, shade ect),it will also let you shoot in "raw" mode, this mean,s the image is not finished in the camera ,and needs to go thruogh software to do the final adjustments.(capture nx2 for nikon) or of coarse light room ect. agree with seaboater ,the quality of images usualy dosn,t matter ,you,ll have a job noticing ,Micro Four Thirds camera for on the go ,good dslr when you want to get arty!!
  18. Yes John but no water or electric, it is pitch dark as well ! good for star watching
