  1. I don't remember anything like this happening when I was a little girl playing on the green after having a nice lunch in the hotel and then doing the same with my own boys. Such a lovely place to stop and a lovely hotel too but then we only visit once or twice a year so what do I know, rose tinted glasses perhaps Please don't be put off visiting, don't let nasty people who think they are above the law win. Grace x
  2. Have you a pic of this? I won't laugh or anything Grace x
  3. No Helen, this is a red Kite x
  4. So, I had a consultant at the hospital where I was being treated who was a very nice, gentle Irishman, lovely accent but after every sentence he would finish with "Do you follow me" it drove me crazy in the end which will explain a lot Dear Floydraser, I believe it's going to be a nice weekend innit. So, I hope you manage to get afloat Bye. bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye Grace x
  5. I couldn't agree more I've always made sure my boys spend lots of time outside and not stuck in front of a screen, go on activities with the school and after school clubs, camping, fishing, boating etc. I believe children can learn valuable skills and lessons in the great outdoors The other day though, my eldest threw a strop and asked me why he couldn't go on his x box all day long like his friend and how his mum is so cool to allow him to. I replied that it was a good job I'm not your friends mum then because I'm not that cool, he wouldn't like me very much and he's still going on that walk Grace x
  6. Well done! A very Happy Birthday to you. I hope you enjoyed your Birthday afloat. What a way to celebrate your day, afloat and on the Broads Grace x
  7. When you do mess up Griff, I'm sure it's the best mess up anyone has ever seen I know I could have done with you being around on many mess up occasions for sure Grace x
  8. Probably a waste of food but I always throw things out by the time they reach their use by date. What's the difference between use by and sell by dates? Also, can anyone tell me how to cook the best soft boiled eggs? My kids love them but I seem to get them too runny or too hard, either way they seem to end up in the bin. Is it three minutes once they start to boil? I'm wondering if a crash course in cookery will do me any good but my children seem to think not I once burned boiled eggs, the saucepan as well as the eggs had to be binned Grace x
  9. I do believe too, that practice makes perfect. We've all messed up from time to time, it happens, except for Griff of course I reckon by the Summer you'll be taking Dungraftin through Wroxham Bridge backwards All the best and good luck Grace x
  10. Stunning Kate, thank you. You just can't beat an evening like that on the rivers. Spent many a night sat outside, wrapped in a duvet, not wanting to go to bed and miss one bit of it Enjoy, stay safe Grace x
  11. Hi Alison Here's a wave and here's a very warm welcome aboard All the very best with your boating adventures. Grace x
  12. She's a lovely little boat. I'm not knocking Barnes but with the tired upholstery and the problems you've had, to call it Elite is a bit of a stretch We had this on a boat we hired from one of the big yards. The furniture was faded and stained and the pull out bed in the saloon was missing a leg so you couldn't use it. The next day we went straight back, I took the saloon seating into the office and asked them would they pay nearly two grand to sleep on that We got an upgrade to one of their new boats and an extra night. Sometimes it's a good thing to complain, we're good at that Great write up and photos of your holiday Simon, thank you Grace x
  13. Have a lovely time afloat Kate, you have the lighter nights to enjoy too. I'm sure Mermaid will be well taken care of. I am sure too that Ian and his family will be pleased she is in such good hands Grace x

  16. Just a gentle reminder and I am so not telling you off but not all people from Essex are ditzy, dumb blondes Look at me.......I'm ditzy and blonde and I come from East Sussex Grace x
  17. What a decent sort you are Griff. I hope it goes well, with your instruction, I can't see it going any other way I hope they have a fantastic week afloat Grace x
  18. Dear old Parge, I can do you a dessert, an Eton Mess with a difference. Meringue, strawberry's, cream and other ripe seasonal berries such as raspberry's and cherry's. Mix all together and then garnish with cucumber and beetroot I still have no clue as to why my kids won't eat it Grace x
  19. The Wayford Bridge Inn do an excellent breakfast and a Sunday roast to die for. Not a Farmers Market but you also have Meales garden centre which is more than just a garden centre and the cafe there is very good too Cook your own on board, how delightful is the smell of bacon wafting from a boat as you walk past. I have found over the years if the family vote on dining in or out, they normally opt for out Grace x
  20. I have admired and always will admire the people that worked through it all, NHS staff obviously but the lorry drivers and delivery people etc etc who worked through the night too just so there was food on the shelves ( They forgot the toilet rolls though ) The other side of the coin, the people who were totally alone and cut off from society, the loneliness and isolation they must have felt. How we will never get those lost years back. The dreadful situations where people died alone because loved ones couldn't be there to hold their hand, an absolute tragedy It gave me a sense of perspective, how lucky I was and am to have my family and friends, who, thankfully survived it where so many didn't And as for people crossing the road to avoid walking past the Boss, don't they know he has a fleet of boats Grace x
  21. I think it was all so new, so rare, unprecedented and so bloody cruel. No one really knew what to do. The decision makers made their decisions to the best of their ability at the time. I don't blame anyone. What I did find so deplorable was the powers that be decided our lives for us, gave us rules and locked us down but didn't follow those rules themselves. That wasn't right I don't mean to get political, it's not allowed and that's not what this thread is about. I can't believe it's been 4 years already. Let's just hope lessons have been learned and it never happens again Grace x
  22. She's a lovely boat Simon, you and Suzie should be well snug aboard her Have a great time Grace x
  23. I don't think it will help Smogs. After a few beers in the pub Neil won't know or care which end of the boat is which Grace x
  24. I've never hired her but she is a lovely boat, you'll be arguing who has the aft en-suite Knowing you it will be beer....fishing.... repeat You have the best time, you deserve it Grace x
  25. Just as well you're not a Peregrine Falcon then Grace x
