  1. I enjoy this forum for many reasons. We can discuss anything from boats to health but what I think is so important is the colourful, funny characters who are members These two posts sum it up for me. Brilliant x
  2. Best time of day on a boat on the Broads. The sun rises can be beautiful can't they. Sitting outside on the bow as you watch it rise with a steaming mug of coffee while the mist dances on the surface, stunning x
  3. I'm not telling anyone about Johnny Crowes Staithe either, that's mine , all mine x
  4. My goodness Ian, I really really fancy a bacon sandwich now . Soft white bread, butter and crispy bacon, yummy. The question is......red or brown sauce?? How kind of you to do the gift boxes, you're a star x
  5. I remember seeing the sign when I was a little girl, it's only been the last few years we have ventured up there once the sign went What an absolutely lovely post from Old Wusser, thank you and thank you Mr Nog for another lovely tale. It's a joy reading of members adventures in Winter time x
  6. Those yorkies look amazing, just like what I make. Who is Aunt Bessie anyway? Does she do frozen roasties and yorkshires? Asking for a friend x
  7. Each to their own of course, I have always loved our great pubs. Where I live we have lost a few in the last couple of years. To see a beautiful old country pub turned into flats is another terrible loss for our culture and History and takes away some of the character of those little villages and towns You can't beat that lovely feeling you get when you walk into an old Inn with a roaring fire and friendly locals We use those pubs around here and on the Broads when we are there as much as we can. If we don't use them we will lose them. Unfortunately in these trying times with money short and people struggling, it's no wonder we are losing so many along with local shops and businesses x
  8. Brilliant Griff. The Magicians have been fantastic, Shaun an absolute hero and the power of love from his family amazing I am so pleased for you and your family, here's to a brilliant Christmas for you all x
  9. I'm with you all the way there Ian but I came out in a cold sweat as I read your post thinking you might advise me to give them some of my wine x
  10. Another fight on your hands, a fight I'm sure you will win. Your strength is amazing Ian. I am so sorry for you and your family and for what you are going through but this illness has picked on the wrong guy
  11. My parents are no way in a situation that Helen and her family find themselves in and what many of you are going through As you probably know my dad is an amputee and has been diagnosed with Parkinson's. My mum is his carer, I do whatever I can to ease their load. The hardest thing for my mum is seeing the strong, confident man she married becoming unable to care for himself. She is not getting any younger so things are difficult for her too both physically and emotionally. This topic will be extremely helpful Thank you for starting this thread x
  12. You didn't argue with the customer and you are right, customers are always right although they're not all of the time, they are a ruddy pain I don't normally get involved with this topic, a car gets me from A to B even then I still manage to get lost x
  13. How awful, another pub closed. I do hope someone can take it over and keep it as a pub and not turn it into housing. Ranworth used to be a lovely place to stop for lunch and a drink or two Our pubs are an institution and part of our History we seem to be losing x
  14. Try plugging it in, I find that helps x
  15. I have to say I am so grateful for this forum and all the work the team put into it to keep it running and a safe place to be. It's especially precious for members to keep up with what's going on in Broadland for those that can't be there as much as they would like to be Like most members I just log on and read, type a few posts and that's it, without a thought as to what goes on behind the scenes Thank you so much x
  16. Brilliant news Griff. I know the magicians are fantastic but Shaun must be putting up one hell of a fight. Well done Shaun Not only has he got a wonderful supportive family around him, half of the NBN are willing him on too Just reminds me of what a supportive community we have here too x
  17. I am so sorry to read this Griff. I do wish Shaun a speedy and full recovery It's so very difficult for family who are sitting around watching and waiting, my thoughts to you, Mrs G and your family x
  18. I so agree about the bath tubs as they are affectionately known. They can get almost anywhere on the Broads and there are some really nice ones available. Okay, so not as posh as some but I love them and hired plenty. We hired Dancing Light from HW when she was fairly new and what a beautiful boat she was too x
  19. You see this is why I would rather hire a boat that will access most of the Broads system. How can you miss out on that beautiful cruise up to Coltishall Lock, it's my idea of heaven, it really is I suppose I could slum it for a long weekend on Enya x
  20. She is a beautiful boat for sure. I can see myself mooring along side her in me little old bath tub x
  21. I was just about to say I don't know this boat in particular but I know a man who does until I saw Chris has already posted. His posts on his holiday threads are very good and informative, you won't go far wrong reading them x
  22. This is such a shame. A very pretty and lovely little place for a Latte and watching the world go by. Thank you for the info Graham Everything seems to be changing and not for the better either x
  23. What a wonderful but sad thread this is I know it's not much but I always donate and wear a poppy as do my boys. It's important they know the true story and the sacrifices made by so many. The younger generation have every single one of those who fought and sacrificed everything for our freedom to thank for theirs. It must never be forgotten Thank you x
  24. Yep! All of the above and then some. The Sutton Staithe Hotel one of my faves as is The Wayford Bridge Inn. The New Inn and Ferry Inn at Horning are excellent for relaxing in their riverside gardens watching the boats come and go over a meal and a drink or two I agree with you about not wanting to cook and clear up on your holiday but sometimes it's nice to cosy up on board for the evening and prepare a meal, my kids don't like it but that's another story A very warm welcome aboard the forum x
