  1. The moment you drive into the boat yard and see all the hustle and bustle, the engineers and cleaners doing their thing, the engines being checked and run. The first step onto your chosen boat for a week or two and thinking to yourself as you do with all the boats you hire, this is the one I'm going to buy That first night aboard, sipping a glass of wine out on the bow as the sun sets, magical x
  2. Oh please! Do behave x
  3. Isn't that what debate is all about. Starting at a point and after going completely off topic end up back at the beginning Just watch Question Time in the House of Commons, this Forum and it's members are far more informed and make much more sense than that ruddy lot Good, healthy debate is fine as long as we don't get nasty x
  4. Mum and I had the wine in the wine bar on the way home x
  5. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but agree with you entirely. I just think we should feel proud at what the girls have achieved so far and what a brilliant bunch they are. There was a time when girls were not allowed to play football and now it's on screens all over the world and if they bring it home what a ruddy brilliant achievement to be Euro champions and world cup champions too Now the rugby thing I don't get or golf come to that although I have often thought about taking it up when I fail miserably at fishing x
  6. I dare not say what school uniforms cost me yesterday although the final bill might have had something to do with the new shoes I added on the end x
  7. I know some of you hate footie and would rather watch paint dry but I will be at my parents to watch it, I have had football drummed into me since I was little. I enjoy a good game and feel very proud the girls have reached the final Good luck and all the best to them and their brilliant manager Sarina. Even if they lose, they reached a World Cup Final, they should be proud of that x
  8. Have a great time Chris and Brenda Great itinerary x
  9. If I want to go to the Cinema, I will go to the Cinema. If I want to go to a Festival, I will go to a Festival. If i want to hire a boat, I will go to the Broads. Why? Because it is a beautiful peaceful place to be, nothing quite beats it for me or my family I showed a couple of these posts to my dad who has been holidaying on the Broads for more years I can remember both on land and water. Far from being an old person stuck in his ways he summed it up for me when he said and I quote...."All that needs to happen is for the BA to stop closing moorings and cater for the boater both private and hire, for people to realise it is a boating holiday and not clubbing in Ibiza" Does anyone remember when you used to choose a boat, turn up at your chosen yard and know fully what to expect for the next week or two and love every minute, I do x
  10. I think, for what it's worth, the last two posts have hit the nail firmly on the head x
  11. Not everyone is going to like the same things so I do understand where you're coming from Helen. I have very fond memories of The Bridge Inn, being there with my parents and having the best time so I guess I might be a little bit biased x
  12. All of the above especially The Bridge Inn, Acle I would like to add The Kings Head Wroxham, never had a bad meal there, also stayed in their rooms which were comfy and right by the river too. The garden is great for having a drink and watching the boats come and go. Nothing to dislike really
  13. Well done to the girls, they have been brilliant, we may well be bringing it home No rolling about in agony like they are on their last legs only to get up and carry on five minutes later, no spitting and not too many temper tantrums either.......take note boys x

Noooooooooo! I've just been in my local Tesco Express and they have tins of sweets on display.......and I brought two to be put in the Christmas (sorry) cupboard and will be eaten before August is out I loathe every time the We Sell Any Car advert comes on the telly and the people jump out of their car singing "I sold my car ". I can never get that out of my head and now it's back in there, thanks Chris
  15. Someones pride and joy, how very sad. Thank goodness there was no one on board, at least a boat can be replaced. I don't suppose that's much consolation for the owners though x
  16. I agree about the stretch from Sracey to Yarmouth, we have also used that time to shower etc. I still don't like missing a moment when I am on board though. I would love for you to give it a try Jean, when it's beautiful weather Breydon is like a mirror and so peaceful, magical in fact. When the weather is not so good it gets a tad choppy, I love that too. When the boys were younger they thought they were going to sea You will of course if you don't go the right way Sorry Simon for thread drift, loving your holiday tale and photos, thank you x
  17. I've been to Yorkshire many years ago and found it to be beautiful and the people friendly. Their Yorkshire puddings are to die for with lashings of gravy, gravy is not mean't for chips, salt and vinegar for chips In fact I remember a candle maker from Yorkshire...... He was halfway through making a batch of red candles. He had been working without a break for hours, so his wife bought him a plate of cheese for sustenance He was so keen to finish working he ignored the food and continued to be engrossed in his labours All of a sudden he let out a mighty sneeze and sent the red hot wax flying He opened his eyes and saw the wax had completely covered his cheese supper. He cried out in anguish "EEEE DAMN!" x
  18. Leave well alone, they have probably forgotten all about it, I can understand how you feel though. Failing that you could wait until dark and untie his ropes x
  19. I've stayed at the Travelodge in Acle too Simon, it served it's purpose. We were having a heat wave at the time, it was very hot and stuffy and you could only push the window open a little way I hope you and Mel have a lovely time in spite of this awful weather I think the Boss is very brave watching that film with the ruddy weather doing what it's doing at the moment x
  20. This is a great thread, it's fun and MM doesn't mind if we drift a tad or if it descends into chaos, with MM involved that's usually the case It also gives us a bit of inside knowledge on life living aboard which I love to read about, so thank you for that MM I know we don't have much of a summer but I hope you're enjoying life on board, I know it can't be all plain sailing especially in the winter. Do you have any regrets about living aboard? x
  21. Oh please, do behave. You would think I'd know better by now not to make a silly comment x
  22. Crikey, remind me never to pee on a post again Dogs are lovely. I wish some owners would realise not everyone wants a dog jumping up at them and then look at you as if you have two heads when you ask them to keep the dog away x
  23. Your daughter looks absolutely stunning x
  24. Why speed anyway, a gentle cruise is so so enjoyable. I have cruised along at just over tick over so as to take in everything and enjoy the beauty of the place and then someone toots at you for going too slow as they overtake, sometimes you just can't win x
