  1. I think, for what it's worth, the last two posts have hit the nail firmly on the head x
  2. Not everyone is going to like the same things so I do understand where you're coming from Helen. I have very fond memories of The Bridge Inn, being there with my parents and having the best time so I guess I might be a little bit biased x
  3. All of the above especially The Bridge Inn, Acle I would like to add The Kings Head Wroxham, never had a bad meal there, also stayed in their rooms which were comfy and right by the river too. The garden is great for having a drink and watching the boats come and go. Nothing to dislike really
  4. Well done to the girls, they have been brilliant, we may well be bringing it home No rolling about in agony like they are on their last legs only to get up and carry on five minutes later, no spitting and not too many temper tantrums either.......take note boys x

Noooooooooo! I've just been in my local Tesco Express and they have tins of sweets on display.......and I brought two to be put in the Christmas (sorry) cupboard and will be eaten before August is out I loathe every time the We Sell Any Car advert comes on the telly and the people jump out of their car singing "I sold my car ". I can never get that out of my head and now it's back in there, thanks Chris
  6. Someones pride and joy, how very sad. Thank goodness there was no one on board, at least a boat can be replaced. I don't suppose that's much consolation for the owners though x
  7. I agree about the stretch from Sracey to Yarmouth, we have also used that time to shower etc. I still don't like missing a moment when I am on board though. I would love for you to give it a try Jean, when it's beautiful weather Breydon is like a mirror and so peaceful, magical in fact. When the weather is not so good it gets a tad choppy, I love that too. When the boys were younger they thought they were going to sea You will of course if you don't go the right way Sorry Simon for thread drift, loving your holiday tale and photos, thank you x
  8. I've been to Yorkshire many years ago and found it to be beautiful and the people friendly. Their Yorkshire puddings are to die for with lashings of gravy, gravy is not mean't for chips, salt and vinegar for chips In fact I remember a candle maker from Yorkshire...... He was halfway through making a batch of red candles. He had been working without a break for hours, so his wife bought him a plate of cheese for sustenance He was so keen to finish working he ignored the food and continued to be engrossed in his labours All of a sudden he let out a mighty sneeze and sent the red hot wax flying He opened his eyes and saw the wax had completely covered his cheese supper. He cried out in anguish "EEEE DAMN!" x
  9. Leave well alone, they have probably forgotten all about it, I can understand how you feel though. Failing that you could wait until dark and untie his ropes x
  10. I've stayed at the Travelodge in Acle too Simon, it served it's purpose. We were having a heat wave at the time, it was very hot and stuffy and you could only push the window open a little way I hope you and Mel have a lovely time in spite of this awful weather I think the Boss is very brave watching that film with the ruddy weather doing what it's doing at the moment x
  11. This is a great thread, it's fun and MM doesn't mind if we drift a tad or if it descends into chaos, with MM involved that's usually the case It also gives us a bit of inside knowledge on life living aboard which I love to read about, so thank you for that MM I know we don't have much of a summer but I hope you're enjoying life on board, I know it can't be all plain sailing especially in the winter. Do you have any regrets about living aboard? x
  12. Oh please, do behave. You would think I'd know better by now not to make a silly comment x
  13. Crikey, remind me never to pee on a post again Dogs are lovely. I wish some owners would realise not everyone wants a dog jumping up at them and then look at you as if you have two heads when you ask them to keep the dog away x
  14. Your daughter looks absolutely stunning x
  15. Why speed anyway, a gentle cruise is so so enjoyable. I have cruised along at just over tick over so as to take in everything and enjoy the beauty of the place and then someone toots at you for going too slow as they overtake, sometimes you just can't win x
  16. Absolutely beautiful Griff, congratulations I don't have a daughter but I will be just as proud as you when or if my two sons marry, although I'm not allowing them to even have a girlfriend until they are in their thirties x

Don't have this thread removed at all Monica, you are perfectly entitled to post and if it causes a good debate there's nothing wrong with that Now the way I see it and for what it's worth I have seen bad behaviour from same sex groups, couples and families, it's always going to happen wherever you are on holiday or whether it's in May or ruddy not I have also seen and met some very nice friendly boaters from all camps who have helped others and seen acts of kindness that far outweigh any of the above but sadly it doesn't get talked about so much. A scandal is always much more interesting As for all girl groups being worse than any other I can only say from my experience on my hen boat we were well behaved and respected other boaters, well most of the time anyway There were no men allowed so we didn't move our bedding etc to another boat either thank you very much Now I am about to start six weeks of fun with my kids, a tad bit of wine tasting might be involved and a few lie ins too Have a great summer everyone, forget about May, it's gone all ready x
  19. Nah, that's so very rare it's never been spotted x
  20. Have a smashing day and congratulations to your daughter and her partner. I hope the day goes without a hitch and you get to help Mrs G out of her outfit x
  21. Trying to sleep in Hospital is awful, they wake you up to do your obs every couple of hours and then the ruddy cleaners come in at silly 0 clock Take care Ian, you are so brave and strong, all the best to you both x
  22. Do you really think? Go to my local Wetherspoons on a Friday night, you might think differently after that x
  23. I've just spent most of my day on a blustery sea front with 20 4/5 year olds who all behaved brilliantly but why oh why do we get a mile away from the toilets do they seem to all want to pee at once As much as I love it it's still quite nice to give the little ones back at the end of the day 6 weeks off soon and looking at last minute deals at Breydon Water Caravan Park so could well be on our way soon, yay
  24. I have to agree with you there about holiday camp food, it's not the best by far but my kids love it. When we were away at a holiday camp a while back I asked them if they wanted to eat at the bar or me to cook them something, we ate at the bar most nights x
  25. I totally agree Simon, not all hirers are bad but we all seem to get labelled the same I have treated every hire boat with love and respect. Mopping decks and engine checks every day, I take pride in it. Even cleaning them so thoroughly at the end of a holiday some were cleaner than when I picked them up even though I have been totally beside myself at the end of a holiday at having to give them back I have values and respect for most things in life including moored boats, speed limits and other river users, even the ruddy flappy thingies Please remember when making posts we are not all bad and love the boats we hire thank you very much x
