  1. How very dare you I had absolutely nothing to do with it thank you very much I mean seriously MT, what are you on? What does the rest of your post even mean? x
  2. Yes,thank you to all the team for keeping us up and running even though I don't seem to have any problems, I don't think I'd know if I did anyway x
  3. Haven't we all been subjected to such an expert! I know I have and so has my dad. I remember being on holiday with my parents, my dad was very expertly doing a stern on mooring the other side of Wroxham bridge when a man standing on the bow of his boat gave my dad the benefit of his experience and knowledge We didn't pay him any attention and moored up without touching a boat or bank. Later on that afternoon the expert and his wife cast off. The wife was shouting instructions from the aft of the boat, he managed to hit both boats either side of him as his wife disappeared, not because she was embarrassed, the force of one of the bumps knocked her over She was fine though, she jumped up and went inside pretty damn quick anyway. As he cruised past, my dad who was sitting in the front well with a beer raised his glass and nodded not saying a word, he didn't want to embarrass the couple any more as he figured they'd done quite enough of that themselves
  4. My boys sort out any problems I have I haven't noticed anything different today which is amazing, if any one is going to have issues in the technical department it will be me x
  5. Seems like a good plan Andrew Another tip for staying cool is to point a fan downwards and place some ice at the foot of it, it apparently generates cooler air. Here's another tip..... put the ice in a bowl otherwise your floor will get wet. I put the ice in a bowl, honest x
  6. Stunning photos, thank you Tonight is not a school night x
  7. A warm welcome aboard Good luck with your boat search, there are very knowledgeable members here who will be more than wiling to help x
  8. I went to St Ives many years ago staying in a b&b on a little cliff with views to die for. Have a lovely time Mouldy but please stop posting pics of lovely cold beer, it's leading me into temptation and it's a school night x
  9. I quite agree with you Ian, if members are upset or not interested by a thread then don't read it, you have a choice Thank you for trying to get information. It's a sad situation, let's hope for a good outcome x
  10. Gracie

    Bargate

My favourite too. I've mud weighted on Barton Broad, absolutely magical. Salhouse Broad is brilliant too especially watching the comings and goings on a summers day. Isn't boating just the best thing,. You can moor up at a pub and be sociable or mud weight and be completely alone, best of both worlds x
  11. Thank you so much for posting the video, absolutely loved it. The skill of the crews is amazing. I showed my boys and they now want to hire a flappy thingy. My goodness, can you imagine that, I have trouble with a boat that's got an engine x
  12. I spent the day at the beach yesterday with a friend and her children, it was just right with a gentle breeze making it feel not too hot. Lots of sun cream applied and no wine Ian. I waited until the evening for that It was an uncomfortable night for sleeping until the wine kicked in anyway x
  13. I have to say what a brilliant post and better put than I ever could. I'm of the younger generation, I certainly don't know how to do things better but I do know how disability affects people, if my dad was 'nudged' to give up his car, he would be housebound. He has to attend the Douglas Bader Unit in London on a regular basis, it would be very difficult for me to get him there by train, it can be done, of course it could but extremely difficult, stressful and uncomfortable for him My children and I can travel on a train to anywhere if we wanted to but for some people it's not that easy. Life is difficult enough for disabled people, we really don't realise how difficult and we never will unless we walk a mile in their shoes x
  14. I've really enjoyed this thread, thank you for keeping us well informed, I could sense the excitement in some of the posts. I did see some of it on the webcams, amazing stuff Note to Liz, don't forget the tin opener (an early reminder) x
  15. I am so loving this thread. I didn't realise how much work goes into making it all happen. Well done to Liz for providing all those breakfasts too x
  16. A word of advice to all NBN ladies, do not under any circumstances wear a floaty skirt in 30mph winds. I am not Marilyn Monroe by any means but I had several of her moments yesterday Thank you to my mum for not helping me out because of laughing hysterically x
  17. Good luck and all the very best to all taking part, I hope it goes well. I wish I could be there to see it, not navigate through it though x
  18. All the best Ian and Marina. Get yourself fighting fit and aboard Mermaid. You've got this my lovely x
  19. It sure is lovely to watch sat safely moored up or at the pub I love being moored and the first thing you hear of a sailie coming is their sails as they billow in the wind before they gently glide past, gives me goose bumps. Love it x
  20. Such a lovely post Biker and so true. Life can change in an instant, as you know it did for my dad. His life was changed overnight and the circumstances put an end to a lot of activities for him including boating. You never know what lies ahead so you go get that boat, live your dream and enjoy every moment All the very best to you and Mrs Biker x
  21. Congratulations Biker. I am so pleased for you and wish you lots of happy cruising aboard her Can't wait for the new thread and what you went for in the end x
  22. I remember last year in that dreadful heat how uncomfortable it was. If you get cold you can put extra layers on or cuddle up under a duvet but in that heat you just can't get out of it especially at night which makes it difficult to sleep too. Much prefer the colder months and Spring can be lovely You cheeky beggar Now come on Neil, we all know you don't have polar bears up in wee bonnie Scotland, it's grizzly bears and you well know it A few years ago now when we went to Scotland my youngest was terrified the grizzlies might get him. I had to gently explain there were none where we were going only the Loch Ness monster. That didn't seem to help much x
  23. Just buy your veg from the supermarket and go away more often x
  24. I took my boys to a sea front cafe for breakfast this morning and then a walk along the beach, it was a tad breezy and chilly to say the least. One of those windy days when you take two steps forward and then ten back, took me ages to get home x
  25. A very warm welcome aboard the forum ree Also Herbert Woods at Potter Heigham have some very nice day boats for hire with a small kitchen area and bathroom facilities, a bit pricey but worth it if you're wanting to be out for the day You can hire day boats at Simpsons Boat Yard in Stalham, although they do have boats like the one's at Potter they also have boats which are cheaper and will get you out on the rivers just as well, they don't have the facilities of the above though but you could always stop off at the little villages and pubs for refreshment and comfort breaks or take your own food and drink. You will always find someone to help you moor, most boaters are a friendly bunch This is how a lot of people fell in love with the Broads and went on to bigger and better boats and not just for a day Whatever you decide on, I hope you have the best time x
