I'm heading that way in three weeks time, I haven't traveled across breydon in a good 25yrs by boat ( how sad is that ) so I'd consider myself a newbie. Il see if I get stuck. How embarrassing would that be,
Can I ask, is your avatar a pic of your boat ?? I absolutely love them old ripplecraft boats. My father would never hire one for some reason. A couple of years back someone try to sell one. It was local to me @ benfleet in Essex I popped down to see her, sadly the restoration was way beyond my pockets.
There's a similar looking boat around Wroxham called Heather I'm sure you know it Vaughan. Nigel Royall did some work on her. They are lovely looking things and a cry back to times long gone. Sorry if this is a silly question, but what is a white boat. I know its something to do with sailing.
The sun holiday promotion was/ is a huge success story for news International. On the nights they printed the tokens in the paper we would see a 50% increase in there logistics requirements. Which often meant hours spent on the phone to local hauliers trying to source extra vehicles. We'd often run trucks empty into wapping which back then was a big no no with TNT. But the sun was happy to pick up the bill. So it must of been worth the effort, cost.
The sun paper holidays have been around years and are still going, they were doing them back in the 90s when I worked at wapping print centre for TNT. I can picture the adverts in the paper but can't remember which companies were involved. I'm pretty sure richardsons were with there hearts boat fleet. I might be wrong tho.
It didn't, it was the arrival of the overseas package holiday. Guaranteed sunshine, kids clubs, swimming pools etc etc. For once mum could also have a holiday. I
The world sure is a funny old place right now. So much debate over a simple misjudgement and a break down jeez. The broads hire boat industry is nowhere near what it was in the 70 80, ppl complain about Ludham bridge now lol..go back 20 odd years richardsons yard at Stalham was bursting at the seems there wasn't all the private boats moored there back then it was all hire craft. plus all the other smaller yards in the area. Horning was full of hire yards etc etc. Yarmouth yacht station and marina keys would be rammed full of hire craft moored 3 abreast, not a life jacket to be seen. The marker post system works perfectly fine and has done for years granted it needs some repairs. Boat will run aground mistakes will happen it's human nature. By the way do we think it just breydon where boats get stuck ?? Because it isn't. The broads are a perfectly safe holiday destination what isn't safe is ppl stupidity and lack of common sense fueld in some cases by over consumption of alcohol and dare I say it illegal drugs. Ppl new to a boating holiday might visit these forums and read nonsense on here that could scare the life out of them. Time to move on from this..pp
My daughters and there children do it now, I politely decline to join them. Il find a nice spot on the wall and enjoy a pint whilst keeping an eye on them.
NBD are saying there definitely will be a 2nd one in the class built Andrew. If they prove to be popular they will build to meet demand. I can't believe they won't build a version with more berths onboard.
