  1. I hope it is the broads and not paris.. looking at the image name
  2. Unfortunately I haven't managed to get out and about with my camera this year (for some strange reason?!) and I have a newish laptop and cant find any older pics... although this is from last year in one of our best moorings.. Unfortunately I don't think I quite got it good enough for a calendar but I have to submit something..
  3. I'm a bit stumped.. closest I can find is Haddiscoe church...?
  4. and welcome to the forum from me Soundlike the bug spread quickly for you all there... perhaps Mr Richardson can stamp your loyalty card a few more times
  5. Thanks guys.. I really appreciate your comments and they are just what I need! i didn't realise I was coming across like that but in a way its nice to read back the ups and downs (So the next one I can prove once and for all it's a no!!) but it is certainly getting to me a bit at the moment.. and we are pushing ourselves hard now... I think we are on to finish around easter and we will at least going to spend easter either on the boat or in a hotel looking for moorings! Next summer though we will definitely have 3 weeks on her!
  6. Thanks guys.. we are both in the need of a holiday! but I think we are still enjoying it (just).. I admit though the last couple of weeks have been annoying! but its certainly nice to tick some of these jobs off.. these are the little jobs which will take time but need doing. Grace I think your right.. we don't see the improvements.. I know what the finish should look like as its all mapped in my head (typical project manager ey).. so until its finished its hard to be positive.. but your right its coming together.. slowly slowly
  7. Frank... Re, gas locker: Copied from, http://www.boatsafetyscheme.org/media/194782/2013ecp_private%20_boats_ed3_public_final.pdf Cylinder lockers must be constructed of materials that are either · the same material and thickness of the surrounding hull structure; or, · metal of minimum thickness of approximately 1mm; or, · FRP of minimum thickness of approximately 5mm thickness. Any repairs to cylinder lockers must meet the thickness requirements above, and: · metal locker repairs must be made using a plate of similar metal and must be seam welded or brazed; · FRP locker repairs must be made using fiberglass fabric/matting and resin. Don't forget to drain it... plus theres lots more about drain hose.. height above waterline etc.. so have a good read...
  8. Thanks Iain.. We should be back on track.. big shame we didn't get the timber but it's nice to do these little jobs.. big ticks off the list
  9. We really aren't having much luck.. yesterday we went to start daves car to run down the timber yard to collect the oak ply boards for the bulkheads and the bloody car started but the battery warning light came on.. My car doesn't have roof bars so we need his car.. A bit of running round and we found a part but too late to grab the timber .. next week... so it screwed us a little for the weekend as we really need to finish the bulkheads off.. plus we have daves mum down for extra hands and a bit worried she would be bored. However yesterday the club wanted to move the boat back to its old spot as the hardstanding surface has been finished.. that took most of yesterday to do as the travel hoist just about fits.. plus the hardstanding surface now makes it hard to take the acros.. but all good! Today, we did a few little odd jobs; Put the bow cleat back on, refit the drain for the chain locker, painted inside the chain locker, installed the heater ducts and thermoducting, made up and installed the oak trim around the window (Which took hours as we had to remove the hatch to get the shape of the window (it kinda leaked anyway) and was a pain to do.. it looks nice though. Started cutting out the dashboard because dave wants to get electrics done in the evenings now. Also our friend who makes canopy came over and stole our canopy to fix the cracked windows and make some improvements to it (Mainly put more zips as its either all canopy or no canopy).. so we had to put a sheet over. So we didn't do too bad we are all exhausted... timber next week though ...
  10. and welcome from me .. cool boat name too
  11. and welcome from me... this place is a perfect reflection of the broads.. friendly and helpful.
  12. A firm favourite with us is the star of india in wroxham.. http://www.thestarofindia.net/.. i know it has mixed reviews although we stop in each time we go up and have never had a bad meal.. it can fill up though so you will need to book. Another good one is Balti raj on oulton broad which overlooks the broad.. although we've not been in for a few years.
  13. I've just found the time to watch .... it looks like Griff had a brilliant weekend.. I'm very jealous.. I'd love to do such a trip... Shes a stunning craft and top work for the charity to keep her going.. we have a few of these in the marina here which have been somewhat badly converted into houseboats and the double diagonal construction with cloth in the middle meant they were throw away boats really.. so it really is hard work to keep them alive (Certainly more emphasises the point to donate..) Thanks to all for recording and posting too.. (Griff looked a natural..!)
  14. I've been working hard on the sterndrive lately.. it was a bit pitted with electrolysis so I've had to work with a dremal and a tiny brush to remove all the damage and get back to good material.. then epoxy fill it, sand smooth.. then 3 coats of 2 pac epoxy undercoat, then 3 coats of underwater primer then 5 coats of topcoat.. I still need to work on the leg itself.. but for motivation we installed the transom plate and it's nice to see mounted after all this work.. it looks like a new (at least reconned unit)..
  15. Geez Mark.. they are stunning...!
  16. Ohh I'm a huge fan/addict of broadland sunrises and sunsets (even better if there's a windmill/pump and even a timber sailing boat in them!) much better than shot of a orange bathtub (No harm intended to orange bathtubs).. but agree these probably are a core essence of the broads which is probably what the calendar should capture...
  17. Thanks chaps.. I've never been down there.. although if it's the one I think it is there's a sign on the end saying private so that should keep it private.. I think we will put it on the list to take a look at when we are next up..
  18. On the other forum there's a post regarding moorings at Langley Staithe for £14 per foot per year.. that seems very very cheap to me (Cheaper infact than our current hardstanding spot in kent!).. Does anyone moor here? Would anyone recommend leaving our pride and joy in such an isolated mooring?
  19. I'd buy one.. our yacht club (used to.. before I took over webmastership) did a photo competition each year.. members submitted pictures.. the best 12 got featured.. (they did something to pick the front cover and were sponsored by the local chandlers)...
  20. Mark.. if the hull is shaped like a traditional boat (imagine "HMS victory") then's its a displacement hull.. if it looks like a little speedboat then it's planning or semi planning.. Heres the wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hull_(watercraft) Strowager is right a Norman appears to be a planning hull.. (There's only soo much google imaging I can get away at my desk in work )
  21. (sorry all I do feel a bit guilty using the forum like this!).. No I'll order orcas at some point.. We will chat on the phone at some point
