  1. (See my dad's silence says it all...! )
  2. Sorry I can't quite delete as it's the first thread so that's the best I can do.
  3. Hi Brenden, Cool tale mate. We've had a similar journey and like you quickly got carried away! Really bad news on your mooring there. Good luck with your find for a new mooring. I'd say look under the bridges as it maybe cheaper, or any yacht clubs as they will may be willing to do you a deal if you are willing to do a bit of work for them (that's certainly happens down here, hoping it's same up there). Let me know if you would like us to delete your first post.
  4. Oh all, just to advise I saw this yesterday it's somehow managed to moor just under the road bridge at oulton broad (there's a foot path there and it's stern onto the path).. We was in the car going over so not quite sure how gracefully you get your leg over the barrier there but at least it's up and running.. albeit a bit late.. Fingers crossed it's back next year as I was looking forward to doing that trip as it's probably interesting looking back from the lake there.
  5. So you are a wimp then if you can do it for a (long) weekend Steve.. I think she really meant to stick two fingers up there, so see shes so rude lol..
  6. And because someones so much of a wimp over breydon so therefore someone else can only be bothered to do it once a year...
  7. We were advised not to get a thruster on Orca as everyone promises we would learn how to handle her.. But instead to get a quick drop anchor winch.. We haven't quite agreed with the advice and will probably put one in at some point sadly not this year though.. I'd be bloody pleased just to have her back in the water at the mo.
  8. Amazing tale and brilliant pictures. Very enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing!
  9. Lol really good to meet up with you both! After so much chatting online! I really thought we would never be in the same spot! Big shame there's no space for scoot though Brilliant chat too lol. Thanks for the erm beer lol!! Have a great trip and hope to see you again on the next NBN meet up!
  10. back and to the forum. We had a long gap like you and certain things did change, sadly a less hire yards now. You will have a brill time. The weather was lovely up there this weekend!
  11. David have you thought about what you are booking next year? How about marthams??
  12. Thanks for sharing Jonathan, Amazing Pictures! The broads look stunning at the moment. Really missing not being out and about
  13. I'm just flicking through these blogs and my goodness there are stunning pictures on all of the current ones.. have you all met up together somewhere and undertaken a private photo competition?.. I'm really missing my boat now
  14. Yay well done BA (and thanks for watching the forum!)
  15. Glad you enjoyed it Jane! The southern broads are magical to say the least! Looking forward to your blog Good luck with the training.. as Peter said; you are a brave thing!!
  16. It is narrow but there should be space to turn.. if not turn the boat around using ropes i.e no power from the engine. The pub there is worth the walk, it's owned and run by the local community and is well worth a visit.
  17. Oh geez I keep forgetting it's a boat.. doesn't help that I've met the human version too lol.. Hoping to go and see JA sometime soon.. I'll bring a chocolate bar for her too.. !
  18. Your humans use west?! Wow they must be rich!! Give http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/ a call.. we got an unbranded epoxy from them although I can't see it on their website, half the price and works. West is (imho) a bit of a con. Also try http://dauntlessyachtcentre.co.uk/ on canvey island he supplies an international (interzone I think) epoxy at close to trade price which we use.. Well worth a trip over though (Big hint).. once you use it you will fall in love with it.
  19. Lovely pictures as always David.. Really enjoy it when you go away lol.. I think you should go away more. Hopefully I'll be back in mood to take some pictures soon. The broads are just the best place to take pictures. Keep your posts coming David Cheers
  20. Good point JA... but no still can't do it! I think we need Rakes Retreat and Morn moored next to each other at beccles one year.. imagine that spectical .. stunning!
  21. Looking good JA! Certainly looking like progress. Do you think given the speed of the current progress you will be floating for next year?
  22. and from me! Have a brill time.
  23. Peter, serious, slightly ignorant question(s); Do you want a fast boat on the broads though? Would a heaver slower boat be more controllable considering the narrowness and the mobos getting in the way? I would have thought a more traditional heavy boat would be better for the broads? Or is a light boat better given the inconsistency of the wind?
