We will be doing mare if people like them so you tell us what you think , subscribe if you like and comment , if you don't like also let us know thumbs down . If you have any ideas we would love to hear them so watch our first vlog just click the link below thanks ....
  4. Very nice of you to put a link up to crushing the cut but I know David even be fore he bought a boat ...
  5. All I can say is I have no problems getting fuel my coal merchant delivers straight to the boat , he even told me if your out and about and you run out just call us let us no where you are and we will drop you some off . I dust and hover every day anyway so the small amount of extra dust is not a problem , as most of you no I have a guide dog he in out running about dragging in a lot of crap shaking his hair all over the place , so when you have a big dog your constantly cleaning up after it so a little bit of coal dust really dose not bother me and I love my old dog to bits so I don't mind cleaning up after him . I don't have a narrow boat so storing my coal I really no problem The Corsican has a abundance of places for storing things . When we first put our stove in we did not have a stove fan and a lot of the heat was just rising as heat dose , however we now have a fan my god it dose make a difference , we point the fan towards the wheel house you can go and stand in there and feel the heat blowing in it's amazing and as I have said before no condensation anywhere even when I cook and I cook a lot . So Robbin I don't see any negatives in having a multi burning stove I only see the positive your always toasty your boat is lovely and dry you don't really ever need to plug in to the mains , the one thing I mist was the boat getting to hot well all that tells me is he is still learning how to set his stove there all different you have to get use to your stove and adjust it accordingly , e.g. when your sitting there and the stove is burning perfectly and it is time to cook the dinner you need to turn the stove right down or it will become unbearable but as I said you have to get use to your stove . So that's my rant over I hope I have answered all the points you made be a cool fish and swim deep ... ...
  6. And it makes the best toast ever ... Bill your wright private boats only can you imagine if they put them in hire boats good god not a good idea ...
  7. The Old Corsican with it's Wood Burring Stove was out from the 22 of December until the 2 of January what a lovely time we had , I lit the stove on the 22 when I got to the boat , it was cold and wet outside the boat was freezing inside and full of condensation , with in half a hour I had the old stove burning lovely , with in a hour the boat was toasty toasty and no sigh of the dreaded condensation . It's a fantastic stove once it was lit on the 22 it never went out until I let it on the 2 of January , whole of Christmas I was in a T shirt and jogging bottoms , there was one night I woke up about 4am it was -4 outside and for the first time I thought it's a little chilli in here I just opened the air up a little and went back to bed , got up in the morning and the boat was lovely and warm again . One thing I would like to point out is we did not fit the stove ourselves we had it all done professionally for Saftey reasons , we also have all the appropriate detectors in fact we have both 12 volt and battery detectors for smoke , fire and carbon monoxide you can never be to careful . ...
  8. Very sad news R.I.P. Iain my thoughts are with you ...
  9. Certainly a very nice boat in side I do like it my cup of tea ...
  10. Hello guys here are the pictures I forgot to post of the finished job enjoy them ...
  11. Sorry Alex been on The Corsican all weekend , weather cold but sunny very nice river dead its like having a private river , the answer to your question is yes that is heated by the engine cooling system its lovely having hot fluffy towels when you come out of the shower and then you can chill in front of the satanic stove lol ...
  12. I will take some pictures of the finished job when I am on the boat at the weekend , I forgot to do it when I took the others so have a great weekend guy's and I will post them Sunday night when I get home ... ...
  13. Just a thought I have looked on line and there plenty of bed and breakfasts in and around Horning , sometimes off season b&bs will open there doors to work parties , often giving a reduced rate as they do not have to change the beds every day or clean the rooms . the great thing is you would have all the facilities you require . You never no if you spoke nicely to them they may even assist you a packed lunch if you were not taking breakfast or if you were getting in late at night they may do you some food , who knows what they would do remember it is off season and these places are not making much money , so it would be worth ringing round and asking if you don't ask you don't get . I know you work threw the day there for it is very difficult for you to get the time to do that I have plenty of time and have free calls so if you wont some help I would be happy to phone around see what kind of deal I could get for you ...
  14. For those of you out there thinking what happened to all the space under the sink , well The Corsican has a very small galley with very few cupboards so we have cut a opening on the outside of the toilet and the new fridge now lives there hens the reason for the type of sink used . A door has been made with the piece of wood cut out framed with a nice handle fitted and the fridge sits in there lovely , so it gives us a bit of room for some cupboards in the galley ...
  15. We use our boat all year round and we love the winter , we are about to have our sixth Christmas and New Year on the river we have a wood burning stove on our boat and we do not suffer with any of these problems , ok we are out every weekend and the stove keeps the boat lovely and dry it also keeps all the condensation down even when I am cooking and I do a lot of cooking , so I would say the best way to boat in the winter is to have a wood burning stove , I don't think the boat yards will be fitting any in the near future lol ... Here is a picture I took on Sunday just as the fire was going out ...
  16. No know shower , we had the forward head turned into a sit down shower room by Phil and the team earlier this year ...
  17. Thanks for the nice comments Hylander the tray was removed as it was very uneven they basically took everything out and started again the same as they did with the forward head we really are very pleased with it ...
  18. I am sure you will agree what a lovely job Phil and the team have done . I really can't say anything negative about moonfleet , and those of you out there that know me know I would if I was not happy about something , we did get a warm friendly service and I would highly recommend them in fact next year we are having the gaily done ... Hear are some pictures of the work being done ...
  19. So nothing really wrong with the old head just over 30 years old . Hear is how it looks now after Moonfleets magic touch enjoy ...
  20. Hello there earlier this year I posted the great job that Moonfleet made of turning our old forward head into a beautiful sit down shower room . We were so pleased with the work carried out by Phil and the team at Moonfleet we decided to have the other head brought in to the twenty first century . First some pictures of how the old head looked before the work .
  21. Well a good quality 4 season sleeping bag is a must if you wish to enjoy winter boating lairs definitely a great way of keeping warm but our wood burning is definitely the dogs doo doss , went out Friday night lit our stove that was it , it did not go out until I came home to night at 7pm so it was running for 72 I used a bag and a half of bricks , coast £6 and let me tell you , you are as warm as toast not only that no condensation anywhere just a lovely dry warm boat ...
  22. Spot on I can't get this oh what can you cook on a boat , the answer to that is anything you can cook at home , we do eat out but there been so many times we have been disappointed with the food no names no pack drills that we would rather buy lovely ingredient and do it our selfs on the boat . I now have to go as I am off to the boat for the week end all the best ....
  23. Well this will be the sixth Christmas and New Year I will have spent on the river , each one has been fantastic we have had every weather condition from snow to sun and it has not bothered us one bit . We have never booked to eat in anywhere I always do all the cooking all home made no jars of crap all good home cooked food and many people have enjoyed a meal at our table over the Christmas holiday's . I have already started getting things in for this Christmas and planning the menu really looking forward to number six long may they continue ...
