  1. Whilst the main suppliers of lost fend-offs, the hire yards, all use various sizes and colours, it's inevitable that us collectors, retrievers from reedbeds, will have non matching sets. Perhaps we should have a forum swop shop so we can make up matching sets!
  2. Or maybe a collector of fend-offs!
  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leisure_17 I see that the mast is 6.1m high, hardly any great need for additional lifting/lowering gear other than a block on the stem-head, in my honest opinion.

  5. DavidH, whatever happens in the hire-boat arena will eventually impact on us all. I am not sure that I wholly welcome the changes thrust upon the Broads by the big, sea-going private boats so I view this upwards move by Hoseasons with a degree of trepidation. I wonder how the local licenced trade will react, are we to be swamped with bijou, boutique wine bars? Will I still be welcome in the boozer wearing shorts, a slop & muddy wellies? Chelsea by the river we are not, at least not yet.
  6. Watershed, have found the LOA contact details, will p.m. them to you. Oh no I won't, I see that you are sorted, thanks to Spider.
  7. I am pretty certain that there is a Broads based 'Leisure' owners association. Nice little boats. Indeed I think their contact details are in The Green Book.
  8. In Menorca! Not on the Broads? Mind you, with the weather of the last week or so I can't blame you!
  9. Not sure that Lathams will fit in with Hoseasons aspirations then. Imagine a Waitrose setting up shop at Potter or Stalham!
  10. I thought it strange that Thorpe should be flooded whilst elsewhere was not! Even toddled down the garden to check my moorings. Just did not register the 2013!
  11. Don't know about that, Dan. We can't have the nobs having to mix with the prolls!
  12. And not always won, witness the Hearts Cruisers mooring basin at Thorpe. Not that the developers got all that they wanted, despite an appeal.
  13. http://www.edp24.co.uk/business/hoseasons_announced_upmarket_rebrand_1_3781721 Wonder what will happen to their less salubrious boat-yards? It saddens me that Hoseasons, along with a few others, appear to be turning their backs on the less well off.
  14. I have to say that I would never have an acrylic cover again. I have found that it is an absolute pig to clean algae and shy-talk poo off. For our next cover it will be a modern, lightweight p.v.c.
  15. Hopefully, Kev, your window is made of toughened glass
  16. Jan, sounds like those folk boarding your yacht did so as much to protect your boat as to protect their own. So as you say, the moral of the story is perhaps that some situations call for different responses.
  17. Manners AND common courtesy are becoming increasingly rare, regretfully. As a breed we are becoming increasingly insular.
  18. When in Rome do as the Romans do
  19. Agreed, Kev, he should have asked.
  20. Well, I think that you are all wrong! Yes, he should have asked before boarding, but surely we all have an interest in helping each other, it's what boating has long been about. Personally I would have also offered to help. After all, another time and it might have been me requiring help.
  21. I've got three lawns, er-hem nightmare, so there! At least an hours sailing or fishing time lost every week cutting the blessed stuff.
  22. We went up to Beccles on Saturday, left my camera at home, but it was a grey day and the wind was light to nonexistent. Today we went from the WRC to Oulton Broad, the winds were very fickle, from near nothing to gale force, hence these two well reefed Drascombes. Good weekend, the WRC proved to be an excellent and popular venue.
  23. Am I waiting for other folk or are other folk waiting for me or is the idea on ice?
