  1. The shop and windpump moorings have been chargeable for as long as I remember, at least twenty years and they charge for the pub/Temple.
  2. And the temple isn't always open. Two years ago they had a fate in the afternoon when we were there.
  3. Very true ,the road is clearly the route to Great Yarmouth to and from. Therefore most people aim to head into Yarmouth or going home.I did look at the chance to buy the pub. What I don't understand is the moorings to the pub.I'm fairly sure they came with the pub,yet the stracey windpump and shop seem to control that stretch of moorings. That's not helpful. To work it needs something like the Whitehorse. Good food and beer bringing people in from the river and grub some from the road.
  4. Yes it should have attracted more from the river and the road, but never did.
  5. As I said we went there once,we had Paella, perhaps the worse Paella I ever had.Think they moved to what was the Hermitage .Seem to remember they didn't last long there either.
  6. Only went once, not impressed at all.
  7. Once it went it was replaced with a Tapas restaurant. Another restaurant that didn't work.
  8. Some years back, the house up from us they pulled up tiles,I brought them off them, which I've still got.We have many original features, some sadly long gone. Some we restored or put in.In the living room, one afternoon Marina and I knocked out what was the covered in fireplace. Very common in the sixties and seventies. Had the chimney checked and sweated, then put in a reproduction fireplace. Alan and myself restored the Banisters and spindles.
  9. Another small step(pun intended),in getting the house ready to sell. The other day we got some red paint to do the step and inside of our porch. It reminded me when I was a child and most houses in our road had bright red steps into the house.Which often were kept in good condition by,often the ladys of the house. I know lots of you are not oldies like me,but what are your memories of childhood?
  10. I surprised myself considering I had pneumonia since late June.
  11. Pleased to say two bedrooms living and dining room, hall and stairs. One bedroom last October, kichen and bathroom the year before. Think I must have shares now in B&Q.
  12. This week Marina and I finished painting the hall and stairs.Still got bits to do in the garden. For sure this un planned break has meant we have got the house in the right place. Some photos. Firstly when we stripped back the paper,or should I say papers, off the wall bringing plaster with it. The Banisters and spindles, had many layers of paint.Alan an myself took 3 months to strip them back then I stained them.Considering that was over twenty years ago they were in just a need of slight re staining. The fist photos are photos of photos. You may notice the picture is a kingfisher and the hallway some pictures of Norfolk.
  13. What year are you thinking it was? North or south broads? And welcome to the forum. Ian.
  14. As others have said best to pre book some pub mooring. The ferry house Surlingham.Always busy.Best to book mooring and food. For me one of the best pubs on the broads. When we go to Oulton broad we book at the YS.When moored check your ropes due to raise and fall of tides.Try going with the tide. This saves on fuel and is easier. Do moor against the tide and not with the tide.
  15. Very helpful, that's where I've been going wrong before.
  16. If I was still working at Goldmans Sachs,I could feed the lot!
  17. I don't think it's not formica. My feeling it's not very old.The covering appears to be soft.I would love to be able to repair it.My problem my DIY skills are useless. I don't know one end of a screwdriver from the other.
  18. We are up on the boat,Saturday week, for two weeks.A few photos from the other week.Taken at Loddon and Brundall church.Very nice (hot) few days, and Marina' apple picking from our tree.About 20kg.Not bad considering most years counted on both hands.
  19. Thanks to Peter,at long last I managed to log back into the forum.Saturday 1 August I got a new phone,my old phone gave up the will to live.Since then I was unable to log back in.Now I'm back. Ian
  20. Last saturday I got a new mobile, since then Ive not been able to log on using my mobile .I tried my password and its not accepted. Can you please send me a new password. Regards Ian.
  21. My point is clear I asked the same question. Will the BA 24 hour moorings remain at Bern. The anwer was yeas.I reported that here and on the Southern broads boat owners. They in turn kept asking me pointless questions,There response to me was I feel out of order. With due respect it seems whatever I say you disagree with! Maybe this also may push me to depart from this forum I don't mind healthy debate, but of late I feel at times to being picked on. I will leave it at that lifes to short putting up with this.
  22. Last night I pulled out of the southern broads boat owners. This is s group on Facebook. Like here I posted my reply regarding the BA 24 hour moorings. Due to my concern that they would pull out of Berney. They said as reported that they will remain thankfully. Sunday and yesterday about four people linked with the application I assume kept asking me what BA said to me.I told them many times my question just concerned there moorings. None of them believed me.They said oh are there moorings then have slower running tide/water then the pub often swearing and whatever I said they just wouldn't accept what I told them.Yesterday it got to the point where I was receiving comments almost constantly. Therefore I pulled out of that group. Clearly they are upset by the application. To keep asking silly questions, when they would be better off looking at an improved application to there liecence. What this whole thing has done personally is if these people gain a liecence for Berney they won't see me there as a customer.
  23. He is a bit of a Basil .Been a few years since I've been there.I do like the pub however.
  24. Both of which are very strict, and if you dont meet standards. You will be unable to trade.
