  1. Totally agree. I am sure that their site used to have a photo of Tumblehome's interior but it is not there now. It is true of boats in general though. Not so true of inland waterways due to the benign conditions but in my many years seagoing as a family you can spent many days in harbour even in high summer and living accommodation is then very important. I have noticed builders, Cornish Crabbers being an example show far fewer interior shots than they once did. Unless it is a way to get you to look in person at an agent or boat show?
  2. Sounds great, love to see it out on the water when it is ready.
  3. Above you sleeping head position by 18 inches min.ceiling level in saloon where sitting and standing.
  4. I was always under the impression that the Acid Rain that fell on Scandinavia was as a result of our coal fired power stations emmitting vast quantities of sulphur and nitrous oxides which was wind driven their way. When it combined readily with rain it fell as sulphuric and nitric H2SO4 and HNO3. In weak solution
  5. Not trying to split hairs but that is The River Wensum. The Yare does it's own thing a fraction upstream from Whitlingham.
  6. Sounds a bit like the International 2.4mR Always wanted to try one and an affordable racer. Probably because how can a boat so short look so good in the water?
  7. For anyone in my old neck of the woods ie Chilterns and South Oxford and Bucks Thames Raters can be seen at the Upper Thames Sailing Club at Bourne End. It is a very beautiful Stretch of river and makes a good day out. Marlow and Henley being very close.
  8. And me, no true transom allowing the flow up under the canopy. Sorry to hear that it sparked unhappy memories Ricardo. I remember your loss, tragic.
  9. Do you know what the starting fleet was?
  10. I was only joking, I would imagine the BA and it's waterbourne staff are like the RNLI. That a salvage claim is just not done.
  11. Was their painter passed? Or were they passed the tow? Does salvage convention apply of The Broads?
  12. I am afraid that the weather has cost Potter businesses dearly, on a sunny 3R you cant see the staithe or the grass on the pilot office side for people. Cars can hardly cross the bridge for folk hanging over the parapets. And all of them having a drink and eating burgers, hotdogs and fish and chips. Such a pity.

It looked like a punt went under a few minutes ago. Weather looks better down there it is pouring down here just south of Cromer.
  14. Ummm! Bit mirror like! Hope a bit of sea breeze kicks in. I am 1 mile inland and it is warming up now, so fingers crossed.
  15. So shall some of the boats from this year's race looking out of my window at 0530, flat calm and steady drizzle. Good luck to all from me also.
  16. The answer could be to wear what a lot of dinghy cruisers and raiders wear. "Ventile" some folk swear by it, there is a place in Scotland do made to measure.
  17. I think dabitoff was relauched not that long ago. But not in a glass bottle with a pad or based on Trichloroethylene. It was not nice to use as years ago it was used as an alternative to Ether. I have a feeling it is now used only industrially as it was found to be a carcinogen and when inhaled could cause arrhythmias. In fact I think it is pretty much banned everwhere. You need to be careful and test as suggested above because a common way of bonding and welding plastics is to use strong solvents like MEK.
  18. It is now looking like good foulies are going to be the order of the day for Saturday, damn shame after all the dry we have had.
  19. I was in Potter today. I wanted a new, cheap beach rod for casting feathers. I thought it looked so much smarter from the Staithe area. However they really do need to tidy up the non river side of the building viewed by anyone going to the toilets it is still it's rundown self. Nice to see tables out on the river bank, I wish them well. This weekend should give them a boost as folk wait to see the carnage! Although with pathetic wind speed and rain forecast maybe the Potter Bridge crowds will be much smaller this year.
  20. On the subject of fishing. Years ago, when cars had gutters around the roof line you could buy rod holders that clamped to the gutters like the old roof racks. My father and I were both Bristol Water Works season ticket holders. This allowed us to fish Chew, Blagdon and The Barrows and we could travel between waters without stripping down. Are such things available still? It would be very useful for me to just nip down the beach and keep my rod made up in the garage.
  21. In calm weather in summer you can have great fun with a fly rod if Mackerel are about. A decent size one fights like a game fish. Nice eaten absolutely fresh with good bread and butter. Weybourne and Salthouse beaches can produce Mackerel close in. However the best fly/mackerel beat I have ever fished was from Rock-A-Nore, Hastings right where the car park sticks out. Not been for a few years I wonder if it still fishes well?
  22. It will all sort it's self out in the fullness of time, you will see! Get those 11000 houses built along it's length and the ave speed down to 12mph as everyone from them commutes and it will be as grid locked as the old orbital. I think your friend may be correct Q.
  23. Hi David, I am not really a follower of other folks holiday logs but yours became compulsive reading for me due in no small part to our shared unwanted status that we are powerless to do anything about. It is now my turn to take inspiration and a leaf from your book as I am going to have a few days away next month. This will be the first time for me since I lost Judith eighteen months ago. Yes, I have been away quite a bit including nearly five weeks in Australia but only in the company of one or both of my sons. For my first solo I am going to an area we both liked, not far, just Suffolk. Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Orford, Shingle Street area. Having a day out on a Thames sailing barge on the Orwell and Stour and if it is not full of coaches Flatford Mill. I am so pleased that your break was a success and send you heartfelt best wishes for your next one.
  24. It is going to be a beautiful craft.
