  1. my concern is that if the websites are stating it is thus now, then in 10/ 20 years time how many people will remember the for marketing purposes only part, since all their online searches will just show it as a national park, and that will include the officials searching.
  2. ok I was busy yesterday, so the drawing wasnt finished until this morning - here is the initial pattern, this will be modified to the shape of the cabin sides and toe rails, then the decking will be drawn on to this.
  3. like most cranes I am sure it will have sensors that stop it being extended too far under load, but you wouldnt want to try it and get it stuck. pointing out the back with a dangling rib.
  4. As I said on the other thread, slowly the park is accepted by the masses as a national park, until at some point nobody remembers that it was just for marketing purposes
  5. Ah just goes to show that even the chief mod can have his post hidden (by himself after second thoughts)
  6. Probably because there is a bridge there instead?
  7. I think the crane is mounted too far forward on the port side for that (Robin will know of course)
  8. Oh, he was on local cider - nuff said. we had a local cider maker in kent that was shut down by customs and excise as his cider was stronger than port. the pub it was sold at wouldnt sell you a second half pint, and you could still crawl out legless after that half pint.
  9. Oh, I thought that was the lane for Australian cyclists. on the subject of crossings and high hedges, I nearly flattened a group of 3 cyclists, who did just that, straight out from behind a high hedge at right angles to the road, onto a pedestrian crossing, fortunately the crossing is just around the corner from my house, so I always go slow there, and managed to stop. the three police cyclists did have the shame to look guilty at crossing contrary to the lights.
  10. once you have been proposed and accepted as a full member with access to the members area the limit is lifted, your title above your picture changes automatically when you get past a certain number of posts, but the one below your picture is the important one in this case.
  11. Just had a look and its 10 per day, but I cant find if that is rolling or works to a set clock - our timezone may be UTC so might be an hour different at times or it may work on the hosts timezone in the usa.
  12. Snowy, your reply has been hidden for the moment while the moderators discuss whether it has infringed any of the terms of the forum. as per the normal procedure with these things.
  13. well as I got in to work early today I have taken a few minutes to import the scans into CAD and create the patterns. I thought I would give you an insight into the process, so here is the drawing as it currently is, on the decks i drew a 50mm grid, the cross lines were done by eye, so the scans have been imported into CAd and then aligned to the grid lines I created in CAD, then they were scaled to match the grid. I have outlined the bow section and adjusted the grid lines to match the pencil lines on the wood (this is important as I will be using those grid lines on the wood to measure for adjustments when I have fitted the deck and the toe rails etc. The side decks have been aligned to the grid and scaled, and I am in the process here of adjusting the vertical grids to the pencil lines. this is where it will stop until lunch time when I will have some more time to work on this, real work is beckoning.
  14. I must say, having looked over the photos, she is looking really smart with that new decking - something for people to look forward two when you see her out and about this coming season.
  15. Not at all Charlie, there is a lot of work to do before I get to the stage I need the deck planking, it was just that last night I had the thought that I really needed to scan the deck parts before I glued them down (much easier option). the dek-king comes later once I have the decks on, cabin sides and toe rails sorted. Thanks for the photos anyway.
  16. well the deck pieces came into work with me, they have had a grid pencilled on and have been scanned in on the A3 copier at work, next job is to piece together the pieces in CAD, scale them and trace around the deck outline - this will get smaller when the cabin sides and toe rails are fitted, so the CAD drawing will be amended to the new extents then the 'teak with black caulking' drawn on and suitably coloured then laser printed ready to be glued into place on the decks, a suitable coating of varnish will be applied to waterproof the whole and seal it to the deck.
  17. I have just remembered I need to scan the deck pieces before I fit them to the boat, this is so I will be able to create the teak and holly decking in CAD to apply to the decking, once again though, the pattern created will need to reduce in size by the toe rail thickness and the cabin side thickness, so a grid will be drawn onto the parts before scanning, this will after fitting enable me to measure the points of the deck after the cabin sides and toe rail s have been fitted to give me an accurate pattern for teak and holly deck, of course I will also need to see the pattern it is laid to give me the correct plank count and edgings. Ah so much to think about in the middle of the night.
  18. I can see that a hybrid boat (sails and electric) would bring serious advantages.
  19. generally no, but only when you think they dont have the right to an opinion - in that case certainly
  20. unfortunately that is not so, a moderator must have the patience of a saint and a hide like a rhino, those were the only qualifications I was told about
  21. on that count- should we make all the trouble makers mods - so they cannot post - No Moderators have as much right as anyone to post an opinion, and just as much right to take offence when they are attacked, now can we get back to the subject in hand before this thread takes any more of a turn the way its heading. it was moving along nicely earlier.
