  1. I can see blue angel and on business in the approx location in the marina, plus a bunch of fishing vessels
  2. been keeping my eyes on the marine traffic website there are a few boats in the basin with ID's showing, but none recognizable yet, looking at the webcams its tipping it down there so maybe they are cracking on with the to do list.
  3. well the patterns are all cut and have been marked for the relief of the top rail, at present the side patterns are being glued into one piece. the relief sections will be cut out, checked for accuracy, then transferred to the deck timber. the offcuts will be kept to clamp the top rail into place while it is glued up and bent to shape, the bow section of the top rail will need to be steamed as the curve there is excessive.
  4. I go find it inconsistent that they dont consider 350 apple trees can be agricultural use. it does strike me that the landowner may have upset someone, and to be told to remove disabled access must surely go against some planning policy for disability, but on the flip side, we are probably not hearing the full side of the argument from either party, each will be putting forward the best light for their side.
  5. This morning its time to make the patterns for the decks, these are cut to fit the deck, then cut back to allow the top rails to sit over the hull, then the deck piece will be cut, and then used to shape the top rails, there are a lot of steps to take before the decks can be fixed down.
  6. I see on shipfinder that a boat called on business has appeared at anchor near to where Independence is moored.
  7. I feel that as long as there are people like JM keeping a weather eye on what they are doing and posting it here, then the BA wont be allowed to just slip anything through, without someone raising a ruckus, though on every count there will be others with the opposite view. as long as both exist and manage to post their views without resorting to insults, we will end up with a balanced view at the end of the day.
  8. No, I dont avoid posting on the threads generally, I might avoid posting on the subject (well other than as a new moderator to warn people when they are making their arguments too personal or otherwise out of the boundaries of the terms people signed up to when they joined) - or to gently rib JM on the topic occasionally.
  9. its not easy to see, but the ripple - if not totally removed - is at least greatly reduced, to the point where I am happy the deck sheet will sit correctly
  10. well thats a turn up for the books, I thought I would look on the shipfinder site and see if Independance had her ID flashing up yet - apparently not, but I must warn the crew to be careful as there appears to be a dredger proceeding up Grenville road.
  11. vote for them in national park of the year - well I can imagine your reaction to that one JM. have you cleaned the tea out of the keyboard yet?
  12. Tim, I am well placed to get you some Channel eau de toilet (I'll just pop down the beach next to the sewage outfall with some old pop bottles)
  13. I think the main worry is whether it is still in the can so to speak, and if it is, why?
  14. of course in years gone by, they would have a man there who put a cone in front of the traffic if the barrier had broken. but in this modern day and age you just cant trust drivers enough to stop if there wasnt a physical barrier to stop them driving off the edge of the bridge when it was open.
  15. Last night was a messy dusty evening sanding the deck supports smooth, I am happy with the port side deck, but there are a couple of spots on the starboard deck where the line of the deck wibbles a bit, so I need to concentrate on those areas to bring about a nice deck line on that side, I will try and remember to get photographs of it before I start and when I have finished. The line is fine at the side rail, it just rises a little at one point on the inner rail at one of the bulkheads, its only really visible now all the supports are in and wont take much to sort it out.
  16. we might get video of them sailing into port at Ramsgate, but generally they will be beyond all but a decent video cameras lens, but well within reach of my big camera lenses.
  17. We already have a plan in place to get pictures as Indy rounds up along the Kent coast en route, we should be able to get pictures from a few Locations between Dungeness and Ramsgate
  18. I am not too sure - I guess it depends upon whether Griff has had baked beans for breakfast

was it a straw one or stick?
  20. hence Griffs comments about opening her up over Breydon.
  21. i seem to recall that was their original plan, but as they were now heading for Brundall, they would be coming in through Yarmouth
  22. Ah I assumed that the car park there was a public one - not Lathams.
