  1. I believe they are currently being printed, if they are half as good as the proof I saw I think you will be very happy, one of the team will I am sure be along soon to confirm.
  2. so today, after shopping (and christmas shopping) during which I purchased a set of plastic shot glasses (for mixing) it was down to the first layer of the varnish - step one 25% varnish - 75% turpentine (ooh lovely pine fresh smell) I mixed up a tiny amount 9ml turps, 3ml varnish (I have some syringe bodies that make this easy) and yes you guessed it - way more than I needed, no matter, some of the woodwork on model #1 got a coat too (and I still had some left over) anyhow - now to leave for 24 hours to dry (indoors at 21 degrees - the workshop has warmed up to 11 deg from 6 deg overnight).
  3. A little update none the less, the final part of a present from Griff arrived today, I now have the same varnish turps and brushes used in the glorious finish that Broad Ambition sports, I have the full application instructions, so will be starting off with the stern of the model, 6 coats - as per the real thing.
  4. I would not wear shorts on a motorbike, whatever the weather, just from the safety aspect
  5. Well, nothing will get done tonight as I have just walked in the door, an accident just outside canterbury held me up for an hour and a half, so stopped off at the chippie for tea.
  6. ditto, work trousers for work, shorts the rest of the time, I do put a fleece on my top to keep warm.
  7. the christmas present is progressing, I will try and post pictures tomorrow night
  8. not posted much here, but the side deck supports are slowly progressing - I havent taken any pictures for a few days - hence the reason for not posting
  9. inspection hatch in the deck should be achievable, you would need to thin the teak decking where the hatch was, and it would be removable from beneath only, would have a rubber seal between it and the hull, with nuts underneath (maybe wingnuts) the cover would have welded studs protruding to attach the nuts to.
  10. I wonder if it would be worth obtaining a 1000 litre IBC container and have one tank totally emptied into it, then cleaned and then the next tank pumped into the clean tank, followed by the third tank into the second, then the fuel in the IBC could be returned to the last tank after cleaning - or is this something they do anyway. do the inspection hatches have openings above for easier access (eg a bolt on hatch above) and if not, that may be a job to do at a later date so that access is easier in future. looking at the drawings in the owners manual, there could be access hatches set into the side decks to the top of the fuel tanks. either way a photographic/ video record of the process will be useful, it might even be worth photographing the location of the inspection hatches to be able to provide with a request for their services next time (or any time in future)
  11. some of this (affordable or social) housing will be run through housing association, or sold to first time buyers at a discount, otherwise it may just be a single occupancy or 1 bedroom flat, intended to get people onto the housing ladder, it does vary a lot from development to development. while political policy may dictate the provision of such housing, I don't believe that discussing the make up of the accommodation presented on a new development is a political subject, any more than a question of wondering how many 4 bedroom three bedroom, etc properties will make up the development is a political thing.
  12. I'll just throw one in my rucksack to take camping - portable, who are they trying to kid.
  13. I think you will find that most projects nowadays have to provide a certain percentage of affordable (or sometimes referred to as social) housing to conform to government guidelines, though there may be a minimum number they are allowed to build without including affordable housing. we see this in effect on most if not all of the projects that come through our office.
  14. I've considered it, but I would never fit one in the garden.
  15. well I think he should call in saying he is in a right state (the state of independance).
  16. a few more side beams fitted today, not too much as I was busy, making presents and visiting parents.
  17. a few more hours work brings me to here - the holes still need enlarging slightly, so the pegs fit a bit deeper, then its sanding, cleaning up and finishing required. then one hand made Christmas present ready for my parents.
  18. over at my parents today, my dad said they were thinking of putting coat hooks in their new conservatory, inspired, I now know what to make them for christmas. 2 hooks turned.
  19. well the speed controllers for my lathe arrived, tested, then a 3d box was designed and printed, the speed controller and on off switch added. this was fixed to the lathe baseboard (then moved after I figured the handle for manual threading would not clear it).
  20. today, whilst also getting a few other jobs done - it was flying chips time, testing out the wood lathe I got the other weekend. some scrap timber resulted in a couple of test pieces.
  21. so between other stuff today, a couple more side supports each side have been installed.
