  1. will installing the sonar mean an out of the water job to install new transducers? or can the system use existing ones (if fitted)
  2. Ah, I will definitely be taking a look at that when I get to work, anything with drawings is fun
  3. I have the lidl version of that for my model boat - good piece of kit.
  4. being a volvo, the housing just folded back against the side, the new glass was self adhesive and just cost £12 for a 17 year old car, I wouldnt have minded as the road is pretty narrow there, but I already had one side half off the road, and I could see he was travelling down the middle of the road, he would have been in a head on collision if I had been as far out as he was. still I guess he came off worse, and he will think twice about hogging the road next time.
  5. last night I started putting in the deck supports down the sides, I was going to do some more this evening, but a shattered wing mirror and massive delays at the bridge tonight put paid to that, I got to halfords just in time to get the new mirror glass, then had to fit it while my tea was cooking, needless to say I have only just finished eating, so my evening is gone. ah well, cant have it every way I suppose, at least I have a new drivers rear view mirror, which will make lane changing easy again.
  6. is that the smell of rag and bone horse sweat? - (sorry that would be terre de Hercules now wouldnt it)
  7. the joke in the office worked wonderfully, the aircon box on the wall received a 'locked' cover this morning which had a cluster of people round it this morning, wondering how it was fitted.
  8. Thanks Mark, we will have a look at that.
  9. its quite a loose fit, and I might want to angle it, so I will see how it goes, thanks for the warning though, I will keep my eyes on it.
  10. Another little project for this evening, with chisels lying around over the bench it was time to tidy them up, holes were drilled and a rack made, for now its clamped to one of my shelves.
  11. if you go back a page I fixed the original jpg - or see here.
  12. day off work today, so workshop time, after a trip to the local tool shop to get some welding wire, some new nozzles and some air compressor oil, it was time to do some work, maintenance was done on the mig welder, it now feeds properly. then it was on to making a tool rest for the wood turning lathe I picked up at the boot fair at the weekend. after that it was an oil change for the compressor, I took the drain plug out and for some reason it wasnt draining well, so a quick blast of compressed air cleared the crud blockage and allowed it to drain properly, topped up again with new oil, and it was ready to go. another project completed today was a cover to put over the air con controls at work, everyone tweaks it as they walk past, so it goes from cold to hot, to cold, all day, so I have made a barred cover to hide the controls, with a false lock and hinges, more as a bit of a joke really, today it was painted white to make it less obvious.
  13. just fixed your first post, it seemed as though the file name had lost the jpg off the end and replaced it with the filename.
  14. I can open the pdf ok (in another window when I click on it), I just drag the picture into the box below where you are typing that says drag files here.
  15. well thats her christmas present sorted, a nice pair of wellies...
  16. on my lathe pulley belting has been obtained, still awaiting a 15A speed controller, so motor has been removed. meanwhile prompted by the chairman of my astronomy club, who announced that I would undoubtedly be bringing along a wacky entry for our club christmas buffet and competition, I have been preparing my entry for next month. Yes its a 3d printed set of planets, set on stalks, painted and mounted on a board, the spacing is on a logarithmic scale for the distance from the sun, where the spacing works out quite well.
  17. and my grateful thanks go to Geoffery, the dumplings came out beautifully, and both my daughter and I liked them. it was certainly a change from stew and mash.
  18. well its 45 minutes later and the dumplings are looking good. just waiting now for my daughter to wake up (she is on night shifts) and come down for food.
  19. several hours later and the stews looking good. I removed enough to do another tea another day, then made up the dumplings and added them to the stew, they will now get half an hour or 45 minutes (we will see how it goes, this is a slow cooker after all).
  20. well the stew is in the slow cooker (been there for 1 1/2 hours so far, 5 hours to go. I got some frying steak which was cubed up for the pot, carrots turnip, onions and a couple of potatoes were cubed up and added, plus a couple of stock cubes. off to the shops next and suet and self raising flour purchased, now my only concern is if there is space for the dumplings, I do have a plan B, half of the stew may be transferred into a second slow cooker later which should make room for the dumplings. more later once I have added dumplings.
  21. well lots more sanding later, and I am getting there.
  22. this morning after shopping it was down to work, sanding and rasping and filing, until I got to the point where I could fair the hull into the stem. I also dug out an extra clamping, rotating vice for added support, this has enabled me to tip the model to a better position to sand the stem. I have then used the filler to smooth the hull into the stem, this is now setting so that later I can finish sanding the stem into place.
