  1. The houseboat lives there with permission of the parish council. I think it's name is Heather and it very old (I think I'm correct but happy to be corrected)
  2. I note the NSBA has made some very strong objections and points I am pretty sure that they are keen to have their press release shared but it is available to read on at least one FB group. I'm not sharing in view of the original issues on this thread. Liz
  3. The parish boundaries are a tad confusing around there just to make it more complicated https://www.streetmap.co.uk/map?x=634138&y=317506&z=120&sv=horning&st=3&tl=Map+of+Horning,+Norfolk+[Town]&searchp=ids&mapp=map
  4. It is confusing but that is Hoveton Upper Street not Horning Upper Street
  5. That wasn't Upper Street but simply Neatishead Road - had me confused for a moment or two. When you are at your moorings you need to turn right out of Ferry View Estate to walk to Upper Street (and Horning Church) but there are plenty of walking opportunities in that direction as well Liz
  6. Dogs are taking over without doubt! And very content
  7. If people are thinking about trying out the Horning Ferry - they are shutting for a few weeks whilst they do some improvements. I also read that this applies to the Reedham Ferry as well for a few weeks.
  8. They won't be Horning, they don't have a peel but Ranworth does but depending on the wind direction they might be Coltishall???
  9. Take some photos and see in the morning if Vaughan can give you some advice on a self fix?
  10. I'm pleased it was up to your high standards! I'm feeling very full after a turkey roast with stacks of trimmings followed by Christmas pud (my father's recipe) plus a few glasses of wine Happy Christmas everyone albeit a bit late Liz
  11. Found it!!! Dated about 1944 Plus the one that was in the book about Horning in the war.
  12. It's also probably why our house hasn't shown significant signs of subsidence compared to some of the other houses on the development!!!
  13. I'm sure I have a scan of the photo in the house of an MTB being launched but can I find it??? Liz
  14. They were blue in the 70s (I'm sure) as they were opposite our house built on his yard! Slipway under our house. The dykes opposite where they were moored were built to enable MTBs built in the shed to be launched
  15. I think a Zoom evening or two in the New Year might be a really nice way of getting to know other forum members. Put faces to names?
  16. I think this is the aerial photo I meant - sure it's been posted on here before! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133475091774
  17. Think Vaughan has as much knowledge. Although this map is 1888-1913 it still shows Horning probably as it almost was? https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=15.0&lat=52.70206&lon=1.46907&layers=6&right=ESRIWorld Just opposite the Petersfield (as was) there is still some lagoons and I can imagine that as the willow pattern harbour as there were/are wooden bridges, the pines of the Petersfield - all a bit willow pattern? I've seen an old aerial photos online but can't find it at the moment! Broadland Memories has loads of photos of Horning but the Francis Frith archive is pretty impressive https://www.francisfrith.com/horning/photos This one might look uninteresting but the concrete pavement is still there - you walk on it when you go to the Chinese which is the building in the corner. The cottages are still there but the boatsheds which say HT Percival is the development where I lived between 1970 and 1981 etc. https://www.francisfrith.com/horning/horning-the-village-c1965_h116118 Liz

    My Day

    Peace

It was the absence of photos made me think you didn't make it!!! Tell Mrs Nog that Gin Mare in the New Inn is quite agreeable, I had it with full fat original Fever Tree. It was a brand new bottle so she might be the 2nd person to try it. It comes from Spain and I had some Formentera in April The Ferry does have a good variety of beers.....
  20. I make mine using a sweet pastry made in the food processor using French flour bought in France. Farine de ble - premiere extraction (accents missing). Hopefully my stock will last as aren't planning any future trips ☹️

    Peace

And I assume you couldn't get to Cromer because of the train strikes? Hope the Swan stays open tonight! Maybe the New Inn has got more than Doom Bar on as well?

    Brrr!

I can vouch for that! I would say it was more like Newmarket

    Peace

As we drove through the village, I looked for you but all I could see were private boats! It was just before 9 so suspect you had already moved on.

    Brrr!

Now back in snowy Hertfordshire, I can beat Bikertov as we have 4" - I measured it!! This is why in Norfolk today all your EDPs weren't in the shops because they are almost certainly printed at the Times Newspapers printing works just off Jnct 25 of the M25 The cats aren't happy Liz
