  1. I went sailing at Horning yesterday morning, forecast was gentle breeze and some rain. Managed to finish two races with three up (it was not gentle) and put the boat away without getting the sail wet. Walked back down the clubhouse and watched the rain clouds piling in!!! Forecast said 2pm 99% chance of rain!!!! 100% it absolutely tipped it down dead on the dot - I can vouch for that!
  2. 14:59 mine went off (Tesco) daughter's at 15:00, husband turned off emergency notifications on his phone - driving down the A11 before the signal disappears
  3. As reported on the Norfolk Wherry Trust - Home of Albion FB page. I bought his book soon after we moved to Horning in 1970, I was hooked by the history of wherries and the Broads "We're sad to report that our good friend, the maritime author, Bob Malster passed away last night. Bob's "Wherries and Waterways", together with Roy Clark's "Black Sailed Traders" remain the "go to" information sources for all wherry enthusiasts. Bob can be seen on what was his last time aboard Albion at the Ella Centenary celebrations in 2012. RIP Bob. 4. The Mississippi comes out of Horning - most evening events are private functions. However, in the summer months NBN send out one of their party/trip boats with a weekly evening disco cruise with I believe the general party onboard - this is the really noisy one!!! That tends to turn somewhere downstream of Horning!!!
  5. Its the Wednesday night Wroxham party boat one which you will know about! The music is on a continuous reel so when its gets to Horning it is ALWAYS the same tune, it turns around and again as it returns its always the same.
  6. You need to rent a driveway,
  7. Save it as a word doc and copy and paste tomorrow?
  8. The new Neatishead one stood out against a very dark sky the other week. Also visible from Horning Church - it really does stand out!
  9. I thought it was now at Neatishead? There is one there now?
  10. A question if you live in the East Suffolk Council area do you have to pay for mooring over night at Beccles or Oulton Broad Yacht Stations? I assume you have also had to pay for them in your council rates? I should add I am totally against the intended charging by the BA for mooring at Ranworth.
  11. Just saw it and was about to post - thank you
  12. Somerleyton, Beccles, the Oulton Broads and even Haddiscoe or Norwich
  13. http://www.norwich-heritage.co.uk/publications/Boot_and_Shoe_Book_extract.pdf Just found this online
  14. Watching a video on YouTube saw this Wilds at Hebden Bridge on the Rochdale Canal. It's a screen shot so on the big screen might be very blurred
  15. A lot of places expect you to ring and pay. That's how Epping Forest works if you don't have cash. Then the rangers do spot checks by driving around the carparks....Not so easy when the mooring isn't close to a road for the BA!! Not so easy if there isn't a phone signal for the boat!
  16. Why was this thread locked briefly????
  17. Its not quite obvious from the photos what has happened as there appears to be areas on fire?

    Swan Moorings

You are supposed to be able to park at the village hall and walk down the hill. There are yellow lines for a fair stretch of Lower Street which activate I think at Easter/April People often park close to where the Petersfield used to be..........

    Swan Moorings

There was a section that had to be repaired in the last few years, I think they probably have to maintain the area up to the sailing club bridge but the Q might correct me on this. Some sections do have club boats moored but not all. I think this is a difficult one to answer really - I don't know how they plan to recoup the mooring fees, whether they intend employing a full time member of staff which up to now they haven't or not in recent years anyway, unlike the New Inn or the Ferry
  20. Very sad indeed - a highly valued and respected contributor to this forum
  21. Sticking with a dirty diesel is fine unless you own one and live within 15 miles of the proposed forthcoming ULEZ which will be the M25!
  22. I would have liked to go on a trip but there are so many days in a holiday
  23. It has been mid 30s+ but now after rain yesterday and a new area cooler so around 20?
