  4. Its a mini Three Rivers Race organised by the Snowflakes SC - they use the Horning SC base in winter. Its starts in Horning - today from the club I understand but sometimes they start at Horning Ferry or at the Waterworks depending on the weather conditions. They will probably finish at the clubhouse but if the wind conditions aren't favourable they might make the finish at the waterworks or the Ferry. Open to all sailing boats including single handed they sail to Thurne Mouth then down the Bure towards Acle - turn and then go up the Thurne to close to Womack Dyke https://www.sfsc.co.uk/pages/tri-icicle/
  5. Brave souls, glad I didn't enter - I did consider it on a sunny day in September. 53 boats were said to have entered. Not sure how many started?
  6. That bottom photo shows two relaxed dogs - ok as book ends but the fact they are happy being so close says things look positive

    Favourite Time

It's a hard one as it's in the past. Sitting on WR or with friends on rafted boats nearby at Barton. Enjoying a drink, a shared meal and the relative peace and quiet of a Broadland evening. Or moored at Thurne watching a Barn Owl hunt over the marshes. Or a murmuration of Starlings at How Hill or hearing the bittern booming in the early hours whilst on 3RRs guard ship or... I have the photos...
  9. Those Cornish lanes with high sides are bad enough in a car let alone a camper van but I suppose you are higher up and can see a bit better?
  10. The coffee shop is very well recommended but you have to go through the shop so you end up spending more money☹️😀
  11. Half term weeks start this weekend. Herts next week, Cardiff area week after.. very wet today me thinks?
  12. Do what the Nogs might do catch a train somewhere?
  13. It's got a sandy beach, low lying landscape and a tall church in the background which isn't Martham. Anything up Waxham way?
  14. Tall church in the background that should help?
  15. If you get the tide right you'll struggle to keep to the speed limit. North to South is easier tide wise than the return

    My Day

Our doctors does mass jab sessions (flu and now Covid) in a local hall! Call up came whilst we were on holiday but my husband was able to go last Saturday for the flu jab. When there they said they had some spare Covid jabs so he had both! I couldn't make it but they told my husband that I should ring up at the end of this week! This I did this morning - 14:10 next Wednesday ok for both jabs? Yes fine I said. That's booked then you will get a text confirmation. But you haven't asked my name I said! Oh that's ok, your phone flagged it up!!! Text duly followed
  17. What about a roof box rather than trailer?
  18. Did the chip give any info? I thought I read he was chipped? The papers/media are discussing the number of abandoned pets the charities are receiving
  19. I reckon you caught up with the Lady Yacht Club Weekend in your second photo?

    Bird Flu

A few weeks ago one of our elderly neighbours went out for a walk through our local fields and whilst walking back through the wood was jumped on by a very enthusiastic young but large off lead dog! Our neighbour is very slightly built and our skin is wafer thin - the result she arrived on our doorstep in shock with the skin on her arm ripped and covered in blood. We tried ringing 111 but gave up after 15 minutes and realising after cleaning up the wounds that despite looking dreadful it was superficial and the bleeding had stopped! So we wrapped her arm in a sterile dressing, gave her a cup of tea and took her home. Checking on her next day and alerting her actual neighbour to also keep an eye on her. She was in such shock initially that it wasn't that clear how the owners of the dog reacted but they were apparently very apologetic - one would have liked to think they would have walked her home but knowing our neighbour who is fiercely independent - I think she just basically wanted to get away from the dog as quickly as possible. Never assume however friendly your dog is - that it could still do some actual harm.
  21. Finally managed to attach the photo of WR crossing Breydon taken by a friend of mine!
  22. WR wouldn't be WR without a few drips and leaks. The worst was before she had a new stem - gribble worms holes! The auto pump was on almost continuously ☹️
  23. Of the 12 not one was 24 feet as stated in the Blake's catalogue. Most were 27feet plus a bit but at least one was only 26 feet plus and one over 28feet. I have all the info at home having looked at the log books at the Norfolk archive above 10 years? I was told the 24 feet listing was to do with being a toll range??
