  1. Beccles Church Tower is also well worth going up as well, as is Horsey Mill. I agree it is that last bit at Ranworth which is seriously hard and then opening up the hatch - went up there a few years ago in a really strong wind - scary! Can you go up Happisburgh Lighthouse ?

  3. My work has two WhatsApp groups, one for us team of receptionists (so we can have a natter and check everyone is okay) and one that has all the staff added so that although it does include trivia, the two business partners are able to update us on what is happening and what will happen as best they know. I was able to have a WhatsApp video call with the two partners on Tuesday - to discuss everything and in turn they are trying have a chat with all the staff. All bar one member of staff will be furloughed but they can't top up the difference. They have said that if we had had a holiday booked during the time off period, that we don't try to reclaim it after we get back working. I haven't saved anything on travel as I walk! We have two cars, which will be alternate taking to the shops each week - this is to ensure neither end up with flat batteries or anything else from not being used. Saving on a lot of fuel costs! We have had at least 2 members of staff with the correct symptoms. I spoke on the phone to both and whereas some of those self isolating at work may well have had just a cold - these 2 without doubt must of had it but.................without being tested one can't say for absolute certain! Take care everyone
  4. If anyone is still working you need to avoid touching surfaces that the owner might then touch later or have sanitizing wipes to wipe down on leaving or ask them to lightly bleach later. My husband reminded me to wash all loose fruit and vegetables before eating if not being cooked. Its little things like that you forget. Don't let them make you a cup of tea ............. Probably my last day at work .................The 80% thing means still work all the time or nothing not just the occasional day to keep the place running on a skeleton staff
  5. One boat quite happy in a shed, toll not as yet paid. May still pay the rowing dinghy as that currently could be classed as exercise? Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  6. Wondered whether this news item relates to Vagabond or the remains of Vagabond moving on? https://www.edp24.co.uk/motoring/planned-closure-of-haven-bridge-march-30-1-6576519 Under the current restrictions it might not even happen now?
  7. My daughter has a massive £ season ticket to London which she isn't using. She transferred it to the cheapest ticket available to 2 stations in the west Midlands and got a refund. Previously it was 2 stations on the Isle of Wight. I believe Brundall gardens to Brundall would qualify. As of today she should be able to get a full refund for even this.... 8. I should have said older not younger!!!!
  9. This is George one of our junior cats. His vaccination card lists him as short haired Not a care in the world!
  10. Good to hear from you Barry - hope you are keeping well!
  11. When I looked at the log books in the Norfolk Archive it was quite interesting how Herbert Woods worked. They seemed to register the cruisers in two batches in the 1930s. The first batch were all Bxx and the second batch were Bxxx. Water Rail was Delight VII and also B77. The anomaly was Delight XI which is B63. As a result for years everyone thought she was a younger boat but my suspicion is that they had a spare number. Also Delight II which became Jacqueline at Martham was renumbered when they restructured her. Liz
  12. When I set off on my daily walk, the footpaths were positively heaving with people but as I got further away from civilisation the footfall was less. Very windy so the larks weren't singing so well. My two days at work were different and quite stressful. Being an opticians the plan currently is to try and stay open as best possible and deflect emergency eye problems away from the doctors and hospitals............... (did you know that Conjunctivitis can be a symptom of flu so please phone for advice don't present yourself at any health agency with the condition) Over the last few weeks I have had a few run in with people not respecting our insistence that everyone applies sanitizer immediately they come in. We have a sign that says please avoid touching the counter - one person pushed it aside! I couldn't work out why my Fitbit that rarely reaches 10,000 passes before I get home (after walking to and from work) was much higher than usual. Then I realised something I was doing every 5 minutes or so - applying hand sanitizer and the regular wiping down of all surfaces with Azowipes! The motion activates the fitbit Stay safe everyone
  13. Our neighbourhood watch sent a batch of emails around this morning relating to Covid 19 scams - yep the tricksters aren't missing a trick. This was the contents of one of the emails: We have recently received reports of opportunists taking advantage of the current Coronavirus pandemic, by posting flyers through doors requesting food donations for the YMCA foodbanks, unfortunately it’s sad to report that this is a scam. The YMCA have not been involved in this initiative. Be aware that opportunists and criminals can take advantage of the elderly and vulnerable who are self-isolating. Anyone being offered "kindness" by cold callers by way of running errands, collecting prescriptions and doing shopping should not accept services from strangers who may ask for cash up front, a credit card and its PIN, or gain trust simply to execute a more elaborate scam. e.g. to access savings. Most people offering to help elderly people in their neighbourhood are genuinely kind, honest and caring. The elderly self-isolating will be stuck for food, supplies and someone to talk to if they don't have friends, family or a nearby neighbour that they already know. If everyone makes contact now with their nearest elderly neighbours WHO THEY ALREADY KNOW and gives them their phone number and offer of help for when they need it, it will reduce the chances of them accepting help from a stranger who may turn out to be an opportunist, confidence trickster and thief Take care
  14. I fall in that category as well! No one has asked us yet but there aren't many younger neighbours! We have lived in the house 30 years - there are 14 homes in the road and we are still only 6th longest residents! We moved from 7th place two years ago. NBYC (Wroxham) cancelled everything up to the end of April for the time being. I shall be at work tomorrow dealing face to face with the general public for my two days! In the meantime I am making use of our local footpath network with a daily 1 1/2 to 2 hours walk - I am very lucky that our house is on the edge of the town and the countryside is there. This morning despite very overcast - the Sky Larks were singing in profusion - it was really uplifting at this time of extreme crisis. Liz
  15. The EDP has a report online. There are a few more photos but none of the bridges being opened. Hopefully someone did capture that as it might be the last time both Carrow Bridge and Trowse Swing Bridge get opened! https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/norwich-s-floating-restaurant-vagabond-has-been-towed-out-of-the-city-centre-1-6565501
  16. I've had a couple now where they have said they have seen my details online and could I give a quote for building work! The first one I sent a reply to saying I think they had the wrong person but after the second (some weeks apart) I ignored it and just put it in my spam folder Just a bit odd! Liz
  17. I've just started following the Thames Traditional Boat Festival on FB. This picture was just posted! Liz Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  18. I agree with everyone - very sad news and my thoughts go to family and friends. Liz
  19. Is the house at How Hill missing? Or had it been answered? Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  20. The words on the post are HO - so could be something to do with HOW Hill - perhaps the other side. Don't think Horning and the last mooring at Horning has a bit of an inlet afterwards to catch out the unwary sailor!
  21. It doesn't look like a BA mooring as the post appears to be painted white. The back ground vegetation is relatively low so either recently cut back or not that well established. The river looks relatively narrow and possibly not a huge tidal flow. So here's my contribution - probably towards the heads of either the Bure or Ant. Don't think the Thurne though. The only place I can think of is the opposite bank at Belaugh but I don't think they have any posts? Liz
  22. And according to the Times newspaper felt unwell on Friday but continued to see 50 people the next day!
  23. At Horning there is a tidal flow, okay not like the south rivers. Its narrow, heavily congested with hire boats, private boats and day boats plus the sailing boats. Gus would regularly jump onto boats that were struggling to bring them in. It was very reassuring knowing that there was someone there overseeing the boats actions, inwards and outwards especially when towing a boat which would restrict ones own movements and decisions.
  24. We recently had an infestation of a type of Meal moth in our pasta packets (probably originating from some wholemeal flour) - so about 10 days ago all our pastas bar one packet had to be thrown out! We actually need to replace them!!!
