  1. How about huge charges put on empty houses to make them too expensive to have sat unoccupied? Fill that little lot and, just maybe, we could keep a field or two or worse still keep a boatyard or two! Have a sail round Oulton Broad and then ask yourself "what have we allowed to happen?"
  2. Not sure this is relevant but various kit and equipment was only just being unloaded and taken to Somerleyton bridge yesterday (along the north river bank from the marina) so they may have not done the job yet! According to one of the drivers it's for bearing maintenance. They were unloading what he described as cradles to lift the bridge onto.
  3. I think that tow boat ended up with Peter Cooper at Broadway Cruisers where it continued to do sterling service.JM may well remember it also
  4. Actual. Highlight 5 (JA was Highlight 6) Jacqueline is having to take an enforced back seat at the minute Liz
  5. JA is not the one we are keeping ashore... well I hope not! Her sistership is coming this year as well I hope so she needs to be!
  6. Hate mail arrived here too... Total bill here not funny however for 2017 we will be taxing/tolling 2 dinghys (saving £16 on the two) 1 cruiser (up £44.00) 1 yacht (up £31.00) but... we are not launching 1 cruiser in 2017 in protest (toll value £346) so BA will be gaining £75 and losing £378! I shall, of course, pay by cheque with a covering letter stating that we are not launching as a protest for the year. If I get anything useful in response I will let you know.
  7. I've just ordered that. Had no idea it had been remade. I'm going to pop it on the shelf in the space allocated for JM's memoirs!
  8. Certainly not, oh ye of little faith..... ...... the bed is wonky and I thought it would support the loose foot
  9. Me too. It could sit next to Jenny Morgan's memoirs in my aft cabin.
  10. look out peeps, we have an expert amongst us
  11. Saturday afternoons used to be Giant Haystacks v Big Daddy followed by Rally Cross when I was little...
  12. Lots of verniers, calipers, dial gauges, micrometers etc. Someone used to be an engineer or maybe manufactured items on a lathe? The little tool with the five fingers each end in the bottom right of the first picture is for measuring a threads pitch. The pump thing in the bottom picture is lost on me though I suspect one or two on here will have a very good idea! lol
  13. Try that tomorrow and you'd stand a good chance at the water speed record
  14. Oh, by the way, neither fibreglass (polyester resin) west system (epoxy resin) nor soudaflex (polyurethane) will stick to damp wood etc so get the fan heater out and make sure everything is nice and dry, especially this time of year!
  15. Soudaflex is the Martham favourite Peter. There are many versions of it now but as long as the tube says PU 40 or FC 40 polyurethane single pack it's the same stuff. Soudaflex can be bought on eBay for under a fiver a tube.
  16. There's one thinking "I hope the barn roof stays on coz the cabin roof is still not fitted yet"
  17. Would any such lease with a 'man in his 80's ' not become void if he doesn't reach his 90's? Or maybe the lease could say that?
  18. wood is new and was too wide to go through the planer so arrived sawn finish. I reckon you'd have worn your old piece of broken glass away enhancing that For a minute you had me going ref drum. As soon as I saw your comment I thought the worst.... nice one!
  19. You dont know what a tender behind is until you have had someone run a belt sander across it! As for dinghys, love em! Never afloat without one, sometimes two, or one and a canoe. Always got a lug sail but never an outboard - he needs the exercise!
  20. In my world a decent edge on a chisel is considered an opulent upgrade!
  21. Now let me think.... hard sell at Brundall or relaxing amongst forumites at Salhouse... Northern rivers it is then
  22. All is well and all will be fine - I will stake my fenders on it! What is happening is that we are looking at the structure of the forum's management with a view to splitting up some of the work Jonzo did/does single handed so that we can have a number of people doing a bit rather than one person doing a lot. It is important that we get this right now so that the roles are clearly defined for those coming onboard in the future. We are looking at the forum management, fund raising, events and event management, the techy stuff and all the other aspects that make this happen. Jonzo set a timescale of May which has allowed us the time to fully understand whats involved and this is why there is 'no news' yet. The forum is in excellent health and a force to be reckoned with. We are making sure it stays so well into the future.
  23. Well said Timbo! I cant see this forum closing down even if we wanted to close it! That passion that the Broads brings out in us all is so evident on here I think the forum has never been stronger than right now.
  24. I'll try that again.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mikalor-W2-Superclamps-Exhaust-Clamp-Clips-Stainless-Steel-T-Bolt-Turbo-Jubilee-/191724880739?var=490747799339&hash=item2ca3b18363:m:muP3n2PbBGuNkue-kPUVrRg
  25. I think 'jubillee clip' was more to identify the part than suggesting using them. With a straight swap over the right clamps should already be there on the existing silencer. These are what should be there/used
