  1. Nothing it appears escaped this cost of living crisis . It really is beyond a joke . The NBN spring meet should cruise en masse, in solidarity and have a wee sit in protest πŸ˜‚. Get some banners made 😎, sing some songs 😊, get a few slogans out there πŸ˜‰. You might even get on the TV. πŸ˜‡ Get the message out there , extortionate fuel and food prices we will accept, but mooring fees are a different ball game πŸ˜†.
  2. As someone who attended road accidents for over 20 years as part of my job , I have never understood why production cars can sometimes have ridiculous acceleration. I can understand why people want them for the thrill , but with the big boy pants on , how quickly do we really need to get to 70mph? Most bad accidents I attended were on B class roads , and it was almost exclusively down to the speed of a certain vehicle . The devastation it causes is far reaching , and when you see it time and time again , it does get somewhat depressing. House fire fatalities at one time were sadly a lot more common than they are now . This is because the authorities acted on it , and made it law , to have fire detection systems amongst other things. I’m just surprised that the power and speed of cars is ignored , even encouraged.
  3. Excuse my ignorance, but how does one get such a large vessel into a dry dock? Do you sail it in, then drain it ? A bit like the lock system in a canal?
  4. I really don't want to make light of a very sad and serious situation, but on a lighter note , this is a quote.from someone interviewed at the scene . Only in Scotland would you get this quote πŸ˜‚........ "It's very scary - it just makes you evaluate everything," he said. "No one goes to work to be involved in any kind of accident. "We all want to go home for our mince and tatties to our wife and kids so I feel for anyone who is injured, and their family."
  5. My apologies , can" boat" be edited to" ship ", and "their"to " there " cheers Done πŸ‘
  6. This ship , which was in dry dock, has come a cropper . Very windy in the Edinburgh area today , which I assume is reason it has toppled . Don't know much more about it , other than their are sadly some casualties . Here's hoping they are not to severe ,but that is a dangerous load to move .
  7. I forgot to add , your boiler is probably very much repairable. Sounds like a faulty fan to me , or blocked air vent. Assuming you are getting has to the intake, it sounds like it's starved of oxygen .
  8. In short, get a replacement gas boiler. Gas supplies to houses are going nowhere mate , trust me. Air source heat pumps rely on your house being pretty much sealed and insulated to the max. You would also need all radiators to be at least double in size, with a 6kw immersion heater as back up. As for your electric supply , a 60 amp fuse , will easy see a current of 80/100 amps over a small period of time . Your shower is only pulling its max power for a fraction of the day, then it is dormant. Likewise , a cooker is almost never asked to work at full capacity, and even if it is its only for a short time. Even the electrical regulations almost allow you to dismiss it , under " diversity" The biggest stress a domestic installation ever came under , was I if it had storage heating , and come 8pm , 8x 3kw storage heaters all started to ask to be fed.Even then, 60 amp fuse were not blowing . Yes, your other option is using direct electric heating , in demand when you want it . But houses these days are expected to have central heating as bare minimum . Treat yourself to a new boiler , service existing installation , Chuck insulation in where ever you can reach and enjoy the most basic of luxuries of having a warm home . It's the least you deserve.
  9. I feel your pain . Both physically and financially. It is truly tragic to see our once gold standard , envy of the world , NHS slip from our grasp. Hopefully your on the mend , on a plus note, the best pain killer for toothache is whisky . So, have a wee dram and relax 😜
  10. I wonder how many journeys the pilot does on average per day, between June and the end of Sept?
  11. I have mud weighted at Salhouse many a many time and can t say I've ever encountered anything but the black goopy stuff . Some sand near the moorings for sure , but all other corners hold the boat no problem in my experience . Not saying your wrong , just my experiences.
  12. How very sad . I never met him , but he did give me some friendly advice on a couple of occasions. Seemed a very decent person and certainly was much respected on here . Sleep well good Sir.
  13. I wasn’t attempting to be political in the slightest. Apologies if that’s how it came over. If we are not allow to comment on how our country has apparently regressed then I suppose I best not post other than talking about boats. I wasn’t criticising the current regime , it’s been a UK problem for many a generation. It was simply an observation .
  14. Whoever closed them , it was a major error, that was my point.
  15. The town I live in , which is in central Scotland , once upon a time had a train station. Likewise , so did many others around here. Some β€œ wise guy β€œ called Beeching , decided to remove all that massive infrastructure, and now , travelling to anywhere is either a slow , unreliable bus , or it’s a jump in the gas guzzler option. The latter wins it for most folk. We really need to learn to question all politicians wonderful ideas . By and large they don’t live in the same world as us . The electric car project being a perfect example . Its actually embarrassing when you travel in mainland Europe , and you see how much better their public transport is. I was in Singapore last year , their tube trains and buses are , immaculate, supremely reliable, cheap ( the only thing cheap in Singapore😒) , plentiful and a pleasure to use . At what point did the once mighty , pioneers of industry and the bench mark for progression , did the UK take its eye off the ball ?
  16. Which reminds me , How do you confuse an idiot ? 42. Old ones are always the best πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—
  17. The electrical grid is already maxed out . England uses more electricity than it produces and already imports. It . It's almost comical how nobody in power even tries to explain where all these extra billion kilowatts are coming from . You would basically need a charging point at every single parking place. The infrastructure quite simply is nowhere near ready , not even close. Why it isn't hydrogen that is the aim , is beyond me. I'm sure someone more informed than me on here could explain that one to me. Surely we should have learned by now , that politicians don't always make the best decisions , and the experts should be listened to. The ICE is going nowhere, in my ( probably misguided πŸ˜…) opinion.
  18. You've never been to Essex then ? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  19. I was thinking of taking on a random hire for a week . But I bought a few tomatoes instead πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ά
  20. I usually just check its floating , then can t wait to get on my way 😁. I usually take my big mug for my my morning coffee hit, and these days , one of the plugs which has multi usb chargers are handy. A squishy for the Windows is good. And plenty beer vouchers πŸ˜‹
  21. Lovely pics. It's around 450 miles from my house to where these photos have been taken. The difference in weather today and yesterday between here and there, it could just as easy be different continents. 😫😫 Bitterly cold and windy πŸ˜₯
  22. They very nearly done enough. Just seemed to lack that bit belief towards the end that they could see it through . Their little winger was very impressive .
  23. Surprised there isn't a thread on that fantastic game yesterday 😎. That's 3 times in a row the Jocks have beaten the mighty England , I do believe we get to keep them now πŸ˜†πŸ˜†. Joking aside , it was a fantastic advert for international rugby . Played in great spirit with passion and commitment in abundance. Football players could and should learn so much from their rugby counter parts. No cheating , no play acting, no disrespect shown to each other or the ref. I enjoyed a wee dram last night πŸ€—.
  24. Soaring prices , and the lack of disposable income in folks pockets , is having a knock on effect in the pub industries. Lets blame the punters πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ The powers who have attributed to this way of thinking , have , regrettably, done a fantastic job.
  25. A visit to the broads is not complete until a few.hours have been spent watching the mayhem unfold at the bridge. It very rarely disappoints πŸ˜‚. Not so entertaining when you are the one in the middle of the queue waiting to go through while the wind blows πŸ˜†.Heading North , prior to the bridge, the bend , the lack of vision, the lack of space. All good fun πŸ˜‹
