  1. Up here in Bonnie (cold) Scotland , we do have a chuckle , when the national news ( basically London local πŸ˜„) have headline news when down South get a dusting of snow , while up here , a foot of the stuff isn't worth a mention πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. On the same kind of subject , I notice that Andy Murray is Scottish again today, for the last week he has been British πŸ˜‹πŸ€—
  2. I'm not entirely sure if some folk are being serious on the potential that the bridge might get raised/removed πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. That bridge is going no where, ( except potentially closer to the river bed 😁) unless it receives some major trauma .
  3. The shed at wroxham was a great wee pub.
  4. Don’t over think this . The tide is driven from Yarmouth , it pulls and pushes up and down the broads from there . Ideally, you want to tackle Breydon Waters , around the estimated slack water time . Normally this is after low water , which should then push you up the broads , when the water is coming back in . I really don’t want to sound rude , but it’s kinda common sense . Don’t underestimate it , but don’t over think it . if you can cross the road , using your dynamic risk assessment, you can sail the broads 😜
  5. If our leaders told me it was raining, I would look out the window to check.
  6. You really don’t watch it much 🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣
  7. It's such a sad and tragic story. Sadly not unique. I've often thought , that the punishment for drink driving should be an automatic prison sentence, rather than the lottery that if you don't actually have an incident then a slap on the wrist and lose your licence for a wee while is all you will get. It's the potential of your crime by which you should be judged. If the authorities were really serious about eradicating driving , they would go down my route of suggestion. Nobody is suggesting this person intended to kill anyone, their crime was driving while intoxicated. Such a sad waste of a life πŸ˜“, through an act of selfishness.
  8. Was the mooring fee deductible from the bar/food bill? If not, on pure principal I would have carried on to St Bennett’s/ S Walsham . It’s not exactly the most picturesque spot ( though still lovely). If memory serves me correctly, the mooring posts and pathway are not exactly maintained to a high standard. A 20% hike in fees , just because they feel like it apparently, is a poor show. Anytime I have eaten in the pub, it has been 1st class, but I tend to eat early and moor up somewhere quieter for the night.
  9. I didnt, and I wont. My final point in the light hearted matter, but if they were in the broads, peeps quite rightly , would not be happy. That's all I was alluding to. It was not political, I thought most people on here liked keeping our rivers safe and clean. I apologise if I have been deemed to stray from the rules.
  10. Even football fans are less poisonous than our little gifts from Westminster.😱
  11. Nukes my friend , are the lovely harmless 😦, nuclear weapons Scotland have been given to look after. 30 miles from our most populated city. 😱😰😭
  12. Get your boat up to the river Clyde , in Bonnie Scotland. It never freezes over. Apparently, it is because of all the lovely nukes , harmless.as they are so we are told. Regardless, it's always flowing, a lovely greenish blue colour . πŸ€—
  13. Packing away my fishing stuff at the end of the holiday is always very symbolic. Watching someone who is out of reach or earshot , struggling with the handling of there boat. You can feel their pain, and sense the tension on board, frustratingly knowing you could probably help them with a little advice.
  14. My favourite time is actually that first cruise out the boatyard. Boat packed, fridge stocked, crew aboard, all the time in the world ahead of you, glass in hand. It just " the berries" as they say up here.
  15. Hello Gracie, As one queen leaves us, another one returns πŸ˜‰πŸ€—πŸ˜‰
  16. The person in said boat, may be happy. I hope that isn't what is ripping others peoples knitting πŸ˜„πŸ˜„ The heron looks happy too πŸ€—
  17. Glad to hear the boat is back home😊. I have hired this actual boat a couple of times , so, of course feel as if I have some attachment to it . I know very little about the upkeep of such boats, but I would imagine HW easily have the skill and tools to put her back in action. I also , maybe wrongly, assumed they would take her home by road? It does make you realise, that no matter how experienced ( or not) you are at boating, things can go wrong very quickly. A wee bit of bad luck , and it can all go pete tongπŸ˜₯. No different than driving our motors I suppose. The main thing is, the crew live to tell the tale, anything lost , can be replaced. Oh, and off topic, but regarding another thread that has been on lately, I think this is still a very friendly forum, with the vast majority of posters being respectful, helpful and well informed. Hats off to them who run it for us , I say. Long may it continue πŸ’š
  18. Fishing with a 12 bore is cheating surely?😁😁😁😁 That's a bad experience to be fair. Take care my friend.
  19. GeeπŸ˜‹, I didn't mean to start a fisherman v boater fight 😁😁. I just wondered if my bro had read the signs wrong. He said there was signs on all the 24 your moorings and the yacht station stating no fishing. I probably would have fished, and if asked to stop, and given a good reason I would have ceased fishing . There is nothing on Google in relation to no fishing on this part of the river. I just thought someone on here would have cruised by that way and maybe seen the signs themselves recently. I think to claim that all fishermen are grumpy aggressors is a bit wide off the mark.
  20. Apologies if this has been covered and I've missed it. My sister and bro in law are on a short break cruising the South rivers. My bro is a very.keen fisherman , but tells me.today there are no fishing signs from Burgh St Peter up to and including the yacht station at Beccles. Can someone shed some light if this is in fact the case and why? , or have they been hitting the vino hard πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Seems very strange . Thanks Neil
  21. Brave post, wishing you all the best. Hopefully they caught the problem nice and early. On the stopping smoking theme, I really don't we the problem,. I've stopped loads of times 😐, and probably will again on SundayπŸ€”
  22. The fossil fuel combustion engine, is not going anywhere fast πŸ˜‚
  23. Just read this , that's quite sad the tea shop closing. It has been a tradition for many a year , that my wife and daughter would go for tea and scones and me and the young lad would go to the pub for beers ( juice for him back in the day but beers now πŸ˜„) and a few games of pool while in Loddon. The ladies raved about the p!ace.
  24. Does the boat have to be taxed to be on the river, or is it exempt because it is on a private mooring? I assume the the latter. And to get your boat taxed, do you need your safety certificate?
