  1. Some good modifications especially like the elbow room needed that doing years ago . How many boats did you buy ?
  2. Spent many a winter in my youth sanding and varnishing the old wooden day boats and rowing boats on windermere and filling the numerous dents and scratches on the boats you got from Windermere Mark
  3. We were on Ruby Emblem from Ferry marina last July and managed to sneak up to Dilham it is a really beautiful cruise up to there the river was crystal clear and the kids loved watching all the fish swimming as they peered over the sides. We were lucky and no other boats at the mooring / turning area somanaged to turn Ruby a 38ft aquafibre round no problems but can imagine would of struggled if anything was moored .
  4. Great entertaining video looking forward to your next one
  5. Have previously passed on my condolences. very touching start to the blog looking forward to the rest. I did something very similar when my own father passed away and spend some time on our boat at the time cruising on the west coast of Scotland to gather my thoughts and reflect on memories .

  10. Only just read this holiday tale . What a superb describtive style of writing felt like I was there as well !! Really hope you go back on the broads this year and let us all enjoy it with you in another holiday tale.
  11. For me my favourites are : Black horse broad - mudweighting River Ant wild mooring Malthouse Broad - mudweighting Coltishall Dilham Don't like stern on mooring in a line of other boats at night as prefer peace and solitude overnight plus no one can moan about my snoring
  12. Hi Christie, welcome we have 2 children boy and girl 11 and 10yrs old. we have a 6hr drive down to Norfolk so we travel down day before get boat and stop in Gt Yarmouth and spend the late afternoon/ evening wandering around the town doing the arcades etc with the kids just so they unwind after a long car trip. Next morning before going for boat we have a leisurely breakfast and a asda shop for all provisions needed for the week . Once on boat kids love to drive (supervised) and love going to salhouse broad to play on the shore , Womack island is a favourite of theirs as they can just explore the island and mess around. Coltishall is good as large grass area right by the moorings for kids to run around as well. Generally we find a couple hours cruise max followed by a bit of shore time and kids love it as all one big adventure. we also hire either a rowing or sailing dinghy and I teach kids to row or sail of an evening . As has been previously said if it your first time stick to the northern rivers and don't bother going to Yarmouth and across Breydon water save that for next time once have more experience as the tides on the southern need a bit of planning. enjoy your hols
  13. Hi Speedtriple I never hired on Windermere as we had our own boats sailed and raced the windermere class yachts, flying fifteens and various dinghy classes. I worked for holiday afloats hiring out the self drive motor boats during school holidays but as you say the boats weren't of a good standard .
  14. Deepest sympathies Robin on your loss
