Of the two I frequent namely the Swan and the New Inn , The Swan I find much more welcoming , and the beer is better kept and 45p a pint cheaper !!!

Well this years incessant rain returned last night and isn’t letting up , we cast off at 09:00 and poodled along to see if Horning staithe was free , it was so we are now moored up Swan end of the moorings plugged in and relaxing , yes it’s wet and miserable but do you know what ? We don’t care the scenery and wildlife are stunning and we’re afloat , and I bet the Swan will be warm and welcoming later

Left the wetshed this morning at 10:00 a few hirers returning their Richo’s boats , good to see the yard full of life once again . On our journey downstream on the Ant we passed a very happy looking crew aboard their new and very smart looking “Mermaid” , congratulations once more to the three of you , moored up at Ludham so we could drop the screens etc as the marker was showing 7ft3” so it would have been touch and go without lowering them , Horning staithe was full so about turn and we settled on Ranworth where we are now safely moored for the evening , sadly the taxi rank is occupied . The leccy is still off and the damaged moorings on the front have still not been repaired .

Leaving shortly for a week afloat , hopefully be joined by our granddaughter at some time next weekend , hope to see a few of you afloat on our travels . Catfield Crown tonight then leaving the wet shed early in the morning

Congratulations to you both , hope to see you afloat soon

If you can pass under Potter Heigham bridge there will be a few I should think as many cruisers have had to come the other side in recent months/seasons due to passage

The London. Pride was excellent last weekend in the Swan

It’s a shame someone such as Fairline can’t be persuaded to buy it , much more sensible than their Oundle base which means boats have to be transported by road

That’s the way we normally go into Boulters too , but when the wind is up it’s definitely a challenge

Marker showing 7ft6” half an hour before low tide , actual clearance was about 7ft10”

Lovely convivial evening in The Crown in the company of Gary , Charlotte and Oscar . Left the wet shed at 09:00 gentle cruise down the Ant , saw a couple of hire boats (Herbert Woods) and one privateer . Popped into Boulters , very windy so made a complete c**k up of that , pump out and diesel top up and now moored up on Horning staithe

Thank you , was going to head initially for Horning , Maltsters still closed 😢, if Horning staithe full then probably Womack

Leaving for Norfolk shortly for a weekend afloat , hope to see a few fellow forumites on our travels , we will undoubtedly spend this evening in the Crown Catfield though . with any luck Ludham bridge will be more passable this weekend

Sounds as if “the computer says no” attitude has become their practice now , they used to say that if we cancelled then we would have to pay the balance of the full deposit but if the boat was rented for the week we cancelled then we would get back all but the £50 early booking discounted deposit.

That’s most welcome , any idea of the pricing at all ?

I too hate a plate to be piled high , hence I do not enjoy a carvery , I would far rather put a smaller amount on my plate and go back if I wanted more, sadly carveries do not permit this .
