  1. Welcome to the NBN , Muriel, unfortunately I’m unable to assist but there is a wealth of knowledge amongst our members and I’m sure someone who knows will respond soon .
  2. It is normally the 3rd weekend of the month of May so I would presume the weekend of 18th/19th of May , would be happy if this could be confirmed or corrected if I’m wrong .
  3. At Ludham light show there were c500 people in attendance , eating burgers served in paper serviettes drinking beer etc in plastic glasses and in the morning the total detritus left behind didn’t fill a couple of black bin liners, that’s not what I would class as the majority of the public being litter bugs . Yes there are some inconsiderate individuals that leave their rubbish behind , but the reason it sticks in our mind so much is that it is the minority that do so and not the norm .
  4. We spent our last evening afloat at Gays staithe and ordered an Ali Spice delivery , up early this morning to the wet shed as I was working today , video of light show as promised below IMG_3385.mov
  5. Will load a video and further photos when am on wifi
  6. We arrived just after 17:00 yesterday at The Big Shop mooring Womack , there were already a hundred plus spectators gathering for illuminated boats , catering , outside bar , and entertainment all in place , boats of all shapes and sizes along the staithe making last minute checks to their lighting waiting for the off. By 19:00 when the flotilla departed the green and footpath on the staithe was packed with hundreds of excited spectators , the bar and barbecue were certainly trading well , the live band in full song , one by one the boats pealed away from the staithe , rounded thé Albion which was moored in the center of the broad and made their way out along the dyke. At spot on 20:30 the Albions lights dimmed and the first on the procession returned looking incredible all lit up in the pitch darkness , closely followed by the rest of the illuminated boats each boats arrival was met by loud applause from the hundreds of spectators , it was a remarkable sight and a truly memorable evening .
  7. Levels this week are certainly higher than normal , was unable to pass Wroxham at all this week .
  8. Left Upton at 09:00 for a short hop up to Acle moorings whilst we wait until 16:00 before we set off for Womack Big Shop moorings to watch the light show this evening , tasty breakfast in Dunes cafe , 2x full English with coffee £25 , will most likely have to sample a crab sandwich for lunch as well .
  9. This past week I have met many first time boaters and without exception they have loved their time afloat and want to return , the days of customers coming back year on year may have changed but the magic is still there for many , Kate and myself included. A holiday afloat is still a wonderful experience , yes tastes and expectations have changed , the populous want to visit far flung destinations , want wifi connection all of the time and expect more than standard pub grub to be proffered BUT there are those who still love the tranquility and beauty of the Broads and will continue to do so , all is not doom and gloom
  10. Left Womack at just after 11:00 and motored to Ranworth to collect a bracelet that I had lost there and it had been handed in to the BA office , had to moor alongside another vessel as the staithe was full , collected the bracelet and off we went , just moored up at a tranquil Upton dyke for the evening .
  11. Had a wonderful meal this evening at The Kings Arms , they could certainly teach a thing or two to many Broadland pubs as far as service and value for money is concerned , excellent food , ales and company , Bramble loved her chicken and rice doggy dinner (£3!!!) .
  12. So sorry to hear of your mishap , so easily done (as I know to my own misfortune ), wishing you a speedy recovery from all on the NBN and may you be afloat again soon .
  13. Left Ranworth at 09:30 , weather warm will a brisk breeze , slowly motored to our intended destination , Womack Water , manage to squeeze into the only spot on the staithe , coffee on chairs out and now settled for the day 11:00
  14. Love it !!!!! I can just imagine the faces of some hirers (and privateers) when due retribution is given out , does that also include the hoisting of a sharp boat hook when approaching a parked car at Tescos
  15. We left Salhouse at 10:00 and motored into Wroxham to check clearance at the bridge , showing at about 6ft7” so we would just (fag paper clearance) be able to pass under but with the impending rain we felt best not to, so about turn and off we went , clouds were gathering overhead and as we passed the Swan we spotted Luna Aurora in prime spot on Horning green moorings and seeing the far end spot on the concrete section was free we decided to moor up . Have a pleasant chat to the crew of Luna Aurora and decided to stay put for the day/evening just before the heavens opened and a rain storm began . A very wet day ensued , we dined in The Swan and very good it was too , Kate says the lasagne was the best she has had on the Broads for a long while and she is certainly a connoisseur of a good lasagne !! Left the moorings at 09:15 this morning and are now tucked up at Ranworth enjoying an Abbott or two , bit overcast and breezy but still sitting outside enjoying the ambience . As a footnote , Horning had zero internet connection on O2 , whilst it has never been the best reception it is abysmal now
  16. Does life get any better , full stomach after carbonara “al fresco”, Bramble had her game of football , now waiting for the sunset enjoying a malt or two and listening to mellow Louis Armstrong
  17. Legislation and rules are one thing , getting individuals to follow them is an entirely different matter. I regard paddle boards as the bicycles of the rivers and they should be treated as the same , by all means encourage their usage , promote it even but also similar to bicycles not being permitted to use a motorway paddle boards should be restricted in their use in areas which causes danger to the user and also to other river craft.
  18. Left Sutton @ 10:00hrs this morning after a pump out (yes it’s working again) , slow cruise down the Ant destination Salhouse , beautiful sunny warm September day , now moored up for the day/evening in the shade .
  19. Electric is up and working , we’re plugged in .
  20. 8ft3” to 8ft5” depending on engine and ballast
  21. Had a lovely morning in Hemsby , not many people turned up for the open day at the lifeboat sadly , returned to Stalham , cleaned the boat and windows and pootled to Sutton for a pump out , a boat had just vacated the far end of the green so we are now moored up sitting shoreside in the shade listening to the live music at the Stalham Hotel 😊
  22. I used to enjoy the orange bitters you used to be able to get as well , could never understand why you were meant to swill the bitters around the glass and then throw the excess away though
  23. Brambles not too sure about the sea
