  1. Brambles not too sure about the sea
  2. It was The Hit Man and her that set my pulses racing
  3. A generation grew up with Tiswaz on a Saturday morning , and the James Whale show in the early hours
  4. Leaving Cambridge this evening at 22:00hrs for a week afloat , going to drive down to Hemsby for the lifeboat open day tomorrow , then cast off probably Monday morning , looking forward to Ludham light show next Saturday
  5. The rapid rise in consumers purchasing online has,I feel , consigned the high street as was to history . Many of the high street chain stores were far too slow off the mark as far as an online presence is concerned allowing Amazon/eBay and similar to grab the market place .
  6. The quoted airdraft of 8ft 10” certainly has a bit of a safety allowance built in, I have seen Gleaming Light many times above Ludham bridge as well as Brooms Captains which are a similar design . That said , they are a relatively high airdraft boat and would need (I believe) minimum 8ft 6” clearance at Ludham and for the water / fuel tanks to be full , in October it is very rare for Ludham bridge to be anything over 8ft 2” we were often restricted by this on Cerise Lady which had an airdraft of 8ft, so if upstream of Ludham bridge is essential I would consider a lower airdraft .
  7. The bylaw 84 (1995) which I quoted I agree is too general and not specific enough, and who decides what is reasonable or not ? On BA 24 hour moorings the signage states not to run your engine outside the hours of 08:00 and 20:00 , I can’t (currently) find a corresponding bylaw to this, also does not state no running of an onboard (or otherwise) generator outside of these hours and I concur with the earlier post that some of these hybrid boats generators are louder than many other boats engines. Another noise that I have found to be quite irritating is some boats diesel heaters which have insufficient sound suppressing , and these are often left running all night.
  8. There was one for sale on ebay for £155 which is now sold , so presume they are very scarce
  9. Or he may have used a stock photo (non copy-write)
  10. If anyone knows if there is any live music on the Northern rivers next week please let me know
  11. The small units that plug into a power socket directly , which I believe Grendel has tried , seem to be the obvious choice https://www.amazon.co.uk/Russell-Hobbs-RHPH2001-Ceramic-Heater/dp/B07V3FQ69Y/ref=asc_df_B07V3FQ69Y/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=389268948172&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8650631082214405252&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006598&hvtargid=pla-832793258052&psc=1&th=1&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=79631491836&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=389268948172&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8650631082214405252&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006598&hvtargid=pla-832793258052
  12. If you’re in Norfolk over the next few days the majestic wooden ship , Tenacious, is moored up at Yarmouth , I believe she is the largest wooden tall ship built in the U.K. https://www.greatyarmouthmercury.co.uk/news/23766398.sv-tenacious-tall-ship-docked-great-yarmouth/
  13. I would presume Brundle, Riverside estate, same as Shadow boats . I’m sure someone will pop along soon to confirm
  14. It was and is scrumptious and perfect , thank you
  15. Sitting currently on the bench at Gays Staithe , there are only two hire boats moored up . Yes this year for many yards has been a poor year for hiring , but we should not forget that we are still in the recent “post covid” era where the whole world has changed and it will not be a rapid return to business as normal , many yards are still in the mentality of late booking discounts hoping that they will rent the fleet out at a much higher rate before having to offer these discounts , something which air firms tried before deciding to discount instead if you booked in advance a move which has increased their profitability . Loyalty bonuses and early booking discounts in the modern internet world (IMHO) seems to be the obvious business model , but that said I do not have the knowledge or experience of running a Broads hire fleet and only time will tell which way is the best solution to the falling trade levels .
  16. Left Ranworth at 09:45 , thought I would try our luck at Horning “Holy Grail” managed to get the last space on the green just before the Swan , had a lovely day , with tea and scones , the gooseberry jam is wonderful Kate , thank you so much . Evening meal in the Swan and very good it was too , the London Pride sadly a bit lifeless , it was very busy with a least 40 diners . Departed Horning at 06:30 and the rivers were very very misty so nav lights on , we did pass a couple of hire boats on our trip to the Ant mouth with visibility no more than 50ft . Now having a coffee stop at Gays staithe before putting Pipedreams to bed until next Sunday when we are out for the following week .
  17. Apparently a boat motored off whilst still tied up , this in turn pulled the mooring post sharply over and part of the quay heading with it , to repair it they will have to remove the abutting headings too , hence the delay
  18. Moored up in my usual spot on The Taxi Rank , the right hand side of the front staithe still has two spaces ropes off , this is due to broken planking , not sure when will be repaired. Staithe is now full.
  19. Congratulations to “HPC” for what seems to have been an excellent season , your fleet have noticeably been impeccably turned out compared to more established yards and the feedback we have been given from your hirers has often exceeded their expectations. Here’s looking forward to many more successful years as an independent company free from the shackles of the Hoseasons branding
  20. Exceptional pint of Abbot in the Crown Catfield tonight
