  1. As far as ToS are concerned , if you have received poor service etc from a business , provided your grievance has been put to said business and they have been given every opportunity to correct any issues and have failed to do so then in such cases you can certainly inform other members . If they have not been given the chance to correct / rectify poor service then yes ToS most certainly applies .
  2. Queen Katie’s giving me my chores for the day
  3. Water Rail is there waiting for you
  4. Beautiful yet blustery cruise from Somerleyton to Beccles , only passed 5 boats , now moor up on the pontoon.
  5. After a long b*mnumbing trip today it’s an early night for us , destination tomorrow is Beccles
  6. Breydon was reopened to all traffic @ 12:45 but was certainly very windy when we crossed this afternoon at 16:30ish
  7. Left Sutton at 09:30 gentle very slow cruise to Acle bridge for a pub lunch , and very good it was too. Then off at 14:45 destination the Southern Broads , Breydon reopened to all river traffic at 15:00 so even though very blustery we knew we were all ok , stopped off at The Bell St Olaves at 18:00 for a quick pint before heading off to our evenings mooring at Somerleyton
  8. Arrived at lunchtime today for a two week break afloat , left the wet shed soon after arriving so as to refuel and get a pump out at Sutton prior to our intended journey South tomorrow , wind levels dependant, currently moored up on the green at Sutton on a warm dry but very windy afternoon.
  9. My mother will still only withdraw cash in branch , she doesn’t feel comfortable in using an ATM , her bank is closing later this year also and the nearest post office to her is over a mile away from her house with a virtually non existant bus service and no parking near the post office if she did drive there . The large corporate banks have no sympathy at all for elderly customers and the difficulties they have , my mother does not have and does not wish to have either a smart phone or internet what she wants is what she feels comfortable with which is human interaction by her bank with whom she has been a loyal customer for 90+ years .
  10. Hopefully the winds will have died down by Sunday as we are heading south for the week
  11. I feel the current opinion held by some that hirers today care less than those in the past is somewhat misguided . If digital cameras , and video along with the public platforms to display captured media were in existence then we would no doubt be witness to the incidents so gleefully posted online today . I can only speak as I have found and the behaviour of others afloat seems no better or worse to me than it has been over the last 30+ years , every generation produces “idiots” it’s just we now all get to witness bad behaviour almost instantly online , as those who post these videos etc wouldn’t get the viewing figures they wanted if all they posted was the majority of boaters behaving as they do , in a leisurely , respectful manner .
  12. Was speaking to the gentleman involved a few weeks ago , what a wondrous project , one many would dream of achieving but never have the means nor the motivation to actually move past the dreaming stage . I look forward to, as I’m sure so do many others, following this fantastic journey and thank you to yourself and to the prospective custodian for posting about this on here .
  13. The BA and local councils are both guilty of NIMBYism , a council operated marina for those unable to afford either a home or a mooring would help many of these constant cruisers with the benefit of a permanent address which would certainly help those seeking gainful employment ; the current policy of moving them from pillar to post does not work and never will .
  14. As far as the boats that moored in Sutton broad , the boats that I saw there on a regular basis left no visible mess , were moored away as opposed to in the reeds and I for one see no problem at all with them being there , the BA passing the buck to the RSPA is imho underhanded and beyond their remit. Are boats not permitted to mudweight on tidal waters ?
  15. I have noticed many many more no mooring signs in recent months along the rivers , the very popular “wild” mooring heading upstream on the bend before the Ranworth turning amongst the trees is one that comes to mind , this was always a popular spot for anglers and those who prefer solitude now sadly lost it seems . I mentioned this to the Ranger (not the Ranworth attendants) when last at Ranworth and he told me it was due to the detritus that had been left there earlier this year which the landowner had to clear up ; may I make a heartfelt plea to all whom wild moor - please leave the area as you would wish to find it and take your rubbish with you !
  16. Rapide has the stern door and well as opposed to the usual set up on these which are indeed very high
  17. Many years ago we hired Grecian Girl from Summercraft which is the same type of boat as Rapide , as has already been said the internal helm vision is most certainly restricted, but they are very spacious boats and the saloon being forward means you will have a lovely vista when stern moored.
  18. Now gooseberry , that sounds delicious especially if it’s a bit tart . one of my most favourite fruits , love gooseberry fool especially
  19. I’ll make sure to tell them that they’re to get the blackberry liquor out if I spot them
  20. I love Womack dyke , Gays staithe , and obviously “The taxi rank” , do also enjoy Upton dyke . But to be honest , if I’m afloat on The Broads then I’m contented no matter where we come to stop
