  1. Excellent , I’m afloat this weekend 🍺
  2. Good places to mud weight on the Northern rivers are :- South Walsham Broad , Salhouse Broad , Barton Broard ,Womack water , Malthouse Broard
  3. Can second The Black Barn breakfast , best I’ve had in the area , all local produce and plentiful . Excellent farmers market also although incredibly busy
  4. Lockdown caused a change in life for me , whilst Katie , my daughter and son in law worked all hours in the hospital theatres and Covid critical care I worked long hours for little or no returns , some weeks it was costing me £100’s , so for the first time in my life I went to work for someone else as opposed to for myself with Waitrose , best part of three years in and I’m still there , I couldn’t believe the first week I had off work and it was paid!!!!! I’ll stay put till I retire now
  5. Thank you Neil , I’ll meet you as in previous years if that’s ok ?
  6. Last time I was in The New Inn , I got back to the boat at 03:45 , and Katie was awake ……… ooops we too would be very interested if it’s still open or due to reopen
  7. Realise that , it changed its name to Waters Edge prior to its closure , agree the one in the paper is the old Liberty restaurant , would struggle to call it a pub
  8. Wasn’t the Waters Edge formally The Shed ? edited to add just looked closely at the building work photos and agree is the old Liberty building , which to the best of my knowledge was not a pub but a restaurant , as opposed to the old Waters Edge (The Shed) which was more a pub
  9. Brilliant !!!! my sentiments exactly
  10. We always take Bramble with us into the various pubs we use when in Broadland we are however aware that she is young and overly friendly and keep her on her lead , we a couple of exceptions where we (and her) know everyone and it’s permitted . That said beware at the spring meet as she regards empty laps as fair game (as Neil found out last year)
  11. Sadly time to go home , typical , it’s warm with clear blue skies this morning , back for Easter
  12. We had a very good lunch in the Swan , but no real ale due to a failed delivery 😢, had to make do with Guinness , since moved on and now moored up at Neateshead staithe , guess I will have to sample The White Horse later to make up for lunchtimes deprivation
  13. Is a traditional village pub , excellent ales , good honest food and great company . Currently due to ill health food is only available on Friday / Saturday and some Wednesdays so if looking for food best to ring them first
  14. We are up for the weekend , Friday we arrived late as Katie was covering at work , managed to make the Crown Catfield for 20:30 for dinner , back on board and unloaded by 22:30 . Saturday chilly but sunny , poodled up to Ranworth , taxi rank sadly occupied so moored up adjacent to them in the side dyke , had a peaceful day and by dusk there were 10 boats moored up , dinner was on board and delivered by Acle Spice , good value and abundant but surprisingly, given the name of the establishment , totally lacking in spice. Left the staithe at 09:30 and tried our luck at Horning , now moored at our favoured spot next to the Swan moorings
  15. Thank you Grendel , we will be looking for a volunteer to lead a CinC from Ranworth please , and as usual help in collecting the gazebo et al from Horning , let me know on here if you are able to help or wish to lead the CinC Our gracious Treasurer has agreed to set the quiz again this year after his very successful , and enjoyable quiz last year
  16. Katie and I can certainly confirm this , we spent a hilarious afternoon in there with Pusseycat and crew , and the huge added bonus is that The Waveney is the cheapest drinks of any hostelry on the Broads
  17. The rapid change over to online shopping which was fuelled by the covid pandemic , which IMO accelerated its growth by at least 20 years , means the High Street in thousands of towns and cities has changed forever . We see an abundance of food outlets , charity shops , betting shops and pop up shops where once a household name traded , on every street corner in cities we see chain coffee shops the days of colourful vibrant streets with stores offering their wares have all but gone with a few niche streets reminding us of “the good old days”.
  18. We had a delivery whilst moored on Horning staithe from Waitrose a couple of weeks ago , we ordered it when we moored up in the afternoon for between 0800 and 0900 the next morning it arrived at 0815
  19. I would normally go for the fish and chips
  20. Before we get into a he said , she said argument on here , irrespective of any prior history involving the anglers or the boat owner , the behaviour of the anglers as shown on the video falls far short of what one would or should expect . As our Chairman has politely requested please can we stay inside the TOS when posting on this matter edited to add , my posting obviously crossed over that of Grendels and I share his sentiments
  21. Wondered why we had not “bumped into you “ lately , hope you’re both well and that we will see you afloat soon
  22. If a boat owner pays monthly it will show as unpaid , best not to assume please
  23. The vast majority of anglers we have encountered over the years have been very good in moving to allow us to moor up , in fact in 30+ years we have only had issues twice , we often offer the anglers (once we have moored) a cuppa as do many other boaters . The Broads ARE on the whole a friendly sociable place , idiots like those in the video are rare .
