  1. On the EDP website under MOST READ there is a short video which shows the boat. I doesn’t look like a normal day boat more like a small cruiser.
  2. A full report can be found on the Hemsby Lifeboat Facebook page.
  3. Norfolk Police and coastguard teams from Winterton and Bacton were looking for a boat stolen from Barton Broad at 23.35 last night. After an extensive search nothing was found and the coastguard teams were stood down.
  4. I saw an example this week on the Barnes Brinkcraft Webcam. On the opposite bank to Brinkcraft there are 3 private boats moored side on. The end one had left it’s mooring and one of Richardsons hire boats was in its place. The crew were fishing from it. It had moved off later in the day.
  5. If I remember correctly Norman Chalks was at the top of the hill just before the station. They used to run a pony and trap from the riverside to the restaurant on Saturday nights.
  6. I remember when I first started hiring boats on the Broads in the 60s you had cool box and a frozen water bottle. All the boatyards had chest freezers full of frozen bottles which you exchanged daily or whenever the opportunity arose.
  7. It was originally Judith 6, built by Martham Boats in 1952. A stunning addittion to Horning Pleasure Craft.
  8. Brinkcraft seem to have several boats for sale at the end of this season.
  9. We were in the garden at the Swan in Horning yesterday lunchtime and they were only taking pre ordered food orders. We have eaten at The Cross Keys Dilham, The Crown Smallburgh and the Lion at Thurne this week. Good food at all three and none seemed that busy in their restaurants.
  10. I have just read a post from Acle Bridge Inn stating that due to the number of staff that have had to self isolate in the last 12 Hours they have had to take the decision to close temporarily.
  11. Sorry Ian. Forgot to Welcome you as a new Member. Welcome to the site. So much information available on here from other members.
  12. I am not aware of any boatyards on the Broads that sell petrol. Most people with petrol boats have to re fill using Jerry Cans.
  13. Took Tanzanite Emblem up to end of dyke and turned ok 40 ft. Also took Gracious Emblem up there but turned it on ropes. Both days were calm with no wind.
  14. I think Langford had a thing about front curtains we hired Thunderbolt that had no front curtains and when we had Blenheim on it’s first letting that had curtains but no tracking or fittings to attach them to.
  15. The Alpha Craft yard at St Olaves was originally owned and run by Langford’s father. It’s hire fleet comprised of wooden boats. When Langford took over the business he slowly changed the fleet over to Fibre glass and moved the operation to Brundall. As business started to increase he moved part of the hire fleet back to St Olaves and also did boat building there. When he retired the two sons to over running of the business.
  16. Yes they did have problems with silting up. We hired regularly from Alpha Craft. I remember going into the Yard at St Olaves one day and Langford had. one of his cruisers tied up in the basin with the prop running at high revs. I asked what was he doing and he said he was clearing the silt.
  17. Have just seen BA come through the bridge on the Webcam. Very impressive.

    Peregrines

There were 4 chicks originally but unfortunately one died on the 16th May.
  19. What about diesel for marine use. Didn’t EU ban red diesel. Could that be reversed if we decide on a no deal.
  20. I can recommend Ferry Marina. They have a good selection of boats including some recently new additions. The price is fully inclusive and includes a full tank of fuel, free parking and free damage waiver insurance.
  21. Alpha Craft had two Alpha 50s in their hire fleet. Mirage and Brabazon. They were 10 Berth. I remember Langford Jillings saying the BA had tried to stop him putting them in his fleet.
  22. We hired Skyhawk from Alph Craft for 2 X 2 weeks in 1990 & 2 X 2 weeks 1991. Lovely boat with plenty of room. We hired from Alpha craft for years.
