    Houseboats.

Theres a really old house boat moored alongside the Hotel Wroxham, the owner lives aboard and for a small fee he will let you inside for a look.
  2. Great story,Magnifique is moored at our boatyard and was recently sold into private ownership.Still a great looking imposing boat .
  3. Distance by car is not a problem as we travel up from Kent so if any thing the southern rivers are nearer. As soon as the boat is loaded then were of cruising ( well as soon as the wife has had here fill of Roys ! ).I suppose pontoons are the best option,so how do non pontoons moorers get on with the rise and fall of the tides, my wifes knees arnt that good so the easiest option for getting aboard would be good. Thanks to every one so far for there comments. Regards Kevin .
  4. we have been moored for the past 3 years in Wroxham at a well known yard, and are thinking of changing for a southern mooring next year.Ive looked at a lot of yards and marinas on line, but theres nothing like recommendations. We require electric, water, pump out ,an on site engineer would be good.We have cruised the southern rivers before, and were really looking for a change of scene..Also any body wanting to "go the other way",perhaps we could do a swap? Its not written in stone that we will make the move, but the crew are considering it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  5. They did a good job on our saloon settee extension cushion two years ago.
  6. We moored there overnight last summer and the quay attendant was excellent .
  7. Ok thanks, i was thinking of quieter stretches of the Ant,perhaps for a couple of days fishing where you wouldnt be getting in the way. Good to know that the BA were making sure people were safe and sound.

    Moorings

We were out cruising at the weekend and saw a boat moored in one of the smaller broads, mud weighting bow and stern about a metre from the trees and reeds. This got me wondering as to how long you could moor there, before the BA would ask you to move on? Same question as on one of the rivers, so to be clear, none of his ropes are touching any tree or river bank. I know that some of the broads are owned and you can be asked to move after 24 hours, but im reluctant to say which broad as i think it might be a liveaboard,,and its at a very secluded spot and i cant see that hes doing any harm .
  9. Boat Shed Norfolk have 4 Hamptons for sale
  10. Hi Polly, Im sorry but due to unforeseen work commitments ,Aboattime wont be able to attend the meet. Were both very disappointed, but hope every body has a great time, Regards Kevin
  11. Many years ago when Connoisseur were still at the old yard ,up stream of Wroxham bridge, our engineer who did the trial run and took us under the bridge wasnt even allowed to get of the boat at Faircraft (he was shouted at),so he got of outside the Wroxham Hotel. The boat was stationery for about 10 seconds, before we were away on our holiday.
  12. For me it was battery charger, our bilge pump runs of them and was always worried, no pump, boat in danger. Now i have peace of mind, and with fully charged bank of batteries the engine should start. Then i sorted out a boat recovery scheme,so if disaster strikes, then help will come.
  13. SPEEDTRIPLE, The 2 Maffett boats are for sale on Boat Shed .Norfolk
  14. We stopped at Pacific last summer for diesel and pump out.The owner was a pleasure to deal with, during the conversation we got to talking about his boat maintenance, he certainly knows his stuff and obviously takes great pride in all his boats,so i dont think you will be disappointed.Have a great holiday .

  19. Really hope the weather changes soon as were having the boat de winterised in 2 weeks, ready for our first cruise of the long awaited new season.Pain before pleasure though, the Big Clean .Any body else gonna be about on the northern rivers on the first week end in March?
  20. Hi Mark, Loddon is one of our favourite places to visit on the Southern Broads even though we are moored in Wroxham..We had a great meal at the White Horse last August and if you moor in the basin you can use the electricity ,water, and the newly refurbished toilets and showers. There is also Tea Rooms by the Mill and Take Aways, Have a great time Regards Kevin
  21. I remember many years ago that The New Inn at Horning had a lot of trouble with the BA over the way they did the front garden leading down to the river.Personally i think they did a great job and the garden looks brilliant.
  22. Try Alan at Sabena, he repaired our rubbing strake some time ago, he did a good job.
  23. Itll be interesting to see if the BA take the same action against Barns in Wroxham, regarding the new moorings ??
