  1. Yes that was me! I’m on Chiltern Lady…😎
  2. I moored there (Neatishead) last night, there were just four boats - three private (all solo) and one HW Ruby with three fishermen on board. So far so good - however this morning Ruby’s engine was started about 05.30 and run until they departed about an hour later. Who knew that HW fitted nav lights! As I was up, I left earlier than planned at 08.00. On a lighter note I was at Ranworth on Thursday and pleased to report all boats were moored stern on. I left 60p on the meter and thought of Graham (R.I.P).
  3. February on the Broads - you’ll be fine…😎
  4. Me too. I never knew him well, but as a solo helm (most of the time) I got to know him a bit and enjoyed “chewing the cud” with him mainly at Ranworth. I will always remember the longest extension lead ever. RIP Graham.
  5. …and it looks like they are keeping Capri. Not many Safaris left in the hire fleet now.
  6. How quickly things have changed from really busy to fairly quiet… wished we were afloat, but will be again w/c 7th with a bit of luck…😎
  7. Me too! They sorted out the orange scuff marks on Chiltern Lady quickly and professionally.
  8. Now for the BIG one - the place where Herbert Woods are located…
  9. Not to be pedantic, but CL was also Norwich 😎
  10. Ah, a Norwich registration I believe…😎
  11. I’ve moved from a Hampton Safari Mk2 to an Aquafibre Opal. They are very similar, the AF a bit roomier due to the increased length 28ft v 25ft, and the beam 11ft 6in v 9ft 6in. Having said that the storage space on the Hampton is better! So maybe the Hampton Safari has been succeeded…😎
  12. Simon, thanks for finding out about this for us 😎
  13. I use a 240v Tower brand slow cooker, but only when on shore power. It does make for hearty meals as the weather moves into winter 😎
  14. You’re making me peckish now - time we met up again! I’m planning a solo trip south 23rd with the aim of mooring at Carrow Road for Norwich City V Leicester City on the 28th 😎
  15. Haha. Yes, it was, thanks for jogging the old memory!
  16. Yes, I do. And you’re right it was always damp! And BTW the Smiths crisp factory was, I think located, on North Quay Gt Yarmouth, clearly visible from the river.
  17. We always went for the “red” drink, no idea now what that was, plus a packet of crisps - Smiths - with salt in a blue bag. Favourite spot was the “Boat and Bottle” in Thorpe St Andrews
  18. Hard to believe now, but when we were kids in the 60’s, pubs generally did not serve food. You might get a sandwich and crisps, but that was about it. I can remember as a family being on board, Dad would moor up anywhere near a pub and with me and my brother in tow head off to said pub in the dinghy, while Mum cooked lunch (mostly a full roast). You may wonder why my brother and I went, as kids weren’t allowed in pubs in those days…yes it was to row the old man back to the boat!😎
  19. We had Trimnet supply ours back in 2017. Alan (JawsOrca) measured up for us and when it arrived by carrier all we had to do was roll it out - it fitted perfectly. I’m afraid I can’t remember the cost (best to forget these things!) Would highly recommend it, we’re considering it for our current boat as its carpet is now 25 years old 😎
  20. Me too! Also got some WRC cards that I’m unlikely to use😎
  21. Warm air heaters do use a bit of current when initially starting up, but once you are running the draw is negligible. Good advice is to run the engine, or be on shore power, when starting the heating.
  22. I always have plenty on board, and if I see anyone struggling to workout how to use the electric posts will offer them a card. (P.s. they are £2 each aren’t they???) PPS Just kidding 😎
  23. We use a Norwich based broker - Alan Boswell
  24. My AF Opal has twin doors to the bow and a single to the stern. They all open outwards and I would prefer them to open inwards. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it a DIY job, or professional only? Any tips gratefully received…😎
