  1. Thanks for the link - ordered mine šŸ˜Ž
  2. Just to add, having never been to the Falgate Inn before, we had lunch there on Wednesday (21st July) and the service, food and drink was excellent. Weā€™ll return and would recommend šŸ˜Ž
  3. Alan, Iā€™ve not come across the green ones, do you know what they are for?
  4. No, not much of a drain on a set of decent domestic batteries. šŸ˜Ž
  5. My one week, one month and one year in all arrived today - I think I joined 2017! šŸ˜Ž
  6. I think thing have changed this year - the pilots will, upon payment Ā£7.50 each way, take any boat through. They carry card machines too!
  7. Thanks for the timely notice - planning to go across next Tuesday - will take extra care.
  8. Just received this from the EA - posted for information only. Saline Barrier at Potter Heigham ā€œDue to the current strong winds there is currently a surge tide forecast for the Norfolk Broads. This email is to inform you that we will be closing the saline barrier at Herbert Woods Boat Yard, Potter Heigham today, Tuesday 4 May at 4pm. I apologise for the short notice of this closure. We hope to re-open the barrier on Thursday 6 May and will send another email to confirm the time. We will continue to monitor the situation and will let you know of any changes. Kind Regards, Rachaelā€
  9. Like you I will often help other boaters to moor, sometimes out of self-preservation, but generally just to be helpful. Most are very grateful for the help, but occasionally my offer to help has been spurned - good job Iā€™m thick skinned!
  10. Good point, I was (selfishly) just thinking gel coat...
  11. I use car based products from Autoglym. Ultra High Definition Polishing Compound followed by Super Resin Polish/Ultra Deep Shine I give the wheel and tyre products a miss on the boat!
  12. Mmm... the apostrophe thing is subject to much debate, I believe some (all?) local authorities stopped using them on road signs!
  13. Agree itā€™s lovely, but the pedant in me thinks there is only one N in ST BENETS, and Stracey Arms is now STRACEY MILL.
  14. Eh? Only when tying up surely!
  15. Sometimes when I canā€™t get off to sleep, I imagine setting off on a boating journey, varying the start point, otherwise, I mean it could get boring...
  16. And me now! It must have been just me
  17. I canā€™t access Craigā€™s database - anyone else, or is it just me?
  18. Saint and Greavsy came to our local football club fundraiser one evening - great entertainers - great value for money - very approachable. R.I.P.
  19. Mmm, thereā€™s a lot of that sort of thing going on, including people over normal retirement age working on, not that Iā€™m suggesting they donā€™t need the work either, but it does put pressure on youngsters who canā€™t get work.
  20. I guess it comes under ā€œvolunteeringā€, similar to charity shop workers and no doubt many others. Regarding the ā€œlowā€ pay, I did see there is a pension scheme in place with an 18% contribution from the employer...itā€™s all the add ons inc. N.I. Contributions that employers have to budget for.

What about 75 shareholders each with a Ā£20,000 shareholding? Just a thought...
  24. As soon as I heard the news this morning that his family were at his bedside, I guess it was inevitable, still as always still a shock to the family - they will miss him. RIP Captain Tom.
