Saline Barrier at Potter Heigham
āDue to the current strong winds there is currently a surge tide forecast for the Norfolk Broads.
This email is to inform you that we will be closing the saline barrier at Herbert Woods Boat Yard, Potter Heigham today, Tuesday 4 May at 4pm. I apologise for the short notice of this closure. We hope to re-open the barrier on Thursday 6 May and will send another email to confirm the time.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will let you know of any changes.
Kind Regards,
Rachaelā
Like you I will often help other boaters to moor, sometimes out of self-preservation, but generally just to be helpful. Most are very grateful for the help, but occasionally my offer to help has been spurned - good job Iām thick skinned!
I use car based products from Autoglym.
Ultra High Definition Polishing Compound
followed by Super Resin Polish/Ultra Deep Shine
I give the wheel and tyre products a miss on the boat!

I guess it comes under āvolunteeringā, similar to charity shop workers and no doubt many others.
Regarding the ālowā pay, I did see there is a pension scheme in place with an 18% contribution from the employer...itās all the add ons inc. N.I. Contributions that employers have to budget for.
As soon as I heard the news this morning that his family were at his bedside, I guess it was inevitable, still as always still a shock to the family - they will miss him.
RIP Captain Tom.
