  1. Good news, let’s hope it happens! I look forward to mooring there for the first time (hopefully).
  2. Bluebell / Chiltern Lady / 1or2 / Friday y / Saturday / y
  3. Thanks Annv (John), that sounds like a good idea. Now you’ve given me a plan C!!
  4. The one thing I miss is the solar panel. We had one on the last boat and that gave us the backup needed to keep batteries charged without running the engine. As we now have an electric fridge I should be looking to get another solar panel, oh yes, and maybe led lighting.
  5. One solution, if you have space, would be to have a separate battery for the bow thruster. If not tend to agree with others about not using the starter battery for anything other than starting the engine. There is a very compact battery capable of producing high currents for short('ish) bursts, pricey but long living i.e. I've had one for over 15 years. https://optimabatteries.co.uk/ Hope that helps.
  6. Thanks for that Woodwose (Nigel of Ludham) a great response as usual. As the towel rail is rated at IP22, it appears not suitable for being splashed. The heads on board is not large enough for the rail to be mounted out of reach of the shower (to be fair it's hardly big enough to shower in!) Plan B then, use it free standing to warm the towel before and dry it after use. PS BTW even if it was suitable for wall mounting in the heads, I would have used it to dry the towel after showering rather than wetting the towel in the shower!!!
  7. Happy New Year all What was your favourite Christmas present? Mine is a 230v electric towel rail. But Is it ok to fit it in the heads i.e. in the shower? The wiring would be external to the heads i.e. in the saloon. It is also freestanding so could be used outside the heads. Any advice gratefully received.
  8. Yes Ray, mostly like that 😀👍😀
  9. Yeah, but I hate not knowing where I’m going . EXACTLY.
  10. This was ‘you know where’ this afternoon. Lovely sunny day for a change. A couple of hundred yards away on our mooring completely dry (on the roadway!). A Merry Christmas to All.
  11. Wow! Do post on here the next time you plan to go through as I’d love to pass you going the other way😎
  12. If only I’d been there🙁 I’ve never moored there yet🙁 Always full, thank goodness for Richos.
  13. Hear hear! So terrible for the ordinary people going about their business to be attacked in this way.
  14. Just checking with family working in the City that they are okay.
  15. Wow! Increased house prices due to the proximity of supermarkets. Who’d have thought? Well, we are now within walking distance of a Waitrose, Lidl and Morrison’s. When we moved here we just had a Summerfield. So our house must be worth a fortune 👍🤑😀 Any guesses as to where we are in Norfolk?
  16. Yes, your layout is quite unique, Chiltern Lady is very similar to Dutch Bounty.
  17. We are at Herbert Woods in Potter Heigham, where Edith Rose used moor. I see that another Opal ‘Dutch Bounty’ has just been sold by NYA, another lovely boat.
  18. Nice boat! Actually an Aquafibre Opal 28, a bit like mine. I'll give you a wave when I see you.
  19. Me too! Long time ago, happy memories of the Sabbertons and the Royalls.
  20. I think that Cheryl on 07803 619015 manages the site on behalf of whoever owns it now.
  21. Couldn’t make it up could you? Left home in bright sunshine and just before Acle dark clouds and rain. Was planning on getting Chiltern Lady ready for winter and it tipped it down (yes, in Potter Heigham). Gave up after a couple of hours and will have to pop back, weather permitting, next week.
  22. Oops, silly me I suggested Battery Specialists when they were taken over by Multicell years ago. Should keep taking the tablets!
  23. There’s not too much to choose between standard leisure batteries. I guess you are looking at 100 to 120 amp/hour. Usual sources might be Boulters, Panks in Norwich, Battery Specialists also In Norwich, even Halfords. I always use Paul at Rotating Electrics in Yarmouth (01493 330404) as he has a wealth of knowledge and in a fellow boater! No need to change the starter battery unless it too is knackered. I reckon the cost is around £100 per unit. Hope that helps, but I’m sure others will be along with more help.
