  1. Same here, mostly on my Tod. Have learned over the years to use the ropes quite effectively. The trick is use the wind and/or tide plus long ropesšŸ˜€
  2. A friend of mine ( well, more business colleague) bought the original house that is now a pile of rubble in the 80ā€™s from the the water board. He got a bargain because of the location! (ie next to water pumping station). The new owners have certainly developed the site to its full potential. Iā€™d be happy with the boat house! Itā€™s certainly a head turner, hope they enjoy šŸ˜Š
  3. Good thinking, Iā€˜ll do thatšŸ‘
  4. In fairness they were very apologetic on behalf of their hirers. Iā€™m quite thick skinned, so Iā€™m not too bothered about how the general public are these days. I donā€™t like it, but it is how it is. I expected Richardsonā€™s would sort it out, and they did. A happy outcome.
  5. Iā€™d like to email Richardsonā€™s my thanks, does anyone have an email address?
  6. Weā€™ve had a Cello from Royā€™s for about 18mths now and found it perfectly satisfactory. To be fair we do just use it to watch live TV, it has smart capability, but of course needs WiFi to work. Hope this helps.
  7. Yesterday we were moored at Ludham Bridge, just upstream from the demasting area. The kettle had boiled and coffee was on the go. Out of the corner of my eye an orange boat was looming close by, too close, too close by far. Their bow was at about 45 degrees to the bank and we were subjected to a scrape along the starboard side. I called out to the crew and they responded (too rude to repeat), and made off without stopping. Now the good news, I phoned Richardsonā€™s and explained what happened. They offered to visit at our home moorings to assess the damage. I suggested that as we were on the way to Stalham we could call in. We arrived this morning to be greeted by two members of staff (Tony and Carl). The damage was minimal as it turns out and within the hour a cut and polish restored Chiltern Lady to her usual pristine self. Thanks to Richardsonā€™s for some good old fashioned service.
  8. Me too! Avoid all media all day until I get time to watch. Never mind eh!
  9. Chiltern Lady also has a separate tank to flush the loo, so may be not so unusual.
  10. Have you tried the Hampton Safari Boat Club http://Www.hamptonsafaribc.org they have a lot of information on their site as well as boats for sale. Good luck, I love Hamptons, but swopped to an Aquafibre Opal last year.šŸ˜Ž
  11. Another vote for Alan Boswell from me. (Well they do sponsor Norwich City as well as being a nice company to deal with! āš½ļøšŸ˜ŽšŸ˜‡šŸ‘
  12. Whoops! That looks nasty, you didnā€™t say how you managed to do that, I am assuming in the galley? Great pictures! Sorry not around at the weekend, hoping to be out and about in a week or two, subject to shore based admiralā€™s list of things to do ā˜¹ļø
  13. There we are under way on the Waveney courtesy of young Dave.
  14. Hello Eddy Bear, good to see you at the Hampton meet at Acle Bridge. You certainly have a one off boat. We are members of the HSBC, but donā€™t actually still own a Hampton!
  15. I think Iā€™d go for a 25kg myself. But that might depend on manual or powered!
  16. I would never consider going south on a weeks holiday, unless starting in the south and vice versa if that makes sensešŸ„“
  17. Sorry to read your post. Itā€™s something that most of us may have to face at some point. One couple we know have ā€œcrewā€ to help and that suits them. Good luck with finding a replacement for the boat. Jim
  18. Ray, I have some sympathy with you. The first time we moored there we were also a bit confused. Itā€™s ok now we know, but until you...
  19. Here! here! This is what happens when these organisation lose focus. I too, very regrettable, will consider my long held support.
  20. Yes, I despair of all these organisations that lose sight of the original reason they were set up. They appear to become too PC. Itā€™s not just the RNLI the RSPCA and other charities seem to concentrate on side issues along with paying large salaries and spending money that isnā€™t theirs on things they probably wouldnā€™t spend their own money on. So they have lost money and made UK staff redundant. I despair of organisations like this surviving the REAL world.
  21. Oh really, well itā€™s along way to go so good luck. Letā€™s have a look next May should we?
  22. Sorry, but Iā€™m still buzzing. āš½ļøāš½ļøāš½ļøāš½ļø
