  1. That's the best excuse going, calor don't care if they're there or not when you take them back, so when can I collect?
  2. Oh bu55er! Looks like I'll have to slum it on the broads and east coast then for my upcoming trip....
  3. Many thanks for the bottles Mikeyboy. Next scavenge... Does anyone have a couple of the screw on dust caps for these bottles?

    Boat Ids

Ah yes I think it was this one that pricked my interest before, it's well worth having a river trial on to see just how it handles as it has the cost benefit of the one engine and I bet the "clever hydraulics" is just a collection of off the shelf industrial/plant components that can be bought without a picture of a boat on the box adding a couple of zeros to the price, keep the oil changed regularly and the system will likely last years, it could be a great handling river boat Take pics of the hydraulic components data plates and research before buying and you could be on a winner, I bet they are easier to source parts for than the average volvo MS4a gearboxes I have (and soo many others have). Add a bow thruster and you will be able to put that boat anywhere.

The sancerre at jones has twin levers in the pics so it must be a twin engine. Funnily enough I'll be at jones later today to pick up some gas bottles from Mikeyboy.

    Boat Ids

I have a 30DS and it can be a pig for single handing in a wind but I guess it depends on the setup, mine is twin diesels on shafts with no keel, often wind and tide does it all for you but when it doesn't you know all about it. It's great as a smaller sea boat and mostly OK on the southern broads due to airdraft but if you only want to stay on the rivers it may not be the best option.
  7. As long as you can insulate the cable ends properly just disconnect it. You may well find it's connected into the nearest light (mine was) in which case tug the cables and see what moves, if you find it just snip the other ends. Cables pulled out is always the best scenario but not if it takes 3 days of destruction to trace them.
  8. You could get a vinyl graphic of a shaver socket and stick it over the holes, then wait for someone to try and plug in.....
  9. Looks like you are going to need a bigger mirror Lulu, the easy way to cover the holes.
  10. I'll be there! Will there be extra points for spider webs?
  11. I thought he was having a kebab for brekkie.
  12. You made the right choice, wasps do lots of good in the number of small pests they prey on and when under attack can give off pheromones which tend to attract more wasps, angry wasps at that.
  13. I removed this one mainly as it took too much space in a cupboard (an open cupboard so had airflow), swmbo plugged a leccy toothbrush in to charge once and it got got pretty damn hot so glad I no longer have it aboard. Luckily I had planned to unplug the brush when we stopped to save the batteries anyway but could have gone horribly wrong if I'd forgotten it.
  14. Cheers Mikeyboy, what do you want for them? I have a couple but a couple spare won't go amiss. Do they have the thread caps with them? I ask as they won't be going via the usual system for filling. Are you around st.ives this weekend?
  15. I have an auto afff in the engine bay, it has a sprinkler type head with the wax bulb. Big advantage is if it goes off with engines running they will just stop where powder would destroy them if it gets past the air filter.
  16. Which stockist did you get this from? I just called one and they said no chance of taking calor bottles as a swap.
  17. That's handy to know! I knew they took some other companies bottles but calor wasn't on the list on their website. Edit: A hunt around online shows that not to be the case, quite a list of other names but not calor.
  18. If anyone has made the switch to flogas I'm looking for a couple of 4.5kg calor bottles for self filling, can collect from South cambs. Or southern broads.
  19. Was the first pic 2m2 of logs? Can I ask what they cost? (PM is fine) As far as my day went, someone got me horribly drunk and I have a sneaking suspicion it was me......(it was, there's no bloody doubt about it)
  20. Can't you make an electric strimmer to fix on the front of the bike and give it a trim on your way?
  21. More importantly which heats the water, both engines should charge both banks via a splitter.
  22. Those of us on the great ouse were pleased the bedford Milton Keynes link didn't happen, great ouse just doesn't have the moorings to be on a circular canal route and most local boats couldn't go the other way due to airdraft.
  23. Don't let breydon put you off heading south, just use the recommended times and follow the channel and there's absolutely nowt to worry about (apart from those pesky sea monsters), even if you do go the wrong way it's still a fair distance down to the entrance and plenty of time to turn around once past haven.
  24. The lower bure is shower rotation time, that way you all get clean and still have a tank of hot water when you moor up so no need to annoy everyone running engines at moorings and you miss the boring bits.
