  1. I have an auto afff in the engine bay, it has a sprinkler type head with the wax bulb. Big advantage is if it goes off with engines running they will just stop where powder would destroy them if it gets past the air filter.
  2. Which stockist did you get this from? I just called one and they said no chance of taking calor bottles as a swap.
  3. That's handy to know! I knew they took some other companies bottles but calor wasn't on the list on their website. Edit: A hunt around online shows that not to be the case, quite a list of other names but not calor.
  4. If anyone has made the switch to flogas I'm looking for a couple of 4.5kg calor bottles for self filling, can collect from South cambs. Or southern broads.
  5. Was the first pic 2m2 of logs? Can I ask what they cost? (PM is fine) As far as my day went, someone got me horribly drunk and I have a sneaking suspicion it was me......(it was, there's no bloody doubt about it)
  6. Can't you make an electric strimmer to fix on the front of the bike and give it a trim on your way?
  7. More importantly which heats the water, both engines should charge both banks via a splitter.
  8. Those of us on the great ouse were pleased the bedford Milton Keynes link didn't happen, great ouse just doesn't have the moorings to be on a circular canal route and most local boats couldn't go the other way due to airdraft.
  9. Don't let breydon put you off heading south, just use the recommended times and follow the channel and there's absolutely nowt to worry about (apart from those pesky sea monsters), even if you do go the wrong way it's still a fair distance down to the entrance and plenty of time to turn around once past haven.
  10. The lower bure is shower rotation time, that way you all get clean and still have a tank of hot water when you moor up so no need to annoy everyone running engines at moorings and you miss the boring bits.
  11. At ludham moor up and walk under with a tape measure, the gauge boards lie, I've been under with 8'2" showing and I need 8'8" to clear radar arch and vhf mounts when I'm folded down, I still had a bit of clearance, not sure now what state of tide was but I don't think it was fully low.
  12. Some run on one engine but they handle much better on two, mine has no keel at all and is a complete pig on one when maneuvering or going slowly.
  13. Don't even think about mudweighting on breydon, and as a newbie on southern rivers when mooring check which way the water is flowing and moor against it, go past and turn around if you need to but mooring against the flow makes everything much slower and controlled and the brakes will actually work, moor with the tide and you can become an out of control projectile bouncing along a line of very grumpy boaters. Don't fear the tide use it to your advantage. And please do not feed the krakens!
  14. If the tanks have a drain with a shut off valve you could use a length of clear hose as a temporary sight gauge, I have a section of brewers line on each of mine that I use when filling rather than the gauges so I can brim without overflow, because they can be shut off once checked the BSS doesn't worry about them. Yes wayford is a wee bit different from watford.... Assuming it's on shafts handling it will be fairly easy so don't worry, just check which way each props rotates as will assist your decision when maneuvering, twins make for some interesting maneuvers.
  15. If the tank positions are anything like my 30DS changing senders is an engines out job, I fitted new senders while I was replacing tanks and I don't want to be lifting the engines out and back ever again, doubt I'm even fit enough to consider it now, that said 80hp mermaids are probably a good deal lighter than my volvos. I now dose and overdose my fuel anytime I can and especially before winter (luckily just before the first lockdown too), I've had my fill of fuel contamination issues thanks.
  16. Are you moving by water or truck? Fuel consumption suggests by water in which case I'd be looking at fuel tank cleanliness before attempting the trip on a new to you boat, has it been used on sea or just pootling along rivers? Sorry can't help with consumption.
  17. I have a 130w panel on the roof of my boat and although it won't keep up with full load usage it really does boost things during the day, photonic universe is a good place to look and go for mppt controller, I have pwm type as I wanted two outputs with level control so engine battery was also maintained (mainly due to lockdowns) but as a live aboard your engine battery will be fine standing between runs so no need. Mine would do better with mppt and may change at some point. With your roof space that would have been one of my first purchases, go as big as you can afford.
  18. Rats pee is the most common source of leptospirosis, when I worked on the local power station construction we all got given cards to hand to doctors about it as the weather turned and rats started sheltering in the cable ducts more as they all had water in the bottom.
  19. He could woof, wag his tail, and lick their face! NO MM I DID NOT SAY LICK THAT FIRST!!!!!!!!!
  20. Sit down, carry out a quality control check on your libation department, and chill. It was a year ago and they probably don't remember it anyway. Failing that go and wee on their lines..... (while no one's looking)
  21. I'd assumed the guy in the scooter was ex forces but never actually chatted to him other than the usual hi/morning in passing sort of thing. I've never had any problems at loddon basin, maybe I just look like a dealer so they're nice to me....
  22. You mean grumpy old git syndrome? I'm already practicing.
  23. The weather is going to improve massively around the 18th august and stay good for at least 2 weeks! I hope......
  24. And with a tight wrap of insulation tape first if using the rope, cut in the middle of the tape and it won't fray back as you do it, if just clearing a prop you won't care. But avoid polypropylene rope it's hideous, but does float so good for keeping out of props and lifebuoys/throwing lines.
