  1. He has his wise moments - and knowing when to push it and more specifically, when not to, is Very Wise
  2. Defo could not do without the vac bags at the beginning and end of the season, such a difference in the packing space
  3. My other half swears this is an actual Norfolk law....
  4. Have a wonderful time, I think a little wander in the peace of springtime should be perfect!
  5. Welcome to the forum! We can go under Ludham, but only at low tide I think, and I'm sure we are 8ft6 or thereabouts. Am also v nervous about the gauges- I like a good bit of breathing space- chopping the top off is my recurring nightmare Perhaps give the yard a call beforehand re booking?
  6. I need to share a quote from my little sister about 20 yrs ago when talking very sagely with her friend about a song in the charts at the time: "oh yes, my dad has the original of that on lino..." I kid you not.....

    Sunset

    At PH tonight
  8. Ah bless, I would expect nothing less than an honest offer of assistance from a member of our emergency services, but fear not - I am in no need of such help- He Who Thinks He’s Captain is always on the ‘safe footing’ case And yes, I must admit that I can be considered a wine ? fan, though the Ghostship at Acle Bridge yesterday was just the ticket
  9. Grace I am, of course, much obliged for your sage advice here. But flats? My sop to not sinking the heels is the wedge- bigger surface area on the floor whilst not sacrificing the height...I’m honestly not sure I can go much further... im also pushed for space in the bag- He Who Thinks He’s Captain and the kids always find ‘important things’ that I absolutely must carry about. Apparently wallets, keys, snacks and spare jumpers are all my responsibility i dd show lovely boat yard manager my more practical option- I’m convinced the walking away shaking head was him just regretting he’d not thought of them first
  10. Welcome, a lovely intro and great to have you as part of the forum!
  11. If there’s a shoe-off, then I will need to confess that Imelda Marcos has nothing on me...genuine, full time, paid up, VIP member of Shoe Addiction Club. I shall also have to admit to being roundly ‘advised’ by a very lovely boat yard manager that suede, wedge, platform sandals weren’t ideal for hoping on and off a boat. I agreed of course- I find wedge flip flops are much more practical

    Sunset

So if the saying is right, tonight’s sunset gives hope for a lovely day tomorrow... if you’re out on the rivers, enjoy!
  13. Paste of lemon juice and salt, or white wine vinegar? I also use Milton nappy sanitiser on my car roof- kills bugs, algae etc without being harsh....
  14. Ah, a very familiar run of river for me. I shall have to give you a wave next time I’m going by. Obviously, you will know it’s me as I shall carry a yellow rose and a copy of the Times....
  15. That must be so hard for your friend, especially when wedding plans are in full swing. Fingers crossed that our absolutely brilliant docs and nurses do their thing now. It’s really good that your friend thought to call you and you we’re able to offer the support needed at such an emotional time- that’s what besties are for! Always important when you are being a support that you look after you too- tired and wobbly supports are not as good, so the comfiest and a wee glass of something is defo in order!
  16. Welcome Drifter, wishing you many wonderful days aboard!
  17. I'm sure it's tough for John & Mary-Jane to let her go, but knowing just how much enjoyment she is bringing to her new responsible adults, and how much they are going treasure her will provide much comfort. Wishing all parties well for the coming months in your coming adventures, whatever they may be
  18. Welcome! I'm new around here too, but it's really friendly and supportive. can't wait to hear about your boat
  19. Lovely photo- wine, on a boat, on a river, under a blue sky and there is even a shadow! Does it get any better?
  20. Ooh do let us know how it is- I'll have to give it a go myself in a couple of weeks but a heads up would be good
  21. Lovely day to be on the rivers too
  22. Thanks Griff, sounds like a really tricky arrival at Dover having to find the way through in those conditions- I would have been really panicking, I’m sure. I have no doubt I may also have found myself tangling with a rather large ferry knowing my luck... Very occasionally having plans A, B, And C isn’t enough, but having a crew who are confident, capable and able to adapt to changes quickly is clearly the best plan you could ever have! Obviously, that was no accident either....
