  1. Just a heads up for anyone who, like me, uses brushes once then chucks them away. https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/diy/paintbrush-set/p45121 I'll be slicing the two widest ones down the middle to make two smaller ones for use with resin.
  2. Good idea but probably better to send an email as it could be forwarded on easier. There are at least a couple of us moored at BGM and although I'm not familiar with Sharon Rose, one of us will find them in due course if an email fails.
  3. Obviously I haven't the first clue about who you may be reffering to but on the evidence on this thread it sounds like the guy has a mental health problem driving any possible criminal activity. Let's hope he get's sorted out soon.
  4. I don't know you and I don't know him. Your honour and reputation will be well known to those who are important to you. His reputation will, likewise, if not already, become apparent. Takes me back to my childhood when my Mum used to say, "Take no notice of them; it's just a 9 day wonder."
  5. Should be £7.98 for us from Brundall Gardens then?
  6. And most supermarkets have large car parks. As a foreigner I have noticed railway stations being kept open in the middle of no-where which may, in other areas be closed. Just yesterday before coming home I visited Buckenham station (just to check out the car park for future walking visits) and wondered how much the station itself gets used.
  7. For anyone intending to use the A14 Newmarket byepass this coming Bank Holiday weekend, the barrier replacement works involving a 50 mph limit are still there. There were two sections of 50 mph, one for the barrier and the other for a bridge repair but things have moved on and now the two are merged into one section. I would avoid today if possible. Sorry if this is a bit late but I only came home late last night.
  8. I assumed the OP doesn't have a panel fitted or the original question would have been relating to it. I still maintain it's a good idea not to have main switches dotted all around the boat where one or two could easily be forgotten about. So we would need a fused switch panel that does have switches rated high enough to handle anything likely to be fitted to a boat. Just need to check the specifications before we buy but I would think it's hard to find one which wouldn't handle a fridge.
  9. Just my two pen'orth: Have you considered fitting a fused panel with all the switches together so you switch them off at the same place? The 140 miles between my boat and I is a motivator for a few memory aids due to the consequences of forgetting something. I always use a printed sheet and when leaving, go through it and say out loud what I'm doing, pilot style. Forecabin: Close hatch, lights off, tidy up. Galley: Gas off, water heater off, louvres closed, etc. (fridge switch is in a cupboard on the afore mentioned panel). Lastly as I close the door: "Behave yourself and I'll see you later".
  10. Here's a first: me posting on this thread. Go careful with me. I've just been watching Motorhoming with Merton & Webster on Channel 5 And caught a glimpse of what the untrained eye may call an ex Broads wooden cruiser. It's at Uphill Marina near Weston Super Mare. Anyone know if I'm close?
  11. Strange. I've always had Multicell batteries for my cars and caravan and they last for years without a problem. Have you contacted Multicell about it? Their customer service is usually good. The only reason they're not in my boat is because the boat ones are still good.
  12. Now that in itself will be something to see. I hope they bring Mrs Scrubbit and Spotty Dog.
  13. Using my crystal ball, previous experience or mathematical probability, I think may be able to see where this may be heading. How about we all look forward to next year's show? Seeing these lovely photos has made me sorry I didn't make it.
  14. My understanding is that the show is a celebration of the use of wood in boatbuilding, where the wood is clearly on show. Along with a celebration of older boats, and boat building. Which are both an excuse to get together with like minded persons. If you had a Cork Show, would you mind if people turned up with them still in the bottles?
  15. Great photos, apart from the ones with my old employer (Asda) in the background! Looks like everyone's having a great time but I notice some have their fenders stowed and some don't? Are those the ones within shouty distance of Broad Ambition? Will some skippers be keel-hauled later?
  16. I was just wondering how it went at the auction, and it didn't; withdrawn prior to the sale. Does anyone know what happened, if anyone bought it?
  17. I think you are misinterpreting their attitude. They are actually trying to make sure that whatever the circumstances (you made a mistake on the form, changed your mind, change of crew, they cocked up reading the form) there are no mistakes. It may not as subtle as you would care to see it but it gets the job done; they are communicating.
  18. ..without looking at the screen so you've typed at least a sentence before realising.
  19. I dream of getting to the same level of dryness! I don't think I can call mine "leaks"; the water just gushes in! I have the memory of the day I got caught without the cover over the Denham Owl during a summer downpour - watching a small river cascade down the wall to the top of the mains consumer unit where it divded to either side before carrying on down the wall and into the bilge. I've done some work since then though, and I may have reduced it to a "leak".
  20. While it's easy to aim at the business owner, this notice was clearly the result of provocation by the actions of at least one awkward customer. Customers can be the Devil's children. It wouldn't be beyond belief for someone to decide they need/want extra bedding then complain to have extra brought out to them. I would check absolutely everything before setting off. Arriving at a hired caravan we were gasping for a cup of tea. As my wife reached for the teapot at the back of a cupboard it disintegrated, a large jagged piece just missing her foot as it took a chuck out of the floor covering. Previous occupants had clearly broken it and rather than confess, just placed it carefully at the back of the cupboard. We've had similar with broken beds too.
  21. In the real world there's nothing you can really do without video evidence. The people on the two boats would rally round their person and it would be one person's word against several. They will probably be relating their story of how X jumped from one boat to the other while holding Y, for years. If Y ever gets married the incident may even be mentioned in the speech. Like someone I know who constantly repeats the story of how they allowed their 13 year old son to get drunk, simply because everyone around is too polite to say what should be said. That's life I'm afraid.
  22. Blimey, this sounds like a good time to look at composting bogs!
  23. This thread would make a great advert for the Broads!
