  1. Even so, the law is, the law.. forcing your way though traffic with sirens and blue lights is not legal for anybody who just chooses to fit them,
  2. This is my new installation, still a work in progress. I recon I’m at £3k to date. that’s without any labour as I’m doing it myself.
  3. He’s not been out on deck yet, he’s still a little clumsy
  4. I don’t generally have any alcohol till the boat is moored for the day, I can tell you it’s definitely not just a broads thing. on the GRO ,drunk skippers/crew is the norm on both private and day boats, as for music blaring out, don’t get me started on that. however,we do have plentiful quiet and remote moorings so it’s easy to get away from the riff raff
  5. Thing is, if you just moor up, possibly waiting for a staffer or volunteer. then leave without paying it might be a small victory, but,if you follow the example being talked about, In a month or so it might be 500 boats(random number) BA could start legal proceedings = more waste of river licence revenue = more publicity, which is exactly what they don’t want.
  6. He has not ignored the request. he has acknowledged the signage ,and disagrees with the legality of it. the staff have not challenged it(that may say something in itself) what plays out from here is very important. I’ll happily chip in if it comes to fines, I have no skin in the game so to speak, but was potentially going to move my boat to the broads next year
  7. My personal view is Griffs actions were/are spot on. he has acknowledged he has read the sign, he disagrees with the fee and has given his reasons for doing so. BA can now respond if the feel they can challenge his reasons as they have his contact details. if enough boat owners/ renters do the same BA will have to come up with some proof that the fees are legitimate. this will obviously bring some publicity, which is exactly what is needed.
  8. Personally I don’t think it should be anything to do with boat safety certificate, It should be down to the relevant rules of the waterways the boat is on, much like toilet holding tanks etc
  9. Part 9 page 81 https://www.boatsafetyscheme.org/media/299273/bss-examination-checking-procedures-interim-public-version.pdf
  10. I’m failing to understand what bilge pumps have to do with boat safety Ive no drip tray, engine bilge turned on. BSS chap never even looked or asked me. maybe you chaps/chappesses on the east coast need to find some non jobsworths. he was interested in ventilation, gas ,electrical install and fire fighting etc the stuff that stops you dying.
  11. Afaik, and I’m happy to be corrected, the BSS examination is not area specific?? I had my inspection done last week and the examiner didn’t seem to look at the bilge pumps,if he did it was very cursory.I have no strainers /filters fitted at all.
  12. PH bridge needs a 600 tonne gravel barge under it. as a by the by, I was reading the reform ba on faceache. apparantly ,to carry out a feasibility study on the closure of the bridge to traffic is gonna cost £10 k. the worlds gone mad
  13. Another photo, not sure how the ship was secured, not well enough obviously
