  1. Hello Strowager, I thought that as part of Broads Authority toll that the boats insurance had to have a 2 million pounds public liability as part of the insurance, somehow I don't think that would be covered by third party insurance. Most of the larger marinas are asking for similar cover these days, where it was a question on our mooring renewal this year our marina asked for a copy of the cover. Maybe its all box ticking, who knows? Regards Alan
  2. Hi Timbo, I fully agree about bacon being a food group. Nothing better than a Bacon & Egg butty Nothing wrong with red meat its the way that it is cooked, we cook all of our meat over water, beef, chicken, pork or lamb. Regards Alan
  3. On Ranworth Breeze we do our own maintenance on the four auto life jackets we have, ours are up for renewal this year. So it will be another call into Brian Ward's for the kits, last time they were very competitive on these. Regards Alan
  4. Hello Frank, Owning a boat (or even a small part of one) money just burns its way through your pockets. You will find that everything you start buying will be more than likely be more expensive than you are used to, one of the joys of being in our over taxed country. Maybe you will find that now is the time to give up smoking or change to the electronic versions. One of our owners told me a few months ago that going to a electronic cigarette has saved £11000 a year. Regards Alan
  5. I didn't see this report in the Telegraph last year, a good report on what its like to crash a super-bike. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-filter/11949888/Guy-Martin-what-its-like-to-crash-a-superbike.html Regards Alan
  6. Hi Jonzo, Silverline is a great yard, we have friends who used to hire each year from them, each time they had a pair of boats. Regards Alan
  7. Hi Alan, Maybe the new name for your boat should be Silvester's Retreat Shitbags Retreat doesn't quite cut it Regards Alan

  12. Hi Neil, I have always liked Guy Martin, the programs (and DVD) he did on "The boat that Guy Built" were very entertaining. He is a very down to earth chap. Regards Alan
  13. I am happy to report that we no longer have any shares for sale on the Ranworth Breeze Boat Syndicate. I am now starting waiting lists for both School & Standard shares. Regards Alan
  14. Hello Steve Welcome to the forum. I would see if you can get into the public moorings at Womak Staithe for your first night. It is only a short walk up the lane to the village and the pub. Take your time, be safe and enjoy your first time on the Broads. Regards Alan & Tan
  15. Hi John, Here is a link to all the webcams featured on our forum. http://thenorfolkbroads.net/forum/forum/124-webcams/ Regards Alan
  16. Maybe it just me but I can not see anywhere on the new live camera's at Barns Brinkcraft and at Oulton Broad the means to control them, login onto Norfolk Live makes no difference. Does anyone have an answer? Regards Alan
  17. I have merged the two topics. I looked earlier and there was one red egg with no sight of the pair of birds. Just looked before posting and there is a Falcon sitting on the egg now. Regards Alan
  18. Hi John, The price was about right, but I have no idea whats on the label Regards Alan
  19. Hi Andrew, So that what they are called, this must mean that I am not be member of the hoi palloi To be honest I bought a wide brimmed hat a few years ago when I got head burnt in April aboard Ranworth Breeze, this was the first time ever I have got burnt especially on my head. The hat was the only one I could find in Wroxham, of course from Roy's. I am not suited to hats, so it just's tends sit in the car till needed. Maybe I need to get a canoe Regards Alan
  20. Hi Alan, Public moorings are a different story they are owned or leased by the Broad Authority. In this case I fully agree that all toll payers and people on hire craft have paid by their hire fee (part of the costs of the hire companies have had to pay for their expensive tolls). All toll payers have already paid a hefty amount for what appears to be very little, no bins now at most moorings, delayed dredging, moorings lost or poorly maintained. Regards Alan
  21. Hi Vanessan, The honesty box at Womack Staithe for paying late mooring fees or donations for the water has been there for many years and has been there since we first started coming to the Broads in 2001. The morring fees and donated cash is collected by volunteers for the parish council. In my opinion these parish council visitor moorings are first class and well worth the small mooring fee that is charged for overnight moorings. Regards Alan
  22. At least 12 Black Jacks or Fruit Salad Iain. Regards Alan
  23. Hi Chris, So did I, I phoned the Toll Office for an update and to see what the scope of the problem is. The chap I spoke to said only a couple of reported cases last week, but they are still advising boat owners not to fix the plaques to hulls and to just keep then at hand or to tape them onto the inside of windows so they are visible. Regards Alan.
  24. Hi BB, What about Iain's thruppeny bits or were they bronze Regards Alan
  25. We northern's know the real value of hard earned brass and only tend to part with it when absolutely necessary. Being tight helps pay for those boating holidays Regards Alan
